We are so grateful to Lassen Canyon Nursery for their sponsorship of Wings of Summer Butterfly House. This attraction is one of the most beloved and popular exhibits at Turtle Bay and it wouldnʼt be possible without the funding provided by Lassen Canyon Nursery. During a visit to the Butterfly House, youʼll enter a tranquil, enclosed garden and be immersed in the world of these beautiful and vital pollinators. Lassen Canyon Nursery has also donated packets of milkweed seeds and butterfly garden mix to help the butterflies in your neighborhood flourish! Pick up a packet (while they last) during your visit to the Wings of Summer Butterfly House exhibit at Turtle Bay!
Thank you to longtime sponsor Dignity Health—Mercy Medical Center Redding for their continuing support of the permanent exhibition Dam to Bridge. Showcasing our local feats of engineering and human ingenuity, Dam To Bridge celebrates the North Stateʼs iconic architectural works and our important relationship with the Sacramento River.
For 10+ years, Woods Pest Control has been committed to helping Turtle Bay care for our reptiles and insects. Their ongoing pledged support helps to ensure all of our slithering, spiny, and scaled friends thrive in human care! From food to habitat maintenance and veterinary care, the folks at Woodʼs Pest Control help us provide the best home possible for our important wildlife educators.

They say that the worst thing about being an adult is that no one asks you which dinosaur is your favorite. Thatʼs not a problem this summer at Turtle Bay!
Did you know that the asteroid that hit the Earth 66 million years ago created a mile-high tsunami that spread from what is now the Gulf of Mexico through the Earthʼs oceans? One catastrophe can change the whole world. Stage Nine is back, and this time, they are bringing the T-rex and a few of its iconic Cretaceous and Jurassic friends to explore the world before the event that changed the course of life on Earth, ended the reign of dinosaurs and allowed mammals - including us, to flourish and take over.
Curated by paleontologist Thomas Williamson and designed with all ages in mind, Expedition Dinosaur: Rise of the Mammals dives deep into both the ancient world and the modern scientists who piece it back together. So large it canʼt be contained in the galleries, this hands-on exhibition uses life-size and lifelike animatronic and replica dinosaurs and mammals, interactives – including a fossil dig and fossil scanning station, and augmented reality to explore the ecosystem that supported these giant creatures and highlight moments in time before, during, and after the extinction event. The asteroid experience gives you a dinoʼs eye view of what that day may have been like.
There are plenty of opportunities to leave your mark. The Dino Draw Live lets you color and then upload your own dinosaur. Selfie opportunities are around every corner, so you can let the world know about your favorite dinosaur – or prehistoric mammal. (Our favorite is the Shastasaurus – of course.)
The new ERB is also an exciting addition to our thriving Education Department! Within the walls of the new ERB building, we are eagerly preparing to host various enriching activities, classes, and programming! Excitement abounds as plans are made for horticulture classes, plant talks, and mini terrarium events. These offerings provide invaluable opportunities for individuals of all ages to strengthen their knowledge and wonderment! With the opening of this new space, we are also excited that it will be an additional classroom for our Summer Discovery Camps for double the camp fun!
The education department at Turtle Bay aims to provide the environment needed to explore the world through science, art, history, and more. Turtle Bay opens its doors to thousands of students yearly through school field trips, summer camps, Saturday programs, and beyond! Children of all ages can explore our Park while learning and growing in their education. Adding the Environmental Resource Building will provide us with more opportunities to offer more classes and activities and continue to promote lifelong learning through fun, hands-on interactions, and enjoyment!
The gorgeous new multi-purpose Environmental Resource Building (ERB) is now open, hosting classes, programs, etc. With spacious rooms that can be set up for various purposes, the ERB is yet another Turtle Bay venue for our guests, volunteers, and staff to enjoy and be proud of! The ERB shop will have garden-related items, books, unique planted pots, and more to purchase.
The ERB features bright but customizable automatic can lighting, earth-tone stamped concrete floors, Cedar plank ceilings over the classroom and deck, and other details that add comfort while still very much evoking its surroundings.
The spacious ERB deck outside the classroom has a railing with gates that let out into the Gardens, a perfect spot for a birthday party or other special gathering. Multiple classes and workshops, as well as other programs and events, are upcoming at the ERB. We hope you have a chance to visit the new gem of Turtle Bay Nursery! To find out more about hosting an event at the ERB, email events@turtlebay.org.

Branch House Riverfront Bistro, nestled along the tranquil banks of the Sacramento River, celebrated its first birthday this past year! Branch House prides itself on providing exceptional service and hospitality, ensuring every visitor feels like a cherished guest. Whether you're seeking a gathering with friends and family, a relaxing spot to soak up the sun, or walking on one of the many river trails, we are happy to say Branch House can be a place for anyone. We have loved opening our doors every Wednesday for Wine Down Wednesday and hosting Trivia Nights with Brain Battle Trivia every Sunday. We are excited to embrace more programming for our community!
Summer is approaching, and it is our favorite time of year! Branch House is thrilled to be a neighbor to Turtle Bay Exploration Park and the Sundial Bridge. We are proud to be part of guests' experiences on this fantastic property! Turtle Bay Members even receive 10% off dining experiences with us! Our goal is to carry the wonder and exploration of Turtle Bay through our Bistro, soak up the beautiful Sundial Bridge views, and be a vibrant gathering place for all who visit!

The Walk on the Wild Side animal show is entering its 17th year with new animal behaviors and a new theme. Prepping for the show takes about two months, and it all comes together as a fast-paced, choreographed educational show. The music sets the mood as a vulture flies inches from your head or a pair of adorable spotted skunks scamper across the stage.
While the show is quite educational, having fun takes center stage! All of the animals show off their natural behaviors, like a fox pouncing or a porcupine climbing. But did you know birds can distinguish colors better than we can? Our caracara will demonstrate that for you. Or how about that a raven can solve complex puzzles like a three-year-old child? Curie, the raven, is ready for the challenge!
But the best part of the show seems to be when the animals decide to do whatever they want! Thatʼs fine with us, too, because no two shows are exactly alike. So, visit over and over again.
