Welcome to the Autumn edition, where we highlight the incredible journeys of Tweed women in business, the value of collaboration, and the freedom found in exploring the great outdoors. This issue celebrates not just the entrepreneurial spirit, but the importance of women supporting one another and creating spaces for success and growth.
From Georgie Clark of Fusion Wellness, blending personal healing with the power of working together, to Jodie Cockerill’s empowering campervan business, Gold Coast Campervan Hire, we see women charting their own course, sharing passions and making an impact. These stories remind us that success isn’t just about ticking off goals, but the people we meet, the lessons we learn and the joy found along the way.
Sasha and Freddie’s nomadic life with Brink & Forbes inspires us to mix creativity with practicality. Their story encourages us to think beyond traditional workspaces and enjoy the freedom of the open road. Britt-Marie Ladley’s Pedals & Picnics connects us with nature while supporting local businesses and creating unique experiences in the Tweed.
As you read, you’ll also discover the connection with nature—whether through a campervan journey or time spent on a Highland cattle farm. Sharon Rockliff and Daniel’s AndoRock Highlands is a true example of building something meaningful while balancing life, work, and a commitment to conservation in the Northern Rivers.
Finally, we explore that happiness isn’t a

distant goal, but something we can create today. Nick Midgley of Fulfilling Freedom teaches us that by living in the moment, we can find joy in the pursuit of our passions.
Amid these inspiring stories, we take a closer look at the pressures of modern wellness trends. With the overwhelming demand to keep up with the latest fads, especially for women balancing careers, family, and social expectations, finding a personalised wellness approach is key. Eva Rose emphasises that wellness is about developing sustainable habits, not chasing trends.
We are also proud to highlight the incredible work of the Women’s Giving Circle, an initiative under the Northern Rivers Community Foundation, which supports grassroots organisations that uplift women and youth in times of need. The Women’s Giving Circle has funded three impactful programs making a significant difference in our community. Read more about these programs on page 26.
In this issue, we hope to inspire you to chase your dreams, support each other in business, and take time to enjoy the journey— whether that’s a simple picnic or a road trip through the beautiful Tweed Shire and beyond.

Why a Business in the Wellness Industry?
Fusion Wellness was born from a life-threatening health experience. At 12, I nearly lost my life due to a heart condition. Those years of dealing with a 220beat heart rate for hours—sometimes days—at a time, with no doctors knowing what to do, were terrifying. When your health is compromised, all other goals and ambitions become secondary to the singular desire to regain wellness. This experience anchored within me that wellness would be my highest priority in life.
It was during this time that I discovered yoga, which not only transformed me physically but also nurtured me emotionally and mentally, offering me the space to embrace the spiritual power of prayer. After a few snowboarding injuries and three C-sections, Pilates also became a key passion for healing and maintaining strength. These personal life events led me to launch Fusion Wellness in my early twenties.
Evolving as a business over time, yoga and Pilates have become central to our services at Fusion.
Success isn’t just about making money; it’s about aligning your personal values with your business purpose. My purpose when opening Fusion Wellness as a studio was to create a safe, welcoming space for clients to connect, move, and feel free to be their authentic selves—a home away from home. Our tribe of teachers guides clients to breathe and move in ways that induce cellular-level healing, build strength, and rejuvenate the soul.
Running a business can feel like a balancing act. Sometimes everything flows with cosmic synchronicity, while other times, you’re spread so thin that nothing
Success isn’t just about making money; it’s about aligning your personal values with your business purpose.
or no one gets the best of you. The key is finding harmony and balance between self-care, giving energy to those you love, and tackling the ‘to-do’ list. The goal is to make your life reflect your key values and higher priorities.
Through my career—working with renowned brands like Channel Seven, Oakley, Arnette, and New Balance and leading PR events across the world—I’ve learned that collaboration is key to positive and powerful leverage. Whether you’ve got a shoestring budget for a grassroots campaign or a global initiative with big budgets, collaboration always leads to stronger results.
Through collaboration, we create something bigger than we could achieve alone.
Collaboration isn’t about what you can take, but what you can give. When you collaborate with like-minded brands serving the same demographic or psychographic, you expand your reach, brand recognition, visibility and credibility.
Over ten years ago, when I moved to the area and wanted to establish connections, I started hosting networking nights for women in business in the Tweed Shire. I reached out to successful local women, and they were more than happy to collaborate as speakers on various topics that would inspire women in business.
The speaker lineup included Therese Kerr, founder of the skincare brand Divine, a leader in the organic industry, and one of Australia’s top 50 most influential women. Also featured were Emma Henderson and Victoria Beattie, the talented sisters behind The Beach People, creators of the iconic ‘round towel’ and pioneers in brand positioning and social media. The event was rounded out by Delia McCabe, a neuroscientist and author specialising in nutrition for hormonal and brain health.
These networking events were held at local venues like La Barrita Mexican at Salt, SpiceDen, The Lake Cabarita, and the Cabarita Beach Hotel. I’ve been fortunate to lead the sunrise yoga session at one of the past International Women’s Day events on Hastings Headland, organised by Jordana Edwards, founder of Sassy Business Chicks. Additionally, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with Belen Kimble, owner of Salty Girls Surf School, to teach yoga at the Women’s
Surf Festival in Kingscliff, as well as presenting at PBL Group’s incredible networking events, which bring the community together.
Being involved in these community-driven events is about much more than just networking—it’s about creating a space for genuine collaboration. They foster meaningful connections with like-minded individuals who share similar values and passions. For anyone looking to expand their network, find new opportunities, or simply learn from others, these events offer an invaluable chance to build lasting business relationships and a strong support system within the local community.
Women have a unique ability to build relationships and create a sense of belonging. Whether it’s supporting each other on social media or co-hosting events, when women collaborate, the results are extraordinary. Collaboration is about leveraging strengths, connections, and pooling resources. Don’t wait for everything to line up perfectly—take messy, imperfect action. Sometimes collaboration doesn’t work out, and that’s okay; trying and failing fast is far superior to not trying at all. Perfection is the enemy of progress! After working with incredible people over the years—both global

Their drive, resilience, and unwavering support push us to keep growing and contributing to our community We’re proud to bring a unique, thoughtful, and results-driven approach to real estate, embodying the balance between empathy and determination Real estate remains a maledominated industry, but we’ve found that our feminine approach rooted in attention to detail, care, and authenticity resonates deeply with our clients.
In a close- knit community like ours, building genuine relationships based on trust and integrity is vital Whether guiding sellers through the sales process or helping buyers find their dream home, we are committed to acting in the best interests of our clients while considering the broader economic growth of our region. Our approach to negotiation exemplifies this balance We advocate fiercely for our clients, securing optimal outcomes while maintaining the trust of buyers This reputation for fairness and dedication often leads to repeat clients and long-term relationships, a testament to the trust we have earned.
With over 10 years of combined experience, we are honoured to lead McGrath’s Tweed Coast division Our mission is simple: deliver exceptional results while creating a seamless and personalised client experience.
We deliberately steer away from high-volume, transactional models, preferring instead to give each property the attention it deserves Every home is unique, and our tailored strategies reflect that whether it’s a boutique marketing campaign or a carefully crafted negotiation approach
The real estate landscape across the Tweed Coast continues to show resilience and growth Recent trends highlight a 9 2% increase in home values over the past 12 months. Demand remains steady for coastal properties, particularly in highly sought-after areas such as Casuarina, Kingscliff, and Cabarita Beach Families seeking lifestyle changes and savvy investors alike are recognising the enduring value of this beautiful region.
As we move further into 2025, both challenges and opportunities abound Sellers can still position well-presented properties for success, while buyers benefit from a diverse range of housing options from luxury apartments to charming family homes near the beach
We are audacious in our goals and excited for the future, but our ambition is rooted in the desire to deliver excellence one client at a time. We pride ourselves on making every individual feel valued, treating each property as its own unique story rather than just another listing Both our personal and business ethic prioritises relationships, results, and genuine community connection the hallmarks of our approach to real estate.

Sasha and Freddie, the duo behind the jewellery brand Brink & Forbes, have created a lifestyle that combines creativity, adventure, and a love of minimalism. For the past 3.5 years, they’ve been living and working on the road in their self-built van, Pixie, alongside their dog, Frankie. What started as a small jewellery business has now grown into a fully mobile operation, reflecting their nomadic lifestyle.
Initially, van life was simply a practical way for Sasha and Freddie to save money while exploring Australia. Freddie, who grew up in Cudgen, and Sasha, originally from Cairns, met while studying architecture at Griffith University and have been together for over a decade. Their shared love of travel and desire for a better work-life balance led them to leave their architecture jobs in Brisbane. After a four-month road trip from Scotland to Mongolia in late 2019, they returned home to find themselves craving freedom—just as COVID-19 hit and restricted travel.
During this time, Sasha started Brink & Forbes, a jewellery brand she ran part-time while working in the architecture department at Griffith University. Freddie was working at an architecture firm in Burleigh Heads. As the jewellery business grew, so did the idea of van life. They decided to build a van that would allow them to live rent-free, reduce bills, and focus entirely on Brink & Forbes while exploring Australia—a country neither of them had seen much of before.
Designing and building a van that would function as both a home and a creative studio wasn’t without its challenges. The biggest hurdle was finding a space to set up a temporary workshop. They built a tarp structure at Freddie’s mum’s place in Cudgen, which allowed them to save money during the 9-month build in 2021. With every dollar going
into the van, not paying rent for six months was a huge help.
The result of their hard work?
Pixie, their self-built van, has now become both their home and creative workspace. Despite the small space, they find that life on the road has become surprisingly comfortable, with a solid daily routine. Their typical day includes walks with Frankie, gym visits, work sessions, and exploring the local areas, all while managing to stay productive in their mobile studio.
Living on the road has had a significant influence on Sasha and Freddie’s approach to jewellery design. The landscapes they encounter, whether remote or urban, provide constant inspiration. Feedback from people across Australia, from small towns to large cities, has shaped their design process. The couple’s focus has shifted towards creating wearable, everyday jewellery that is functional, minimalist, and timeless, rather than chasing fleeting trends.
The textures and forms of nature are a recurring theme in their designs. Whether it’s the rugged volcanic cliffs along the coast or the stark, dry landscapes of the outback, these natural elements inspire many of their jewellery pieces. Their designs often feature organic textures, with freshwater pearls and simple metalwork at the forefront. A great example of this is their Traveller’s Pendant—a piece inspired by Sasha’s longing for freedom during the pandemic. The design features a textured world map and compass etching, inspired by a visit to the dramatic cliffs of the South Coast of New South Wales.
Living in a van means every possession must serve a purpose, and this practicality extends to their jewellery designs. The pieces are created with versatility in mind— comfortable, adaptable designs that can be worn from
casual outings to formal occasions. For Sasha and Freddie, every design must feel effortless, timeless, and functional, reflecting their life on the road.
While the benefits of van life are clear—freedom, exploration, and the ability to run a creative business— there are also challenges. For one, constantly moving leads to decision fatigue. From finding a place to sleep each night to adjusting to weather conditions that can affect productivity, flexibility is key.
Organising stock and maintaining a workspace on the road also requires creativity. The couple is planning to rent a workshop space at the end of the year, offering a dedicated spot for storing stock, photographing jewellery, and keeping everything organised while still allowing them to travel.
As Brink & Forbes continues to grow, Sasha and Freddie have big plans for the future. They’re currently on a two-month trip around Tasmania, exploring everything the island has to offer. After that, they plan to rent a workshop space to create a dedicated workspace for their jewellery-making process and store inventory.
Looking ahead, the couple is considering upgrading to a larger 4WD van and undertaking another DIY build to suit their growing business needs and lifestyle. They’re also focused on increasing their presence in the van life space, with plans to grow their YouTube channel and share more of their travels and the behind-the-scenes process of running a business on the road.
Sasha and Freddie’s advice for anyone wanting to start a creative business while living a nomadic lifestyle is simple: embrace flexibility and start before you feel ready. The journey won’t always go to plan—weather, travel, and unexpected challenges will always be part of the process—but with adaptability, the rewards of independence and working on the road are immense. They suggest keeping your
business portable and lightweight, using digital tools, efficient storage, and streamlining workflows. Most importantly, they recommend starting early, experimenting, and refining along the way.
As they continue to navigate life on the road, Brink & Forbes remains a true reflection of Sasha and Freddie’s journey—creativity, practicality, and the freedom of the open road all wrapped into one unique and inspiring brand.

Pedals & Picnics, owned and operated by Britt-Marie Ladley, started as a vision that was realised in Murwillumbah, at the head of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail. What began as an idea to offer something a little different quickly turned into a local favourite, combining the pleasure of cycling with the joy of a relaxed picnic experience.
Britt-Marie’s partner, Mick, had already found success with Valley Ebikes when the idea for Pedals & Picnics began to take shape. “I was keen to create my own experience,” Britt-Marie says. “When we moved to Murwillumbah, I saw an opportunity to make something special out of the stunning landscape and the Rail Trail.” With Mick’s knowledge of e-bikes and Britt-Marie’s passion, they set about making their dream a reality, tackling everything from council approvals to finding the best local produce for their picnics. “It was a whirlwind, but it’s been worth every bit of effort,” she adds. The Northern Rivers Rail Trail has become the backbone of the business, offering the perfect backdrop for what Pedals & Picnics offers. For Britt-Marie, the Rail Trail is integral to the whole concept. “The Rail Trail is at the heart of what we do,” she says. “It’s about giving people the chance to slow down, enjoy good food, and experience the beauty of nature in a peaceful, safe environment.”
From the moment you book with Pedals & Picnics, it’s clear that every detail is designed to make the outing something special. “We focus on the small things,” Britt-Marie explains. “The wooden carts filled with high-quality picnic gear, the beautiful grazing boxes, and the range of bikes – we want every part of the experience to be memorable.”
Pedals & Picnics offers a variety of grazing boxes, each thoughtfully curated to suit different tastes. The “Riders Breakfast Box” includes fresh fruit, local pastries, and gourmet cheeses – the perfect way to start a day on the trail. The “Station Wrap Box” features homemade wraps and a selection of healthy, wholesome snacks, while the “Antipasto Trail Box” offers Mediterranean olives, cured meats, and artisan cheeses for a satisfying afternoon treat. For those with a sweet tooth, the “Tunnel Sweet Box” has a decadent collection of

desserts. Britt-Marie’s personal favourite is the “Local Farmers Market Box,” which features products from ten local producers, celebrating the best of the region, from artisan cheeses to wood-fired bread and fresh vegetables.
Guests also have the option to customise their picnic experience. Whether it’s vegetarian, gluten-free, or vegan options, Britt-Marie is happy to create something tailored to individual preferences. “We love making each experience as personal as possible,” she says.
Pedals & Picnics prides itself on supporting local producers, and their “Local Farmers Market Box” is a great example of this. They work closely with producers like Salumi Salami, Cheeses Loves You, Mad Mountain Relishes, and Byron Bay Crackers, all of whom can be found at the Murwillumbah Farmers Market.
the experience at home, the “TakeHome Picnic Pack” includes a cosy throw, an esky, and a grazing box.
Britt-Marie is also passionate about giving back to the community. “We donate rides and picnics to schools, charities, and community groups whenever we can,” she says. “It’s important for us to support the local area that’s supported us.” Pedals & Picnics also partners with local businesses like Hossana Farmstay and The Natural Wine Shop to host picnics at scenic locations like Masterson Park in Burringbar.
“Murwillumbah has this great, laidback vibe,” Britt-Marie explains. “It’s a town that encourages you to take your time and appreciate the beauty around you – which is exactly what we’re about at Pedals & Picnics.”
Pedals & Picnics takes the hassle out of planning a picnic, offering everything guests need for a relaxing day out. All picnic bookings include food and non-alcoholic drinks, and their “Destination Picnics” even come with extras like peacock chairs and drink trolleys. For those who want to enjoy
Families with young children are also catered for with kids’ carts, seats, and cargo e-bikes capable of carrying two children. “We want everyone to be able to enjoy the experience,” Britt-Marie says. “We make it as easy and enjoyable as possible for all our guests.”
Pedals & Picnics also caters to special events, whether it’s a birthday, a proposal, or a corporate gathering. “We’re happy to help organise any special occasion,” Britt-
Marie explains. “From small, intimate gatherings to larger events, we’ll make it happen.”
With the Northern Rivers Rail Trail continuing to grow in popularity, Britt-Marie has big plans for the future. “We’ve got some exciting collaborations coming up,” she says, hinting at upcoming overnight stays and sunset picnics. “We’re also planning some workshops with local holistic creators, which will be a great way to connect with the community.”
With over 200,000 visitors already having used the Rail Trail, Britt-Marie is looking forward to seeing the business grow even more as the trail extends to Mullumbimby. “The future is really exciting,” she says. “We can’t wait to be part of this journey as the trail continues to expand.”
For Britt-Marie, the most rewarding aspect of running Pedals & Picnics is the joy it brings to customers. “When people tell us it’s one of the best experiences they’ve had, that’s what makes it all worth it,” she says. “It’s about helping people make memories with the ones they love.”
One experience that stands out for Britt-Marie is a young couple who used Pedals & Picnics for a DIY Combo deal. “They came back beaming,” she recalls. “They’d just gotten engaged at the end of the Rail Trail. It was such a special moment to be a part of.”
Britt-Marie’s message to visitors and locals is simple: “Slow down, take a breath, and enjoy the beauty of the world around you. Life’s too short to rush – Pedals & Picnics can help you savour the moment.”

Inspiring Adventure on the Open Road!
Gold Coast Campervan Hire was founded in 2021 by Jodie Cockerill, inspired by her own solo adventure around Australia. Jodie purchased a 2009 Ford Transit, which she converted into a fully equipped campervan, “Spirit,” with off-grid capabilities like a 300w solar system and a 75-litre water tank. Designed to accommodate a small family, including space for her grandkids, “Spirit” allowed Jodie to pursue her dream of a solo lap of Australia in 2018. Although she had initial doubts, her journey was transformative, proving to herself that she had the confidence and courage to take on such an adventure.
After her trip, Jodie decided to share the joy of campervanning with others by offering “Spirit” for hire in 2021, making it more affordable for families and solo travellers to experience the freedom of road trips without the hassle of ownership. In 2022 Jodie added her second van, “Mystery,” to the fleet. Then Destiny and Harmony followed in 2024.
Gold Coast Campervan Hire continues to grow. Jodie’s fleet offers a great way to explore Australia’s diverse landscapes, from surfing along the coast to venturing out west, all while enjoying the flexibility and adventure that comes with campervan travel.
Tweed Coast Living recently sat down with Jodie to gain a little more insight into her road tripping journey, which has not only led to the success of Gold Coast Campervan Hire but has also solidified her as a recognised and respected woman in business on the Tweed.
You’ve had quite an adventurous journey with “Spirit,” starting with your solo lap of Australia. What was it like preparing for such a big trip, and how did the experience shape your decision to turn “Spirit” into a rental van for others?
Preparing for my solo lap of Australia with Spirit was both exhilarating and overwhelming. I wanted to make sure I could manage the van completely on my own, so I designed everything to be done easily by a woman—whether it was setting up camp, maintaining the van, or handling everyday tasks on the road. From choosing lightweight materials to ensuring all systems were user-friendly, every detail was planned with independence in mind.
Once I hit the road, the experience was transformative. Travelling solo gave me an incredible sense of freedom and self-reliance, while Spirit became more than just a van—it was my home, my escape, and my adventure companion. Along the way, I met so many people who were curious about van life but hesitant to take the plunge themselves. That’s when the idea sparked—why not give others the chance to experience this lifestyle without the full commitment?
Turning Spirit into a rental van felt like the perfect way to share the magic of van life with others. Whether it’s a weekend getaway or a long-haul road trip, I love knowing that Spirit is helping more people—especially women—explore Australia with confidence and ease.
Your story of setting out on your own is incredibly inspiring, how did the experience transform your view on confidence, independence, and what it means to live life on your own terms?
To be honest, I was super scared to start with—telling myself I was crazy for doing this and that I was going to be lonely. I think I cried from here to Gympie!
But the moment that really changed everything for me was my first stop in Rockhampton. Before I even started setting up the van, a couple parked next to me invited me over for a drink. I ended up staying for dinner with them and their friends, and they gave me so much confidence to know that I could do this on my own. They shared so many valuable tips and hints, and from that moment, I felt a shift—I wasn’t alone, and this journey was going to be something truly special.
Win a Weekend Getaway! Follow @goldcoastcampervanhire for more details!
That experience transformed my whole perspective on confidence and independence. I realised that fear and doubt are normal, but pushing through them is where the real growth happens. With every new place I explored and every challenge I faced, I gained more trust in myself. Living life on my own terms meant embracing the unknown, making my own decisions, and finding strength in my own abilities.
Most importantly, I learned that solo travel doesn’t mean being alone. The kindness of strangers, the friendships formed on the road, and the supportive van life community made me feel more connected than ever. This journey showed me that independence isn’t about doing everything by yourself—it’s about having the confidence to step out into the world, knowing that you’re capable, resourceful, and open to whatever comes your way.
You’ve created a space for others to enjoy campervanning without the financial burden of owning a van. How do you feel your business empowers other women—whether that’s through your story or by offering opportunities for families and solo travellers?
For some reason, the universe has sent so many solo female travellers my way—women who dream of experiencing van life but may not have had the opportunity to own a van themselves.
It’s been such an incredible thing for me to be able to help them take that step, giving them the chance to experience the freedom of the road without the financial or logistical barriers of van ownership. Through my own journey, I know how daunting it can feel to set out on your own, and I love that my business helps other women gain the confidence to do just that. Whether it’s a solo adventure, a girls’ getaway, or a family trip, I’ve designed all my vans to be easy to manage, comfortable, and welcoming—so that anyone, no matter their experience, can enjoy the magic of van life.
More than just renting out a van, I feel like I’m sharing a lifestyle and a mindset—one that says, “Yes, you can do this.”
Seeing women take their first solo road trip, fall in love with the open road, and gain confidence along the way has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. It’s about more than just travel; it’s about empowerment, independence and the joy of discovering just how capable you really are.
Australia is such a beautiful country to explore, and you’ve given people the chance to experience it in a unique way through your campervans. What feedback have you received from customers, and what stories or experiences stand out to you the most?
One of the things that stands out the most from customer feedback is the feeling of getting back to nature and escaping the hustle and bustle.
People love the simplicity and freedom that van life brings—waking up to the sound of the ocean, watching the sunset from a remote campsite, and just slowing down to enjoy the moment.
One story that really stuck with me was a customer who
continued on page 18
rented Mystery to attend a women’s wellness and yoga retreat.
After the retreat, she set off on a three-week solo adventure along the East Coast, completely falling in love with van life. She enjoyed it so much that she ended up buying her own van so she could take even more trips—including ones with her grandkids! It was amazing to see how that first experience gave her the confidence to embrace the lifestyle fully.
That’s what I love most about offering my van to others—it gives people the chance to try van life without the commitment of owning a van. Whether it’s a weekend escape or a longer road trip, I love hearing how it helps people reconnect with nature, find their independence, and create unforgettable memories along the way.
The Tweed Coast is known for its beaches, but there’s so much more to explore. How do you recommend people use your vans to really experience the hidden gems of the region and beyond?
The Tweed Coast is an incredible destination, and while its beaches are stunning, there’s so much more to explore beyond the shoreline.
One of the best ways to experience the hidden gems of the region is by taking your time and venturing into the national parks, waterfalls and charming hinterland towns—all easily accessible with one of our campervans.
For those planning their trip, we have plenty of blogs on our website filled with inspiration and itineraries to help map out the perfect adventure. Even within just a few hours’ drive, there are so many wonderful places to visit. The Tweed Valley offers breathtaking rainforest walks, and the nearby waterfalls in Nightcap and Border Ranges National Parks provide a peaceful escape into nature.
If you love the idea of camping under the stars, the region has some incredible national park campgrounds, where you can wake up surrounded by nature and enjoy the tranquillity of the bush. Whether you’re looking for a weekend getaway or a longer road trip, our vans give you the freedom to explore the Tweed Coast and beyond at your own pace, discovering the beauty of this region in a truly unique way.
Looking ahead, do you have any exciting plans or new features you’re planning to add to your vans or services to make the experience even better for your customers?
Yes! We’re always looking for ways to make the van life experience even better for our customers, and one of the most exciting new services we’re now offering is One-Way Hires. This option has been incredibly popular, especially for international and interstate travellers who want to explore more of Australia without having to loop back to their starting point.
A huge benefit of this service is that we also offer return-to-Tweed trips. Customers can join our database, and whenever we need a van brought back to the Tweed Coast after a One-Way Hire, they can do so for just one dollar per day plus insurance—making it an unbeatable deal for road trip lovers.
Right now, our one-way destinations include Melbourne, Sydney, Airlie Beach and Cairns, opening up even more opportunities for epic east coast adventures. Whether it’s a scenic coastal drive or an inland escape, we’re excited to give travellers more flexibility and affordability in experiencing van life.
If you could offer one piece of advice to other women who are considering starting their own businesses, especially in the travel or outdoor adventure sectors, what would it be?
My biggest piece of advice for other women looking to start their own business is to believe in yourself and offer a service that truly comes from the heart. When your business is built on something you’re passionate about, it shines through in everything you do, and your customers will feel that authenticity. If you focus on creating the best possible experience for them, success will naturally follow.
At the same time, it’s important to be financially savvy and do your homework. The travel industry has seasonal highs and lows, so budgeting carefully and planning for those fluctuations is key to staying sustainable in the long run. Be smart with your finances, know your costs inside out and always keep an eye on ways to adapt and grow.
Most of all, don’t be afraid to take the leap. Running your own business is challenging, but it’s also incredibly rewarding—especially when you see how your service helps others create amazing experiences and lifelong memories.

Sharon Rockliff, co-owner of AndoRock Highlands, recently sat down with Tweed Coast Living to discuss the incredible journey that led to the creation of their Highland cattle farm, a place of natural beauty, peace, and a shared love of animals and the environment. Sharon and her partner, Daniel, made the life-changing move from Western Sydney to the Northern Rivers region in 2013, and they have never looked back.
Sharon’s affection for Highland cattle began much like many others—through images and videos of these majestic animals on the internet. “I first fell in love with Highland cattle just like everyone else. They were all over the internet, but I never imagined we would one day have a farm full of them,” Sharon recalls. However, it wasn’t until Daniel purchased a breeding pair as a gift for Sharon that their love for the breed deepened. “What girl does not want to be given a Highland cow as a present?” she jokes, reflecting on how this thoughtful gift transformed their lives.
With the arrival of their first pair, Sharon and Daniel began breeding and growing their fold. “It wasn’t just about having these animals; it was about sharing the joy they brought us with others,” Sharon explains. Their vision expanded and soon they were helping others enjoy Highland cattle on their own farms. “We’re a registered breeder with the Highland Cattle Society,” Sharon adds. “Our goal is to produce high-quality animals with great temperaments, ensuring that every new home for our cattle is a good one.”
To achieve this, the couple uses a bull affectionately named Spud and AI (artificial insemination) techniques to carefully select the best breeding stock.
In 2021, Sharon and Daniel officially launched AndoRock Highlands, a name born from the combination of their last names. “Truth be told, it was the easiest idea we could think of!” Sharon laughs. But beyond the name, it was Daniel’s vision and dedication that turned their dream into a reality. “Daniel’s endless energy and hard work made this place what it is today,”
Sharon says proudly. AndoRock Highlands is now not only a cattle farm but a beautiful paradise that the couple is proud to call home.
Daniel’s commitment to the environment extends far beyond their cattle. His passion for nature has transformed their property into a wildlife haven. Sharon explains, “Daniel’s love for animals and the environment is something
that guides every decision we make. Our property is now part of the Land for Wildlife program, helping to manage areas for biodiversity, habitat preservation, and nature conservation.”
While managing their farm, Sharon and Daniel balance fulltime careers in the Tweed area as an electrician and a Registered Nurse. “It’s a busy lifestyle, but we love the versatility our work offers,” says Sharon. The location of their farm is another blessing. “We’re just 20 minutes from the Gold Coast Airport and less than an hour from Byron Shire, so we have easy access to major cities, but still get to come home to this beautiful, peaceful place every day,” Sharon adds.
At the end of each busy workday, Sharon and Daniel retreat to their farm, where they find solace in their animals and surroundings. “We both unwind by brushing and interacting with the cows. It’s such a peaceful way to end a hectic day, and the views of the hills and the ocean line of Coolangatta are breathtaking,” says Sharon.
Sharon, a former city girl, never imagined owning a farm, but her unexpected journey has taught her more than she ever expected. “I’ve come to love every moment of it,” she says with a smile. For Daniel, farming is a lifestyle he’s always known, inspired by his visits to Bingara in the New England region of NSW. The move from the fastpaced city to the peaceful rhythms of the Northern Rivers has been life-changing for both of them.
Sharon reflects, “It’s hard to describe the feeling of moving from city life to this— the natural beauty, slower pace, and connection to the land are things you can’t fully grasp until you experience them.” Their farm has become more than just a home; it’s a dream to create a space where others can connect with nature and animals in a meaningful way.
AndoRock Highlands is more than just a cattle farm—it’s a photographer’s dream. The property offers a variety of stunning locations perfect for all styles of photography. From a running creek surrounded by tropical gardens to a picturesque bridgeway with scenic hill views, there’s no shortage of beautiful backdrops. “If you’re a photographer looking for that perfect location, we’re the place to go,” Sharon says. “We offer a unique opportunity to capture memorable moments with our stunning cows and the breathtaking landscape.”
For filmmakers, AndoRock Highlands is an ideal film shoot location, with its diverse landscapes offering a wide range of possibilities for backdrop scenes in any type of film. Sharon adds, “We’ve had several inquiries
for film shoots because the property provides such a versatile range of beautiful backdrops.”
AndoRock Highlands also provides the opportunity for guests to spend quality time with their Highland cows. “You can brush and feed one of our beautiful girls and create lasting memories,” Sharon invites. The farm also offers family photography sessions, where families can capture beautiful moments with these gentle creatures in the stunning natural surroundings. Looking to the future, AndoRock Highlands has plans to offer a complete proposal package for couples seeking the perfect place to pop the question. “We want to create the perfect stress-free setting for that magical moment,” Sharon shares. The couple also plans to offer picnic experiences, inviting guests to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere while surrounded by nature.
To learn more about AndoRock Highlands and the experiences they offer, visit their website at andorock.com.au. Sharon and Daniel can’t wait to meet you, share their love for the area, and introduce you to the wonderful world of Highland cattle.
WORDS EVA ROSE
Wellness trends are everywhere you look, and each week it seems a ‘cure-all’ ritual is touted as the new “must-include” in your morning routine. The only problem is your morning routine would now be 4.5 hours long if you included all the other wellness trends you’ve committed to over the past 6 months. If you have a career, kids, or both, the likelihood of getting through it all feels impossible. As women, though, we can feel a sense of pressure to always look and feel “our best”—an image that is only perpetuated further by social media and wellness marketing. So, do the wellness trends have value, and how do you know which ones are worth putting your time and money into? Because, let’s not forget, wellness is now a multi-billion-dollar industry that continues to experience unprecedented growth. And is it possible to still be healthy and well without incorporating the latest TikTok fad?
The regular rituals you incorporate should be selected based on your individual needs and/or health goals. There are very few one-size-fits-all approaches. If you add something to your routine, you want to make sure it is supporting your return to balance or moving you towards your goal.
It’s also important to remember that wellness is a journey; what works for you now might not be supportive in 12 months when you want to have a baby, or in 5 years when you hit significant hormonal shifts. We each have our individual requirements, and our wellness routine should reflect this. What your friends are raving about or what an influencer swears by might not be beneficial for you. If you try a wellness trend and it doesn’t feel right, don’t continue it based on popularity—let your own innate body intelligence guide you.
As women, we need to be mindful that wellness trends are supportive of our female biology. Due to the complexity of women’s hormonal fluctuations, we only became incorporated into medical research studies as late as the 90s. Up until then, much of the research was based on men, and the benefits were then extrapolated to women. However, due to natural gender differences, we may not always experience the same benefits. For instance, the latest research conducted on women gives insight that the popular ice baths and intermittent fasting trends may need to have their protocols adjusted for women.
I also like to remind people that you don’t need to be incorporating all the latest trends to be healthy. Often, I see people skipping the daily foundations of movement and quality nutrition, hoping the latest trend, done once a week, will make up for it. This is simply not the case.
Wellness is Personal— It Should Serve You, Not the Other Way Around.
Wellness should be a lifestyle, not a trend, and sometimes what we need to do might not be Instagram-worthy—like setting a professional boundary or getting a pap smear!
It’s the Simple Foundations that Truly Support Your Health.
So, which wellness trends do I see most women benefiting from? Focusing on protein intake and forgetting intermittent fasting, plus prioritising sleep and nervous system regulation, would be high on the list. I personally love seasonal rituals that reflect our body’s natural energetic requirements at that time. Plus, I’m a big fan of simple yet
clever swaps that support our overall health, such as using an analogue alarm clock to reduce morning scrolling, having meetings outside in nature, and taking short walks after lunch or dinner to support metabolic health.
Autumn is the perfect season to prioritise skin health and support the lymphatic system for enhanced immune function. Try my delicious and much loved Beauty Goddess Tea Recipe. Best made with organic loose leaf ingredients, steeped for 10 minutes and enjoyed outside in nature.

If you’re feeling uncertain about which trends to incorporate or need guidance on how to align your wellness practices with your unique needs, seeking the support of a qualified naturopath or acupuncturist can be incredibly beneficial. These holistic practitioners can help you identify any underlying imbalances in your body and create a tailored approach to your health. Whether it’s optimising your nutrition, managing stress, or balancing hormones, a naturopath or acupuncturist can offer personalised advice and treatments to guide you on your wellness journey.
Wellness Isn’t One-Size-Fits-All— A Personalised Approach Makes All the Difference.
As you continue navigating the world of wellness trends, remember that it’s important to approach your health with intention and mindfulness. There is no one-size-fits-all solution, and the most effective practices are the ones that support your unique needs and lifestyle. Stay connected with your body, trust your instincts, and seek guidance when needed. Wellness is not a race or a competition; it’s about finding balance, nurturing your body, and creating a lifestyle that supports your long-term health and happiness.

WORDS NICK MIDGLEY
MANY OF US SPEND OUR LIVES CHASING HAPPINESS, BELIEVING IT LIES JUST BEYOND OUR NEXT MILESTONE—A PERFECT DAY, A NEW RELATIONSHIP, OR AN ACHIEVEMENT. BUT WHAT IF HAPPINESS ISN’T A DISTANT DESTINATION, BUT SOMETHING WE CAN EXPERIENCE IN THE JOURNEY ITSELF?
The belief that happiness is always “just around the corner” causes us to postpone joy, waiting for the “perfect” conditions—more success, better weather, or a new relationship. Yet, happiness isn’t a destination. It’s an energy we can access each day.
If we don’t learn to embrace happiness during the pursuit, the end goal might feel hollow. The truth is, happiness isn’t tied to any specific outcome. It’s a mindset we can cultivate each day, regardless of where we are on our journey.
After experiencing happiness and freedom for myself, I felt compelled to help others do the same. Many were waiting for the “perfect moment,” thinking happiness would only come after achieving certain goals. I realised we don’t need to wait for the right time—we can choose happiness now.
That insight led to the creation of Fulfilling Freedom. I wanted to show people that happiness isn’t a far-off dream
but something we can experience in the present moment. When we focus on joy in the now, we align ourselves with the life we truly want. Fulfilling Freedom is designed to guide others in reconnecting with their inner joy and creating a life they desire.
To nurture joy, we must practice gratitude, stay present, and form healthy habits. Gratitude shifts our focus from what we lack to what we already have, helping us appreciate the present moment. The more we focus on the now, the more we uncover reasons to be happy.
Being present allows us to experience life’s natural rhythm, bringing peace and freedom. Surrounding ourselves with positive, supportive people creates an environment where happiness can thrive. Daily habits—like exercise, self-care, or meditation—help us maintain balance, making it easier to embrace joy and flow with life.
The most empowering realisation is that we don’t need to wait for happiness. We can choose to live free and happy right now. By embracing joy in small moments, stepping into each day with gratitude and intention, we stop postponing our happiness.
Choosing happiness now opens us up to experience life fully. Happiness isn’t a far-off dream—it’s a daily choice. By choosing happiness, we gain the freedom to create the life we truly desire.

The Women’s Giving Circle, an initiative under the Northern Rivers Community Foundation is a lifeline for grassroots organisations that uplift women and youth in times of need.
This year, the Northern Rivers Community Foundation’s Women’s Giving Circle has supported three powerful programs; Human Nature, Women Up North, and Haus of Armour. Each of the organisations supports women and girls in very different ways to build a better future for generations to come in the Northern Rivers.
For the young people supported by Human Nature, the region’s beaches, parks, and quiet spaces are safe havens where they can begin to process trauma and rebuild trust.
The Northern Rivers community has experienced a series of compounding crises, including floods, bushfires, and the pandemic, alongside challenges like poverty and family violence. These factors have created a landscape of poly-crisis for young people, many of whom suffer from complex trauma. Traditional mental health services often fail to meet their needs because they are unable to offer the flexibility and emotional safety required.
“Many of the teens we work with have experienced complex trauma and feel disconnected from mainstream mental health services,” says Jen Parke, Head of Client Services. “We meet them on their terms, wherever they feel comfortable.”
Thanks to the Women’s Giving Circle, Human Nature is delivering 90 trauma-informed therapy sessions for young adults. These one-on-one sessions are tailored to build trust slowly, often starting with something as simple as sitting on a beach or walking through nature.
The sessions blend evidence-based practices with nature’s soothing influence, creating an environment where young people can open up at their own pace. The sessions also utilise an interactive tool called the “Mind Star,” which helps clients evaluate and set goals across seven life areas, including self-esteem, emotions, and living
“ Thanks to the Women ’ s Giving Circle, Human Nature is delivering 90 trauma-informed therapy sessions for young adults. ”
environment. The process focuses on building strengths and slowly addressing areas that need support, helping young people develop life skills and heal from trauma in a safe and nurturing manner.
Women Up North is on a mission to empower women and girls through practical self-defence and advocacy programs. Women Up North’s Empowering Self-Defence workshops, funded by the Women’s Giving Circle, are providing that sense of safety, one skill at a time.
“Our workshops provide tools that extend far beyond physical self-defence,” explains program leader Crystal Whitney. “Participants gain confidence, learn to assert themselves, and feel in control of their environment.” Tailored to diverse needs, including older women, mothers, and those with mobility challenges, these sessions are creating a ripple effect of empowerment within communities.
The sessions are kept simple to ensure participants can easily remember and apply the skills in real-life situations. The first two pilot programs received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with participants reporting a near doubling of their feelings of empowerment. Women shared stories of practicing self-defence techniques with their daughters and
sisters, creating a ripple effect of safety and confidence throughout the community.
Workshops conclude with a call to action: each participant is encouraged to teach a self-defence technique to someone they know, amplifying the impact. “This isn’t just about learning to fight back, it’s about transforming fear into strength and reclaiming agency over one’s life,” says Crystal.
For survivors of domestic violence, healing often means starting from scratch. At Haus of Armour, this
process begins with a small but powerful gesture: choosing an outfit. The simplicity of selecting clothes may seem trivial to some, but for women who have endured years of control, it’s a step towards reclaiming their identity.
With funding from the Women’s Giving Circle, Haus of Armour offers custom styling sessions and three free outfits to 45 women in the Northern Rivers. But the impact runs deeper than wardrobes. “After years of being told what they could wear or who they should be, this is their moment to choose for themselves,” says Kate Jackson.
The initiative also supports sustainability by sourcing donated clothing from brands like Thread Together and DiSHH, weaving community care into every aspect of the program.
At its core, Haus of Armour is about dignity, and with every woman who walks out of the styling studio, a new story of resilience begins.
If you’re inspired by these stories and want to be part of the movement, visit nrcf.org.au/womens-giving-circle to learn more. By joining the Women’s Giving Circle every dollar becomes part of a bigger story - one where women find their voice, young people rediscover trust, and communities grow stronger.

brands and small grassroots businesses—one thing has become clear: collaboration leads to exponential growth on many levels. When you align with others who share your vision, you create something bigger than you could achieve alone.
Through Fusion Wellness events and PR initiatives, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with local business owners like Nadia from PBL Group, Natalie at Saje Beauty, Megan from Daughters of India, Kim at Kalm Springs, Kristy from The Whole Bride, and Natalie, owner of Pinky & Kamal. Each of them has been incredibly supportive, open, and kind when our vision aligns. The core of collaboration is to create a winwin scenario where all parties benefit.
In the Tweed Shire, collaboration isn’t just a business strategy; it’s a way of life. It’s about building a community where women feel empowered to take risks, share expertise, and celebrate each other’s achievements—creating movements, not just businesses.
A valuable tip for local small business owners is to tap into social media and community platforms. For instance, Fusion regularly runs exclusive social media competitions on local community pages throughout the year, designed to create a win-win experience for all involved. In these competitions, participants nominate someone ‘special’ for a chance to win a membership. The community page gains engagement and excitement, the nominee and nominator experience a heartwarming exchange of public recognition, and Fusion gains a new client to explore our beautiful studio and exceptional classes. These initiatives have always resulted in a PR “love explosion,” delivering the perfect outcome for everyone!
The Tweed Shire is a place where community support is woven into everyday life. It’s a region where people genuinely want to see each other succeed. From wellness businesses to creatives, the camaraderie here creates the perfect environment for collaboration, elevating each other as we grow.
The Tweed Shire offers a unique environment that fosters collaboration and growth for women in business. As the owner of Fusion Wellness, I’ve seen firsthand how this region’s laid-back coastal lifestyle, combined with its dynamic, entrepreneurially minded people, encourages creativity, support, and connection. There’s something about the coastal lifestyle’s slower pace of life, and the close-knit community that cultivates an openness to collaboration and innovation. What sets this area apart is the accessibility and authenticity of its business community. As a woman in business, I’ve found that local entrepreneurs—whether seasoned professionals or those just starting out—are genuinely invested in helping each other succeed. It’s not just about building business, but building a community where women feel empowered to take risks, share expertise, and celebrate each other’s achievements. In a place like this, collaboration isn’t just a business strategy; it’s a way of life.
When we collaborate, we don’t just build businesses— we create movements. At Fusion Wellness, we’re all about empowering women to create lives of purpose and inner peace. The most successful entrepreneurs aren’t necessarily the ones with the best ideas or making the most money— they’re the ones who are leading a values-driven life, who believe in themselves first and foremost, take action, and are comfortable with failing fast, failing often, and failing forward. When women succeed, their families and friends benefit; we all succeed
