First Annual Crisis Line Community Walk

If you were in Hoopa on Saturday, June 19th, you may have seen people walking along Loop Road for the Two Feathers’ First Annual Crisis Line Community Walk. Livey and Charlena originally created this event to promote our Two Feathers Crisis Line that is operational from Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. With the school year coming to an end, we were wanting to inform our community of the crisis line that is available to our young people who may need support from Two Feathers staff who are trained on crisis response and who are currently running the crisis line. Livey and Charlena were also wanting to bring a safe, comfortable event to celebrate the start of the summer and acknowledge that people have been living through challenging times during the global pandemic for over the last year. The goal of this Crisis Line walk was to bring the community together in a safe way and make known to the Eastern Humboldt community around the Two Feathers Crisis Line.

The crisis line is mainly a resource for our young people within Humboldt County, who are in need of someone to listen to their struggles, concerns, fears or just a person who will listen to them without judgement. We are wanting to create a safe space for our youth to speak freely about whatever they are needing to talk about.

Livey and Charlena would like to thank all of our Two Feathers staff and Youth Ambassadors who helped create such an amazing event and uplifting environment. Without the support of our team members, this event would not have been as successful.

We would also like to thank Alex Hodge, Ed Masten, and Inker McCovey from Hoopa Recreation. This agency has truly gone above and beyond to help Two Feathers coordinate this event.
