For some student journalists, using AI to submit articles is a complex issue On one hand, AI can be incredibly useful it can quickly gather relevant information, conduct research in an instant, improve grammar and writing style, and even analyze data to identify trends, all of which can enhance the quality of an article

On the other hand, there are concerns Using AI to simply submit articles without proper understanding can lead to a lack of information and knowledge It may also result in a failure to develop essential journalistic skills Additionally, it raises ethical questions about authenticity and originality If readers discover that the work is not truly the journalist's own, it can lead to a loss of credibility

I believe the school uniform policy implemented by the SSLG helps promote discipline and equality among students, but some flexibility should be considered There are instances when students face financial difficulties or emergencies, making it hard for them to comply Allowing reasonable alternatives or occasional free-dress days could help balance uniformity with student comfort and self-expression

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the school uniform policy. While the SSLG aims to maintain discipline and unity through uniforms, we understand that flexibility may be necessary in certain situations We appreciate your suggestion and will consider ways to balance uniformity with student comfort while ensuring fairness for all

cing Academics and Mental th: A Student’s Perspective TEREDANALYSIS

As we navigate the intricate dealings of national affairs, there emerges a constant discourse surrounding issues that shape our collective future as evident by the challenges between academics and real life It is essential to go beyond this pressing matter and explore the underlying dynamics that define our time as Filipinos The understanding of challenges and controversies starts here as we put to light the issue of the toll of school works on students’ mental health

Recently, mental health has been a huge issue especially on youths It is said that, mental health refers to our emotional psychological, and social well-being It affects how we think, feel, and act, influencing our daily lives In the UK, a study found that reported mental health problems among university and even junior and seniors students almost tripled between 2016 and 2023, with 16% of undergraduate students reporting mental health difficulties So, the question is: "Can still students balance academics while maintaining their mental health?"

As a student it is crucial to have a balanced lifestyle, to maintain a healthy physical and mental condition Well, some struggles with that, due to circumstances Some is often bugged, and distracted by the things they need to face outside the four corners of the room Some are exhausted, with the work they need to do causing further burnouts, and it really has significant impacts on different factors of their lives

It is really devastating that many students consider and call themselves as mentally unstable

As an unhealthy mental health can have a profound negative impact on students Poor mental health can lead to lower academic performance, difficulty concentrating and retaining information, increased absenteeism, and poor social and emotional functioning, it can also lead to an increased risk at self-harm and suicidal thoughts or attempts Students with poor mental health may find it difficult to form and maintain healthy relationships with peers and teachers, further isolating them and feeding their mental health issues

To answer the question, maybe Perhaps for some it still works, but how about those people who carries the heaviest burdens? Do we have to leave them behind? For those people who still shows up even if still shattered inside Isn t it unfair for them? How those people that's going through the same phase in their lives makes excuses for their absence? Do we play along with their excuses and make more for them to feel valid? What do we call those who takes advantage of their situations?

Let us keep in mind that despite our mental health issues, it is not a reason for us to always make excuses to justify our wrong doings

Their feelings are valid, but their wrong actions should not be tolerated Let us keep in mind that despite our mental health issues, it is not a reason for us to always make excuses to justify our wrong doings Also, we should keep in mind that it's important for us to learn how to manage our time, lessen our self pressure, focus on the brighter side, set priorities, and seek help Move forward, one step at a time, and never look back to bad habits Change for the better, and advocate for mental health awareness

Uniform Policy: Limit, Don't Eliminate

Does Uniform really make a difference in a student's life? This question has sparked a range of opinions in our school Students right now are being challenged by the strict rule "uniform policy," and it's time to weigh the pros and cons of our current uniform policy Some students support the policy, while others strongly disagree Arguments for Uniforms

“For me, I believe wearing a uniform can make us look neat,” says one student Many people think school uniforms help everyone look organized and professional They believe that uniforms can make the classroom a better place to learn because everyone looks similar, so there are fewer distractions from different clothes Some also think that uniforms help everyone feel like they belong, no matter what they wear at home

Arguments Against Uniforms.

"I don't support this because we cannot express ourselves freely," another student shares This perspective highlights a major concern about the policy Students argue that uniforms restrict their ability to showcase their personal style and creativity, which can be an important part of their identity development Furthermore, it can be challenging for students who lack financial resources to afford the required uniform, which can lead to feelings of exclusion and inadequacy

A Balanced Perspective

academic performance According to some professionals, uniforms can contribute to a more disciplined learning environment, but they may also limit students' sense of individuality and creativity In the end, any decision about uniforms should prioritize the voices and experiences of all students

Ultimately, finding a balance between upholding school standards and respecting individual choices is essential for creating a truly i l i d i

As a student, I ve witnessed the positive impact that uniforms can have on our school community They create a sense of unity and make it easier to identify students, which can enhance safety and security

However, I also recognize that the decision to wear a uniform is a complex one We must remember that each student has their own unique circumstances and struggles While following school rules is important, it's crucial to acknowledge that sometimes, those rules can feel restrictive and limit our ability to express ourselves Ultimately, finding a balance between upholding school standards and respecting individual choices is essential for creating a truly inclusive and supportive learning environment

The growing problem from small space

The Department of Education (DepEd) revealed that over 500 public schools nationwide are recently experiencing severe overcrowding, particularly urban areas Consequences are shifting in class schedules, making of makeshift learning spaces, and combining sections These work out somehow but these solutions are not for long term or temporary Education is one of the most important things in life, it is the foundation of our future, that presents and introduces us to new opportunities that life could offer, but with these challenges, does education really come by as easily for students within rural areas?

Public schools across the country are facing serious overcrowding problems like classrooms reaching 60 or more students These could lead to serious consequences that we want like, as for example those shifting in class schedules could really affect the child’s learning with the limited time they could only have in school What we need is more time to learn, more attention, given to the child’s education and more learning spaces for the growing population But of course, this does not come as easily for schools in rural areas with the limited budget Maybe instead of focusing more on programs that we could offer for students; we could focus more on the space we need for the students to learn

Classrooms are the foundation of our learnings and our learnings are the foundations for a better future.

No, with these challenges, students in real areas tend to struggle more with education and that’s because of limited spaces We could solve the problem in the near future if we focus more on building classrooms for students Classrooms are the foundation of our learnings and our learnings are the foundations for a better future

While there are valid arguments on both sides of this rule, it's crucial to consider the impact of wearing complete uniforms whenever we go to school This can affect our students' well-being and

However student leaders also face the weight of academic pressure Society often expects them to excel in school while balancing their responsibilities Academic achievements shape their image whether in school, the community, or even within their own families This reality highlights how student leaders become products of academic pressure striving for high grades and perfecting school tasks, setting an example for others But how does a student leader maintain balance? Could a pen be the answer? Academic pressure is one of the greatest challenges faced by student leaders It can break mental barriers, but it can also lead to anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, and declining academic performance For student leaders, this burden affects their leadership, leading to discouragement misunderstandings and decreased motivation Poor decision-making, exhaustion and strained relationships with peers

may result from these overwhelming expectations

Despite these struggles, student leaders stand resilient They put others before themselves, working to improve their communities and support their fellow students Their journey is filled with sacrifices yet they continue to push forward But how do student leaders survive such a demanding role? Their status as leaders reflects their commitment to service offering a shoulder to lean on, a voice for the unheard, and an eye that sees beyond the surface Many enter leadership with the illusion of competition, believing they must fix everything for those around them

The Power of Words

Student leaders do not just lead; they speak, write, and advocate for truth Leadership is not just about action it is also about storytelling, awareness, and influence A student leader is also a student journalist But how can a student leader support journalism?

By writing for change and using their voice for accuracy leaders can amplify the truth and shape perspe Journalism offers a plat to express their struggle emotions and insights

Life Matters: Breaking the Chains of Mental Struggles

Life is one of the most crucial aspects that every youth must navigate In an ever-changing world, the weight of expectations and societal pressures deeply affects our emotions, especially our mental health Every young person has the right to acknowledge their own feelings and those of their peers Whether its their passion, achievements, or goals, they often carry these burdens alone If we look closely we can see small yet significant efforts building toward a brighter future for the next generation

The youth hold the power to stand up, voice their struggles and express their emotions It is a part of their journey reflecting, growing, and striving to do more However, as students navigate their own complexities they face various challenges not just physical but also mental and emotional Do young people deserve to carry such burdens? J URNbassadors: PRESS-ing Matters into Young Hands

Journalism isn't simply reporting news, it's telling stories that enlighten and empower others. It is the lifeblood of truth, painting the world with vibrant stories, unmasking hidden realities, and igniting the flames of change

In today’s fast-paced world, where information travels in an instant, journalism remains a powerful force in shaping public awareness But behind every impactful story, there are dedicated storytellers Among them is a group of young, passionate individuals the JOURNbassadors who are on a mission to inspire the next generation of journalists

The JOURNbassadors, the official ambassadors of journalism in the Special Program in Journalism (SPJ), are not just student reporters; they are advocates of truth and responsible storytelling Driven by their love for journalism, they visit elementary schools to introduce young minds to the importance of news writing, ethical reporting, and the role of the press in society Their goal is simple yet profound: to nurture curiosity, empower future journalists, and highlight the impact of storytelling in shaping communities

The JOURNbassadors, through their dedication , they spread motivational stories, touch individuals' lives, and inspire younger students to become great in storytelling The pen holds great power, giving voice to the unheard, and writing history in bold, unforgettable lines Their purpose goes beyond just covering the news, they aim to spark curiosity and inspire future storytellers

By generating interest in journalism, they encourage Grade 6 students to take their first step into the world of news writing by enrolling in the Special Program in Journalism (SPJ) Writers can play an important role in writing good news articles, feature articles, and opinion articles that educate and inspire As great as words are, pictures bring stories to life Photojournalists capture the photo that adds emotion and impact They do this by taking great pictures, selecting the best photos to tell a story to achieve the best visual impact They work together with authors and graphics designers to create an entire package of storytelling with the use of words and images for an even stronger message

Armed with notebooks, cameras, and a deep sense of purpose, the JOURNbassadors step into classrooms filled with eager students Through hands-on workshops, interactive storytelling sessions, and engaging activities, they teach the fundamentals of journalism how to write compelling leads, structure stories, and capture moments through photography But beyond the technical aspects, they emphasize the true essence of journalism: telling stories that matter

More than just an academic exercise, these sessions inspire elementary students to see journalism as a powerful means of expression The JOURNbassadors emphasize that reporting is not just about writing facts it’s about uncovering truth, giving a voice to those unheard, and making an impact

With their combined talents, the JOURNbassadors work seamlessly to create impactful content that resonates with both their audience and the budding journalists they mentor

For many elementary students, seeing these young journalists in action is a source of inspiration Journalism, which once seemed intimidating or complex, suddenly becomes accessible and exciting The JOURNbassadors don’t just teach; they lead by example, showing that passion, integrity, and dedication are at the heart of every great journalist

“I never thought journalism could be for me,” shared one elementary student after a session “But now, I want to write stories that can make a difference ”

For the JOURNbassadors, the experience is equally meaningful They witness firsthand how their guidance sparks newfound confidence and enthusiasm in young learners The impact goes beyond lessons it’s about nurturing the next wave of storytellers who will continue the tradition of truth-seeking and responsible journalism

Since the current world is the age of a digital world, photographs become that one important asset applied in accessibility making information simpler Graphic artists utilize their creative abilities that help provide journalism easily and engaging Through collaboration and determination, the JOURNbassadors create a picture of youth as agents of change With words, images, or drawings, they bring written words to life, and all are listened to

As the JOURNbassadors continue their mission, they are building more than just journalism skills They are fostering a culture of curiosity, critical thinking, and ethical reporting among young students With each school visit, they leave behind more than just lessons they leave behind a legacy of passion for truth, a commitment to storytelling, and the belief that every voice matters

Mount Kanlaon erupts, affecting nearby cities with ashfall, lahar Flow

DJLA, Bago City Mount Kanlaon, one of the most active volcanoes in the Philippines, erupted unexpectedly on December 9, 2025, at 3:06 PM due to built-up pressure beneath its surface The sudden explosion sent plumes of ash and smoke into the sky, affecting several cities and towns within its vicinity

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the volcano was raised to Alert Level 3, indicating increased volcanic unrest and the possibility of a hazardous eruption The eruption triggered heavy ashfall and lahar flows prompting authorities to urge residents to stay alert Though lava flow was not confirmed, PHIVOLCS

warned of its potential if the volcanic activity continues to intensify

Residents in nearby communities reported low visibility, breathing difficulties, and ash-covered homes, roads, and farmlands

Cities and municipalities near Mount Kanlaon, including La Carlota, Bago City, Canlaon City, and La Castellana, experienced significant ashfall, affecting visibility and air quality

Emergency response teams were deployed to assess the situation and assist affected residents

The Bago City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that hundreds of families were evacuated as a precautionary measure Authorities

warned communities near rivers and lowlying areas about possible lahar flows, especially with the onset of heavy rains that could mix with volcanic debris

PHIVOLCS strongly advised against entry into the four-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) due to the increased risk of further volcanic activity Civil aviation authorities also issued flight advisories, restricting air travel near Mount Kanlaon to prevent aircraft from encountering volcanic ash

"Stay alert, always be careful, and follow the authorities' warnings and reminders because the threat of a disastrous volcanic eruption still exists, especially since it is still at Alert Level 3 and could possibly be raised to Alert Level 4," PHIVOLCS cautioned

Mt. Kanlaon at Alert Level 3: A Hazardous Eruption Looms

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has established a fivetiered Volcanic Alert Level System to help communities prepare for and respond to potential volcanic eruptions Each alert level signifies the degree of unrest and the likelihood of an eruption, with corresponding recommended actions

Mt Kanlaon is currently at Alert Level 3, which means magma is near the surface, and a hazardous eruption may occur within days or weeks

What Alert Level 3 Means for Mt Kanlaon

Increased volcanic earthquakes and gas emissions

Potential explosive eruption with ashfall pyroclastic flows and lava

High-risk areas, especially within the 4-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) are at risk

Entry into the PDZ is strictly prohibited

Residents nearby should be ready for possible evacuation

As a new generation emerges, numerous changes have reshaped society. One such creation is the electronic cigarette, or vape a device that mimics smoking a traditional cigarette. However, it lures the younger generation into a dangerous addiction

Inhaling its vapor is like gripping a sword by the blade an irreversible risk that threatens one's future. An electronic cigarette, a silent yet deadly menace

Science Camp Showcases Cre Sustainability T

Recyclable Fas

Ramon Torres Ma-ao Sugar Central National High School marked the grand culmination of its Science Month celebration on October 11, embracing the theme "ClimaQuest: Forecasting Wind Shifts, Charting Climate Futures " The event underscored the crucial role of science in addressing climate change, with a special highlight on sustainability and recycling

The celebration kicked off with an exhibit showcase of cocktail, formal, and festival wear, where students displayed their creativity and artistic flair

However, the most anticipated segment of the event was the "Mr & Ms ClimaQuest" competition, where participants from Grades 7 to 12 took the stage in uniquely designed outfits made entirely from recyclable materials Designed and crafted by the students themselves, these unique pieces highlighted the importance of sustainability and innovation

Each ensemble told a story not just of fashion, but of science, environmental consciousness, and resourcefulness Students transformed discarded newspapers, plastic wrappers, bottle caps, cardboard, and aluminum cans into stunning, runway-ready designs Their works symbolized how waste can be repurposed into something valuable and beautiful, reinforcing the

principles of the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

The winners were as follows: Mr ClimaQuest was Jiger Perez from Grade 10, Ms ClimaQuest 2024 was Johanna Baroy from Grade 9, and Sean Turbanos won in the LGBTQ category

Organized by the Science Department, the event celebrated unity, environmental responsibility, and the power of creativity and teamwork in promoting sustainability It was met with strong support from the school community, reinforcing the shared commitment to protecting the planet

The event was a resounding success It not only celebrated student ingenuity but also advocated for sustainable practices that could make a lasting impact on the environment As the world faces increasing ecological challenges, these young minds demonstrated that even small efforts like repurposing waste into art can contribute to a greener, more sustainable future

especially for the youth

Despite claims of potential benefits, such as reduced harm and aiding smoking cessation, vaping is not without consequences Unlike traditional cigarettes, ecigarettes do not involve combustion, which may lower exposure to certain harmful substances Some studies suggest they can help smokers reduce tobacco consumption and improve lung health

However, this does not mean vaping is a safe or recommended alternative It still carries significant risks, including unregulated products, secondhand exposure, and addiction Many e-cigarettes contain nicotine a highly addictive substance The aerosols they produce can expose non-users to potentially harmful chemicals, contributing to secondhand exposure Additionally, due to a lack of regulation, some vape products may contain contaminants and unknown substances, further increasing health risks

With this generation’s curiosity, teenagers are especially vulnerable to the dangers of e-cigarettes The desire to fit in, look cool, or follow peer influence can unknowingly lead them into harm’s way Instead of encouraging this hazardous trend, we must empower our youth with education and valuable life lessons Let’s inspire this generation to get high on life, not on addiction!
