For head coach Kevin McCarthy, the 1982 football season was a memorable one, from psyching up the student body at the first pep rally to psyching up the players for the first game. Working with assistant coach Frank Menchaca, Mr. McCarthy was pleased to find speed, strength, and determination in his small squad.
Led by All-Conference First Team members Peter Fairbanks and John Pesakovic and Second Team members David Walker and Manny Palomarez, the Sentinels compiled their best record since they have been in the A.I.A .
"In my three years here," said coach McCarthy, "this team has shown more character and pride in their come-from-behind victory at Valley Union, a long way from home, than I can remember."
VOLLEYBALL TEAM: Standing: LOIS HOPKINS, ARLEEN GUEVARA, MOLLY RYAN, LISA GUMMEL, JANET HOPKINS, TRACIE PALMER, MS. SOISSON. Kneeling: TAMMI PALMER, TERI LOPES, LIZZY RYAN, THERESA MARTINEZ, KIM HOLQUIN, DONNA GUTIERREZ.

Coached by Ms. Marie Soisson and led by senior captains Molly Ryan and Arleen Guevara, the varsity finished the season with a record of twelve wins and only three losses, third best in the conference
The junior varsity squad, with Teri Lopes and Theresa Brice as captains, gained expenence as they compiled a four -win and five-loss record.

From rehearsal after rehearsal , from publicizing upcoming performances , from making up and being made up, from butterflies to bows, Mrs . Mariner's drama group achieves growth, as individuals and as parts of a real troupe .
In December, Mrs Manner's drama and chorus groups combined to present the meaningful Christ· mas play "Gi ft of the Magi," a musical based on the famous story by 0. Henry.
Weeks of rehearsal were followed by a series of product1ons, for the public, for visiting grade schools, for Seton parents, and for sen1or citizens

Quality, not quantity, was the keynote of the 198283 Seton chorus, under the direction of Mrs Eliza beth Mariner.
Besides working in class to improve technique, cho · rus members performed in public throughout the year, at all·school masses, at the groundbreaking for the new facility, at the Phoenix Civic Plaza, at the public library, at the senior citizens' center, and at the Christmas play performances, together with the dra· rna class.
