Minor: Public Relations & Strategic Communication Management
How would you describe your CoMC experience?
The people at CoMC are some of the most fun, kind, caring and supportive people I know. There is a place for everyone at CoMC, and the people here will eagerly help you find it.
What made you decide on your major?
I was involved in sports broadcasting toward the end of high school and loved it, so I wanted to pursue that industry in college. I admired Emily Jones, the sports reporter for the Texas Rangers, and she graduated with a journalism degree from Texas Tech. I wanted to tailor my studies to sports and developing a skill set for written, visual, and auditory communication. Journalism was the major that enabled me to do just that!

Karmen Brown

My favorite thing about CoMC is the hospitable atmosphere. Our college is constantly catering to the needs of students and staff. We are constantly evolving and there are many opportunities for students to get hands-on experience and develop professional skills.
FROM OUR STUDENTS...

ALONDRA VELAZQUEZ
Degree: Digital Media & Professional Communication
How would you describe your CoMC experience?
My time at the College of Media & Communication taught me to push myself past my limitations and thrive as a professional. CoMC was a home away from home, where I made long-lasting relationships and connections that I will always be thankful for.
How has your experience in undergrad prepared you for your current role?
Being a Digital Media & Professional Communication major allowed me to have a broad spectrum of classes to pick from and explore. I could choose from taking classes that were on the more technical side such as Web Design or Data Visualizations or more traditional classes such as Internet and New Media Advertising or PR Strategies. These classes and many more gave me insights I now utilize in my role as an Ad Operations Associate.

CHRISTOPHER DAUL
Degree: Advertising
What is your favorite thing about CoMC?
My favorite part about CoMC is the amount of opportunities that are available to its students. No matter what major you are studying, there is always a team, club, or event that will provide you with plenty of opportunities.
What advice do you have for prospective students?
My best piece of advice for future students would be to take advantage of all the different events and organizations that happen around CoMC. By joining groups and showing up to events, you are able to expand your networking opportunities and get the most out of your college experience.
