• Cardinal Systems on Route 61 is a leader of the pool industry, and the country’s largest single supplier of panels, steps, coping and components. There are also numerous small businesses such as Hess Catering, Spotts Insurance Group, Lewis’ General Store and Miller Bros. Construction, Inc. Business and community groups are working on a Strategic Planning Initiative, focused on bringing even more business to town and making sure the community continues to improve its quality of life. “All the business groups are working together including local government, borough hall, the Island Committee, Our Haven Foundation, the Walk In Art Center, the Revitalization Committee and of course the Greater Schuylkill Haven Area Business Association.” The business organization organizes several events per year, including: • Walk, Wine & Wander, which takes place in June.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN The charm of Schuylkill Haven is evident when you spend time there. Community leaders are making sure people who haven’t yet visited the borough realize the excellent quality of life and business opportunities in the area. “The local business associations are working together, revitalizing Haven, adding community structures to the Island Park, the trails through Haven, working on attracting more local retail and restaurants into town, and on marketing initiatives such as a new website,” said Cecilia Michalik, vice-president of the Greater Schuylkill Haven Area Business Association. The website, DiscoverSchuylkillHaven.com, showcases a lot of what the community has to offer, including shopping, restaurants, an art center, college campus, sports complex and parks and trails. “You get a warm welcome when you visit Schuylkill Haven because of the unique shops, parks and festivals,” Michalik said. “The town has wonderful trails for walking and biking, local ponds, the Schuylkill River and the Planet Walk. New murals provide a great artistic reminder of the history of the town. We also have a great educational reputation with outstanding sports teams and school spirit.” The Penn State Schuylkill campus is a notable highlight. The school is a leader in the area, hosting events that bring the community together. Notable businesses in Schuylkill Haven Include: • The Evans Network of Companies, one of the largest logistic trucking companies in the U.S., which has its headquarters in Schuylkill Haven. • Hydro Extrusion, which employs more than 1,300 and is just outside of town, is Hydro’s largest North American location.

• Merry First Saturday and the Annual Children’s Christmas Party on the first Saturday in December. • Crab Fest, featuring all-you-can-eat crab at Island Park in August. • Small Business Saturday, which is the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Other local events and attractions: • Street fairs/block parties through local fire stations. • The annual Schuylkill River Sojourn starts at Island Park in June and continues to Philadelphia, PA. • Borough Day on Main Street, which brings in thousands of tourists in September. • The Walk In Art Center holds regular art shows, education programs, exercise programs and activities for adults and children. • The VRAJ Temple is a Hindu retreat, and welcomes visitors from around the world. “Schuylkill Haven is a fantastic place for cost of living, great schools, good housing, and overall quality of life,” Michalik said. “People take pride in the town. It is a great place to visit, raise a family or retire.”
