The Spina Centrale of Torino

In the Post-War period, Turin was the most important industrial city in Italy. The railway, in those years had played an instrumental role. All the big Steel-Industries, like FIAT, were strategically located right next to the railway.

However, after the ÂŤEconomic BoomÂť the decline of the Steel-Industry determined significant social and urban changes. Many factories were closed and all that remained was brownfield sites and the rail that splitted the city in two parts.
