Um 17:00 Uhr nehmen die „Fünf von der Piste“ die Seilbahn und erreichen in wenigen Minuten die Bergstation von Meran 2000. Während Chiara, Manuela und Bettina sich ihre Skitourenausrüstung anschnallen, machen sich Silvia und Anna mit den Schneeschuhen auf den Weg. Ihr gemeinsames Ziel: die Kuhleitenhütte. Da der Aufstieg sowohl für Wanderer als auch Skitourengeher begehbar ist, können sie ihren Ausflug als Gruppe antreten. Übrigens: Bis 23:00 Uhr kann man immer donnerstags und freitags Skitouren machen oder Schneeschuh wandern – perfekt für einen winterlichen Tagesausklang. Ein herrlicher Job inmitten der wohl schönsten Bergkulisse weltweit, immer im Kontakt mit der Natur und mit den unzähligen Menschen, die hier ihren Urlaub verbringen. Hemma Trenkers Tag beginnt um 7:30 Uhr, wenn die meisten Urlauber sich nochmal im Bett umdrehen und von kurvenreichem Pistenspaß träumen. Dann ist Hemma meist schon dabei, alles vorzubereiten, die Maschinen zu starten, die täglichen Kontrollen vorzunehmen und, wenn es in der Nacht geschneit hat, den Lift vom Schnee freizuschaufeln. Muss die Pistenraupe ihre Runden drehen, dann muss Hemma sogar das Seil des Lifts aushängen und in Sicherheit bringen, um es anschließend mit großem Kraftaufwand wieder einzufädeln. A few of them even return after many years: like the children who used to attend the ski course back in the day and have long since grown up. The daily interaction with people and especially with the children is what she particularly likes about her job. What's more, she says, is that it takes a lot of resourcefulness. According to her, it also takes a lot of flair and a skilled approach when dealing with the little ones on the slopes. No matter how many people are queuing, you always have to make time for the children and help them onto the lift with proper care. This helps to reassure the parents and makes the little skiers happy to come back. Hemma loves returning to work every day. She loves being out in the fresh air, no matter the weather.

Oder vielleicht ist gerade diese Location die Wohlfühlzone für Menschen, die gerne jenseits herkömmlicher Standards leben. „Obwohl ich sehr froh bin, wieder in meiner Heimat zu sein, war die Zeit in England eine sehr wichtige Etappe in meinem Leben, die ich auf keinen Fall missen will“, erzählt der 48-Jährige.
