Fall 2016

For the 18th consecutive year, the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children rolled out the red carpet for the North Texas GCSA as the host for our annual Fall education program. Through the generous support of our members, affiliates and sponsors, the chapter donated $5,000 to the hospital to support the great work that they do exposing their patients to golf through their Kid Swing and Learn to Golf Programs. It has been a great relationship and the chapter has provided more than $80,000 in support over the past 20 years! Way to go members! Close to 100 members attended the event and earned Texas Department of Agriculture and GCSAA continuing education points. If you are a TDA license holder, this annual event is a great way to earn all of your annual requirements in one full day. This year, our meeting sponsor, Winfield provided an outstanding education agenda through their very impressive program Winfield University. The lineup was very impressive including Robert Garcia of Winfield, Dr. Thom Nikolai of Michigan State, Carmen Magro CGCS, Dr. Billy Crow of the University of Florida, and the always informative and entertaining Dr. Don Renchie of Texas A&M AgriLife. The education topics were very useful and timely. Great job and thank you Winfield!

$5,000 Check Presentation. Way to go NTGCSA Members!

At the lunch hosted by the hospital, the chapter made their generous donation and was thanks very graciously by President Emeritus J.C. Montgomery and Vice President of Development Stephanie Brigger. Every year Mr. Montgomery and Ms. Brigger make a special effort to be a part of our event and recognize our support of the hospital. This hospital was established in Dallas in 1921 and treats children with orthopedic conditions. No patient at the hospital has ever paid for treatment or services. It is all supported by individuals and organizations like the North Texas GCSA.

Chapter President Kevin Redburn (L) with NTGCSA Distinguished Service Honoree and TSRHC Volunteer, Quinton Johnson.

A few members took advantage of the tours offered by the hospital staff and learned about all of the great work being done. We look forward to returning to the hospital in 2017 and many years to come. If you missed out this year, mark your calendars for 2017! We can guarantee a great education program at a very special place. Member Jorge Croda CGCS honored by Kevin Redburn for achieving Certification.
