DCA Good Sportsmanship Award Robert Schwalbe

For the past 16 years, Robert Schwalbe has been an amazing leader and volunteer across a wide spectrum of Dachshund Club of Metropolitan Atlanta, regional and DCA National activities. Initially, his focus was on field trials, earthdog events and conformation. He did everything from digging tunnels to RV parking to filling T-Shirt orders to cleaning bathrooms to developing Premium Lists to judging.

Robert has always been a strong, “roll up your sleeves” kind of leader, taking on significant challenges to keep our dachshund community thriving. Page

The Dachshund Diary

by Emi Pedraza, Lorene Hogan, Evelyn Riddick, Laura Reynolds & Catlin Cahill

For as long as I can remember, Rosemary and Alta were two people you could count on to be ringside at most West Coast specialty shows with at least one of their standard wirehaired dachshunds. They truly loved their dachshunds and the friends that they made as a result of their shared passion. Page 30

St. Louis Blues DCA 2023 Showcase

by Dr. Randy Eltringham

Thanks to the hard work of dozens of DCA and host club leaders and a large crew of dedicated volunteers, we enjoyed 27 exciting events which brought together family and friends to observe the wide range of skills and beauty of all types and sizes of dachshunds and their talented exhibitors. What great diversity we have in our dachshund community. Just take a look at our pictures. They tell the story.

Hi Members and Subscribers, It was earlier in the year than usual, but another successful National specialty is in the history books. Congratulations to all the winners and a huge thank you to the army of people that made this event possible.

Thank you again to Dr. Randy Eltringham, who with the help of many contributors, has put together another article that covers all the events - from the Field Trials to Best of Breed and all the other events. Thank you again to Ann Wlodkowski for keeping track of the Top Producers, the Register of Merit listings, and all the others that compile the many statistics.

The newsletter deadline dates will be back to normal now - the next issue deadline is July 15th. Also, the usual recurring articles (Obedience, Above and Below Ground, Weaves and Retrieves) will be back in the next newsletter - the Nationals articles and results had to take priority this time. Anyone is welcome to submit other articles, it’s always appreciated!

Have a great summer! Good luck at the shows, trials and all the events you and your dog enjoy!

Lynne
