ARTIST STATEME NT “In my artistic practice, I work with concepts related to human interaction with the natural world: scientific observation, physical involvement, and cultural experience. I am attracted to the physical observation of natural phenomena and how culture affects this interface. I am fascinated by how mythology, literature and science form lenses through which we have interactions with nature. My process involves experimentation with ideas, method and media, leading to final works. In the past, this has included drawing, photography, sculpture, printmaking and interactive installations. My questions stem from unique perspectives, including classic children’s literature, ancient mythology, and rigorous scientific observation. I use simple forms derived from nature as a starting point, often exploiting radically different scale, from the microscopic to the monumental. This current work includes drawing, and sculptural installation and represents my continued investigation and interest in how we interact with and construct nature.”
