YOUR EDMONTON PROPERTY MARKET REPORT In the past quarter, the Cairns real estate market has demonstrated strong health and resilience. While buyer activity has slightly decreased in some areas compared to three months ago, the market remains robust. Notably, there has been an increase in available properties being offered to the market, one of the first times this has happened since the start of the COVID boom. The uncertainty surrounding the direction of interest rates is also contributing to the current conditions.

Despite this, Cairns remains somewhat insulated from broader market volatility due to the strength of its health and social sectors, which account for 33% of all jobs in the region.

The ongoing challenge of high construction costs in Cairns, which are approximately 12% higher on average than Townsville, continues to make it difficult for many people to own or rent while building new homes. This cost disparity underscores the importance of careful financial planning and strategic decision-making for prospective homeowners and renters.
