WWW.THETWALKSHOP.COM i.c.stars Alumnus plans groundbreaking tribute to talent pool by planning organizational retreat. Chicago, IL (January 15, 2009) — i.c.stars Alumni Association, a Chicago-based organization devoted to the use of technology as a medium for positive social change and community impact, is planning it’s first annual Project Core retreat in Watervliet, Michigan. The first of its kind, the retreat invitation is open to all flavors of Alumni including singles, mothers, fathers, professionals, entrepreneurs, community activists, and those who are still finding their way in the professional arena. The first annual idea storm will be held Friday, March 13 through Sunday, March 15 with daytime checkout on March 15th. This event is being sponsored by the Alumni Association of Inner City Computer Stars. Alumni participants will “Connect with the Future” by bringing together talent and strategy from the shining stars of i.c.stars Alumni community, some of the brightest lights in Chicago’s IT community. Brandies Dunagan, Tiffany Mikell, and T’wanna Walker, the organizers of the i.c.stars|* Mother Luncheon 2008 are three of the Alumni slated to be in attendance for this ground breaking event. Additionally, all Alumni ready to enact ideas on a positive platform are encouraged to participate in what will be a true defining moment for the organization. At Stakeholder’s 2009, i.cstars will celebrate ten years of history. The brainchild of Alumnus Brandies Dunagan, Cycle 11, Project Core will activate a team of leaders ready to support the vision of 1,000 Community Leaders by 2020.” Lodging expenses include a one time fee of $45. All Alumni attendees are additionally encouraged to participate in planning sessions for the March event which will include discussions about travel, childcare, virtual meeting capability, and various other details. Food and beverage accommodations will also be discussed in the planning phase for this event. More than 150 members of the i.c.stars network attended last year’s Stakeholder event and Kastrul hopes to see that number increase this year as proceeds will fund the i.c.stars training program to help achieve the mission of developing 1,000 Community Leaders by 2020. About i.c.stars Formed in 1999, i.c.stars is a non-profit organization in Chicago for adults with a high school diploma or GED.


Using project-based learning and full-immersion teaching, i.c.stars provides opportunities to develop skills in business and technology. i.c.stars’ goal is to develop 1,000 Community Leaders by 2020. i.c.stars places 100 percent of its qualified graduates in jobs with average annual earnings of $35,700. Before completing the program, participants typically earn around $16,600.
