HIGHLIGHTS OF TTSH DEPARTMENT OF CARDIOLOGY The Department of Cardiology at Tan Tock Seng Hospital is dedicated to providing the most advanced and highest quality cardiovascular care. Dr David Foo, Acting Head of department, returned from HMDP in 2007 and has since built up the Arrhythmia, Pacing and Electrophysiology service. This service oversees all patients who have arrhythmia-related problems as well as patients who need cardiac devices or cardiac electrophysiology studies with / without radiofrequency ablation. We have two invasive cardiac laboratories (Catherization Laboratory), each equipped with state of the art C-Arm with IQ2100 flat panel detector. This ensures accurate imaging, improved safety and reduced radiation exposure for our patients. We also employ the latest innovations including pressure wire assessments for an accurate invasive method of measuring coronary perfusion and ensuring that angioplasty is performed only when indicated.

Our newly renovated Cardiac CT Room and the Dual Source CT Scanner, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, is now part of our armamentarium of non-invasive cardiac imaging. The images are sharp and clear with a 10% reduction of radiation dose. A detailed report will be provided after the scan for the referring GPs to review and follow-up management with the patients.
