It’s ‘Touching the Heart’ time again DESIRÉE RORKE @dezzierorke It’s time again for the annual Touching the Heart fundraiser and gala dinner, and the folks at Daniel and Friends and I Am Special Ministries are brimming with excitement. On the evening of 19 May, the sublime beauty of Cavalli Wine and Stud Farm on the Stellenbosch wine route will once again be the backdrop for this prestigious black tie event, a favourite on the Cape Town social calendar. Now in its third year, the initiative has garnered support from many well-known personalities in Cape Town, of which Emo Adams, Dr Darren Green, Margit Rödenbeck-Meyer and Minki Burger are only a few. “The Touching the Heart initiative is a project which hopes to create awareness within society of the challenges and adversity which hinder the lives of disabled and/ or medically fragile children, as well as their families,” explains Kate Laurie a director at the Daniel and Friends Fund. The initiative was the brainchild of two non-profit organisations, namely the Daniel and Friends Fund, of which Cape Town pae-
