POLICE BEAT TWEED BYRON LOCAL AREA COMMAND
A MAN fronted Tweed Heads Local Court this week after local police nabbed him at Banora Point allegedly breaking into cars. Tweed Byron LAC police responded to a tip of a man searching through motor vehicles parked on Bluehaze Crescent on Tuesday, June 21. Police spotted the man and after a short chase he was placed under arrest at about 3.30am. The man was charged with two counts of goods in custody and being in public place with intent to commit indictable offence. Detective Inspector Brendon Cullen said police will allege the man was attempting to break into motor vehicles. “It’s a good arrest because there has been a number of similar incidents,” Detective Cullen said. www.tweedvalleyweekly.net.au
About 12.45pm on Saturday 18 June, Kingscliff Police were patrolling the Fingal Head area and had cause to speak with an 18 year old local man. During their time with the man, police located what is alleged to be a small amount of the drug ‘ice’, and other drug paraphernalia. Police said the man admitted being a user of the drug. The man was issued a court attendance notice to attend Tweed Heads Local Court on the 1 August 2016 for possessing a prohibited drug. It is possible the man may receive court ordered drug addiction treatment as a result of this matter. The drug ‘ice’ or methyl-amphetamine is not only illegal to possess, it results in horrendous health problems to those people that use it. Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers (1800 333 000).
