Since 2010 Paul Ryan and others have been saying a lot of things about Social Security that today people might term “fake news.”

In Mr. Ryan’s 2010 budget proposal called “A Roadmap for America’s Future” he said, “Social Security is going bankrupt and cannot fulfill its promises to future retirees.” His solution at that time was to create private accounts, cut cost of

living increases and increase the retirement age to 70. More recently, Rep.
