Day out for petrolheads A Motor Show Extravaganza will be held on Saturday 8 December at the Sarepta sports ground in Mission Road, Kuils River.

Gates will open at 12:00. Entrance fee is R10 per person and R10 per car.

A manufacturers’ display will be held by Toyota, Hyundai, Top End, Renault and many more.

You can change the world What if it is not money that changes the world but people? What if people could afford to donate themselves to a worthy cause that could benefit society?

The Vodacom Change the World initiative is now calling for skilled South Africans to work at a Non Profit Organisation (NPO) of their choice for a year and get paid a salary.

Sound too good to be true? then read on.

Having recognised that NPOs benefit more from the transfer of skills and experience than they do from cash donations, Vodacom is again calling for skilled people who want to make a difference. Through the Vodacom Change the World programme, these volunteers are paid a monthly salary to dedicate their time, energy, and skills to local NPOs for a year.

“We have seen how our past and present volunteers have transformed the lives of people around them and can attest to the success that ordinary people can

achieve when given the right opportunity. The opportunity to make a positive difference by donating your skills and time to an NPO is now available to you,” says Maya Makanjee, chief officer corporate affairs at Vodacom.

This unique initiative, which has been running since 2010, has seen some phenomenal volunteers donating their time. If you’ve got the passion and skills to make a real difference in your local community, why not get involved?

First you’ll need to approach your chosen NPO and gain their support. Agree on a project plan and deliverables for your time with them. Applications where the project focus is on health, education and the use of information communication technology (ICT) to solve social needs will have an advantage.
