Monoprinting

Instructor: Louis Meola

A monoprint is a one-of-a-kind print that can be made from a variety of traditional plates. in this workshop, students will learn how to make and print their own plates using carborundum, gum transfers, and chine collé. Demonstrations will include: mixing inks, handwiping, rolling techniques, and overprinting in multiple colors and plates.

SMFA's Online Certificate in Virtual Reality brings a flexible, intensive, skills-oriented program to students and professionals interested in the intersection of art and technology. Through six short courses, students will be given the skills to tackle virtual reality environment design for application in fields such as game design, healthcare, education, real estate, and many more! This certificate program will kick off during Summer 2022 Session One.

Built upon SMFA's unique interdisciplinary approach to art making, the Virtual Reality Certificate introduces students to the world of VR from the lens of an artist/ maker. leCTurer in graphic Arts i

sofie hodara is a boston-based multimedia artist and educator. often working collaboratively, she explores the intersection between traditional and emerging media in order to create beautiful, non-utilitarian experiences with technology. hodara is a member of the bromfield gallery (boston, MA) and her work has been exhibited across the country including icebox project space in philadelphia pA, Uc san Diego’s calit2 theater, and boston cyberarts gallery. Additionally, her work has been featured in Fresh paint Magazine, Made in Mind Magazine, the Journal of the new Media caucus, and the boston globe. she has completed residencies at groUnDWork retreat, the common press, and boxoproJects. And in January 2019, she spoke with collaborator and colleague, Martha rettig, at the Ar in Action Leadership summit at the Mit Media Lab.

hodara teaches design at emmanuel college, Massachusetts college of Art and Design, and the school of the Museum of Fine Arts at tufts University and lives in brookline with her husband, nate, and lots of art on the walls.

sArAh e. Jenkins

leCTurer in Animation i

sarah e. Jenkins (she/they) is a queer multidisciplinary artist from northern Appalachia. they create experimental stop motion animation, drawing, and social practice about natural resource extraction, post-industrial landscapes/histories, and invisible labors.

Jenkins’ work has been exhibited in the northeast and internationally, including the Museum of Fine Arts boston, icA boston, Wheaton college, the Lesbian and gay Association in germany (LsVD), and grrL hAUs cinema (berlin and boston). Jenkins was awarded a MacDowell Fellowship for the summer of 2021 and will be an artist in residence at the sitka center for Art and ecology during the Winter of 2021/22 and Marble house project during the summer of 2022.

JenniFer Liston MUnson

leCTurer in GrAPHiC ArTS i

Jennifer Liston Munson is a passionate historic preservationist and is currently an independent exhibition planning & Design consultant and Adjunct instructor at the sMFA at tufts University. her work combines high tech-low tech processes to expose invisible private and public histories.

From 2001–2018, she was a senior Designer in the exhibitions and Design Department at the Museum of Fine Arts, boston, where she created innovative, thoughtful, and unexpected museum exhibitions to interpret and display objects from diverse cultures and time periods, spanning from antiquity to contemporary installations. she has worked with contemporary artists such as rachel Whiteread, Adam Fuss, shinique smith, and takashi Murakami.

Liston Munson was the executive Director of the Armenia Museum of America where she transformed collections galleries and created new venues for contemporary installations and performances. she has curated an array of exhibitions that explore the ancient history of Armenian culture through present-day experience in the United states as well as contemporary exhibitions with artists who reveal the legacy of inherited human rights abuse.

she received an MFA from the school of the Museum of Fine Arts, boston and tufts University, and a bFA from Massachusetts college of Art and Design and Loughborough college of Art and Design in england.
