Erasmus programme oers studies in other European Union higher education institutions for a period of three months to a year. At present Turiba students can study in more than 80 partner higher education institutions under the Erasmus programme. Students of the 2nd and 3rd study years can participate in bilateral exchange programmes and study for one semester in higher education institutions in South Korea, Netherlands, Russia, Ireland, Mexico, USA, Georgia, Kazakhstan or India. The number of foreign students is increasing year by year. Youth from France, Switzerland, Russia, Korea, Turkey, Germany, Spain, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Finland and many other countries study at our institution.

Turiba University placed me at Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen, Netherlands for the Erasmus programme and I studied there for one semester. The International Business School at Hanze University has over 5 000 students and the majority of students are from all over the world. The Erasmus programme helped to explore Dutch culture, cities and gain experience and of course business education! I made a lot of friends and business partners. Studying in Netherlands is great but it's expensive. Turiba University oers scholarships and if you can live on a budget, it will cover most of your expenses. I definitely recommend you to study in Turiba University and to go for Erasmus exchange programmes. Suhrob Ernazarov (Uzbekistan) Graduate of Master in Business Administration, Turiba University

Studying and living in Riga, Latvia is my dream come true. The professional faculties in Turiba University, high standard of education, the most beautiful place to live are just few things that would make you want to apply for the exchange program with this university. People are so kind, it had barely been a week since I arrived and I was invited to go for a north skiing trip to the countryside of Latvia already. So great! I had the opportunity to meet students from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds. I had the chance to learn new languages and so many things that students from other countries were happy to share. The University’s structure is really nice. I love the arrangement of the buildings, the surrounding area, all kind of things that you can use here, for example, university umbrellas, wardrobe for your coats and kindergarten for those students who have children – brilliant. Riga as a city is just amazing. The train from Turiba University to Old Town of Riga takes only 10 minutes and it's not so expensive. There is Wi-Fi everywhere, I am so glad I can share my happiness with my family and friends through social networks. I should probably stay here for a few years to see all the interesting monuments, buildings, clubs, restaurants with local cuisine and all the culture events of Latvia. Just grab your chance to come to Turiba University and your way of studying and thinking will change in a wonderful way! And last but not least – the food is yummy!

For me living in Latvia as well as studying in Turiba has been a great eye opening experience due to the people I have met that I never thought I would meet, the friends I have made and visited at their homes. The kindness of people in Latvia is overwhelming - lecturers do their best to help you, and even people on the streets do their best to guide you if you ask. The weather also gives me the feeling of Christmas all winter long and the summers here are so colorful and cheerful. I hope that more and more people will discover that there is a beautiful country hiding in the Baltics, one of Europe’s best kept secrets!

Latvia is a really beautiful country in any season: in summer it`s so friendly with such great holidays, smiling people and interesting traditions; in winter it`s untouchable in its frost and beauty. I recommend all new students to try the buddy programme in Turiba University as soon as they arrive. My buddy is a great person, very friendly and interesting- she helped me to feel myself comfortable in Riga, like in my own city. Don`t be afraid to ask your professors any questions - they are not just professionals in subjects they teach, but also first and foremost people, who are willing to help you with clever advice. Study in Turiba can be relaxed and joyful - just keep in mind and never forget that you came here to become professionals and then you could enjoy every moment of being here. Also, there are wonderful possibilities of winning Erasmus scholarships that will help you to know the world around you, to find new great friends - try every possibility! Think about your practice in advance- you could get unforgettable experience doing practice abroad or in Latvia itself. Now, for example, I am enjoying my practice in Tenerife.

I studied MBA at Turiba University and am indeed glad that I made that decision. Turiba University has all the required facilities, including a basketball court. The University oers books, magazines, Internet access all over the campus and most importantly excellent teaching sta. Our professors always had time for us to guide us through the programme. The University oers Erasmus and Bilateral programs for studies in one of the partner universities abroad, plus you can go ahead for a double degree. I availed this opportunity and studied for one semester in the Netherlands. Turiba University also helps you start your own business in Latvia. The University has Business Coworking space, where young entrepreneurs can get professional support and excellent business facilities. Latvia is a beautiful country and it is a great pity that I could not discover all of its cities. Latvian students are very friendly, but are a little bit shy. After having worked as a German officer for quite a long time I started thinking about a Ph.D. during my service time in Afghanistan in 2010. To choose a doctoral programme is not an easy task. Many years of your life and your entire professional career depend on that decision. I chose Turiba for two reasons: structure and content of the programme and the willingness of Turiba to accept and supervise the special subject of my doctoral thesis. Due to the fact that the subject of the thesis is based on specific business activities in the defense industry I had difficulties to find a Ph.D. program. Fortunately, I found the Turiba University, which did not have any prejudices against this subject; completely contrary to various German universities. The second reason was the tight schedule of the study with three academic years, whereby the courses of doctoral study programme are designed in an ideal way to facilitate the development process of the thesis. I started the Ph.D. programme in 2011 with a comprehensive introduction in research activities, which have laid the basis for my further work. After this intensive and interesting "learning phase", during which I was constantly supervised and accompanied by the experts of Turiba, I started the work on my thesis concerning an "Offset-Execution-Model for Small and Medium Enterprises", thanks to the useful help of my supervisor. In parallel they forced me to write and publish scientific articles which were a complete new experience for me but essential in the process of training of graduate students. After publishing and presenting the first two scientific articles I am at the moment working on the third one. I’m currently in the 5th semester and can slowly recognize the end of the programme in 2014. All in all I can summarize so far that the Ph.D. project was challenging but also satisfying. Finally, I would like to encourage everybody to take his destiny in his own hands and to start an education at Turiba.

I left Africa and arrived in the very north of Europe for my studies at Turiba University. I needed to move from the burning sun of the desert to the freezing snow. Taking into account the dierences in attitude and human behavior as well, it was a tremendous challenge. The very warm welcome given by the University professors and sta made me feel more than at home. The attitude of the people at the University, the Latvian community, even common people on the streets, the eagerness of the inhabitants to succeed, the positive behavior of people all around me, especially my professors, the facilities at the University and the eorts taken by the Turiba University team made me feel extraordinarily positive and definitely enhance the study environment at Turiba University. Arguably it’s difficult to find an ideal place for getting knowledge and be satisfied with everything. But I like that Turiba’s staff tries to do the very best to prepare students for challenges of our constantly-changing world. Most of the lecturers are very responsive and you may rely on them. They inspire students to exchange ideas and respect values of new generation. Besides the number of lectures isn’t huge and you have some free time which is a big plus for young people. You may work or just admire beautiful Riga for instance. During the last study year Turiba had almost 300 international students. It’s an excellent platform for communication, breaking stereotypes, and learning from people all over the world. And it’s exciting. I think our life is all about learning and establishing relationships. Because to me at the end of the day the most important thing is how you have treated other people.

The University faculties meet the high requirements of international standards and educators are always available for students. As the Mascot-CAT says the school is bestowed with truth, care and initiative to growth. As I live in the Students’ Hostel, I can say that it is comfortable, clean and not expensive. The people are very cooperative and great to get on with and interact. There are many possibilities to learn and grow. Latvia as is often claimed is a great tourist attraction on the coast of the Baltic sea - a great nation with great culture and traditions to boast o. Riga is definitely the place to dwell if you wish to rise in life and have fun!

Living and studying in

Riga, Latvia Latvia

is a country in the Baltic region of Northern Europe next to the Baltic Sea. It is bordered to the north by Estonia, to the south by Lithuania, to the east by the Russian Federation, and to the southeast by Belarus. In 2004 it joined EU and has been actively developing its prominent new role in a rapidly globalizing world community. There are many interesting tourist sights for every taste. From the global viewpoint, regardless of the fact that Latvia is a land of rare natural beauty and rich cultural heritage it still remains relatively unknown - a terra incognita. There are only few places in the Central and Northern Europe which offer such a varied and untouched environment for friends of nature. Latvia in a relatively small area offers incredible diversity – forests, lakes, rivers, marshes and 500 km long sandy coast near the Baltic Sea. The proximity to nature – untouched nature in urbanized Europe - amazes most visitors. According to data of Yale University and Columbia University of the City of New York, Latvia has been recognized as the second greenest country in the world, immediately behind Switzerland. Latvia can be proud of its rich folklore heritage – especially, with folk songs dating back to more than a thousand years. More than 1.2 million folk song texts and 30 000 melodies have been preserved. Nevertheless, Latvia is renewing its old traditions, creating new windows of opportunity and proudly displaying a revitalized national presence on the European scene.

Riga is the capital of Latvia, the population of Riga exceeds one

third of total population of Latvia – 699 203 inhabitants. Riga is the largest city in the Baltic States and the third largest city in the Baltic Sea region (behind St. Petersburg and Stockholm). It is also the geographical center of the Baltic States. Riga is not only the backbone of the Latvian economy, but also a renowned center of education and science. It is known as the main industrial, business, culture, sport and finance center in the Baltic States –a modern metropolis which can be proud of its ancient history, unique architecture, high quality culture activities and exciting entertainment possibilities. It is evidenced by the numerous cultural events, international exhibitions, scientific conferences and seminars that take place in Riga annually. Riga has unique values due to its rather intact medieval architecture and that of later periods, its urban structure, the richness and quality of Art Nouveau architecture.
