President’s Message Happy Holidays everyone,
President Matt Urban Vice President Jimmy Rodriguez Secretary / Treasurer Matt Hughes Board of Directors: Roy Johnson Paul Kerr Matthew Allen CGCS Caleb Buckley (Past Pres.) Vendor Representative Bryan Klock Chapter Executive Carol Cloud GCSAA Field Rep John Walker
What kind of year has it been? Did we achieve all we set out to do? Great questions to ask ourselves as we prepare to embark on another season. With the warm temps, many superintendents in the state have been mowing grass up to this point and are just beginning to plan for next season. As the RGGCSA plans for 2018, and looking back on 2017, I am very proud to say your board has made great strides in achieving the goals set down 12 months ago. We have learned a great deal from our successes and from our failures as a group. In the coming year we look to continue to streamline processes and procedures at the board level, boost attendance in meetings, implement new ideas to make meetings more beneficial to those who attend, and set a vision for the future of our association. The past two surveys tell us that networking and education are two of the most important parts of our association. We appreciate your feedback and welcome any suggestions on how to make the association better. On the networking side, a skins game will be offered to all who want to participate the afternoon prior to our meetings. This will give members an additional opportunity to spend some time with other superintendents and vendors in a relaxed setting. Look for information on the skins game in your email inbox as well as on the website. Educationally, a variety of new speakers will be introduced to our meetings and as always, we will offer CEU’s when available. We are also continuing to work closely with John Walker our GCSAA field rep to develop and implement our BMP template to be used as science based environmental plan aiding superintendents in dealing with environmental issues. I encourage all of you to take the time to make a few meetings a year to enjoy the benefits of time spent with your fellow superintendents and vendors. I thank Max Johnson for his service to the association and wish him the best of luck in Oregon. I also wish to thank Matt Alcala for his time spent working with us on the board. We hope to see Matt at our meetings in 2018. Please join me in welcoming our newest board member Matthew Allen CGCS of Los Alamos Golf Course. The board and I look forward to working with Matthew in the coming year. See you all in January at Desert Lakes! Have a safe and happy Christmas and New Years!!!
