WELCOME On behalf of the Polish American Chamber of Commerce (PACC) and its board of directors, I am pleased to introduce the new edition of the PACC Business Directory and Business Guide produced in collaboration with Town Square Publications. The directory is intended to serve as a resource for consumers and businesses seeking services, products, or simply more information regarding commercial and organizational resources located throughout the Polish American business community and beyond. In addition to a wide range of practical information and advertisements, our new directory also contains articles about the work the Chamber has done as one of Chicago’s Neighborhood Development Centers. This includes profiles of some of the entrepreneurs who are a part of our membership base. More importantly, it cannot be overlooked that most of the businesses you will find in this directory are members of the Chamber, and without their participation, the directory would not exist. I encourage

Originally formed in 1994 to represent the interests and to provide a network for the businesses of local Polish immigrants in the Chicagoland area, the Chamber has evolved along with the Polish and Polish-American business community. Today, the Chamber’s membership consists of local, national and international businesses, and it has become a conduit for accessing the Polish-American consumer market for main stream companies. Even more significantly, as Poland’s stature grows on the world economic stage, the Chamber has become a sought out and active participant in developing the growing bilateral trade relationship between the U.S. and Poland. ABOUT THE CHAMBER PURPOSE Established in 1994, the Polish American Chamber of Commerce (PACC) is a nonprofit organization incorporated in the State of Illinois as a business association. The Chamber is dedicated to fostering its members’ business interests, educating and facilitating commercial contacts, and building relations. As the voice of Polish American business men and women in the Chicago metropolitan area, the Chamber’s goal is to serve their best interests and help influence decisions and actions, which improve their economic vitality. U.S. IMMIGRANTS FROM POLAND Almost half of 465,116 US immigrants from Poland live in the Midwest, including about 150,000 in the Chicago area. Immigrants from Poland are a significant and growing part of the U.S. economy, especially in the Chicago area.
According to Polish American Chamber estimates, based on Fiscal Policy Institute and other data, immigrants from Poland own 17,448 businesses, which employ close to 200,000 people, generating at least $15 billion in receipts.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Polish American Chamber of Commerce plays pivotal role in Chicago’s economic development Successful business entrepreneurs know you can’t do business in today’s economic market with yesterday’s methods and be in business tomorrow. That sentiment couldn’t be truer for Polish-American business owners and newer immigrants who see Chicago as the land of opportunity, a place to make connections, build expertise, find success and connect with a welcoming and supportive business community. THE CHICAGO CONNECTION FOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Boasting the largest and most established Polish community in the world outside of Poland, the City of Chicago offers a wealth of business and commercial opportunity for the Chicago region’s largest European ethnic group. Nearly 1,000,000 people of Polish ethnicity currently live in the Chicago metropolitan area and are the largest European American ethnic group. Polish is the third most commonly spoken language in Chicago, ranking behind English and Spanish. On the front lines helping drive economic opportunity for this population on both the local and international front, is the Polish American Chamber of Commerce (PACC), an organization with a 21-year history devoted to educating and building beneficial business relationships among members and helping to influence decisions and actions that improve economic vitality. Recently named by the City of Chicago as one of its local Neighborhood Business Development Centers (NBDC) and located in the Copernicus Center Annex, the PACC receives
NBDC grant money to assist in its mission to help Polish American businesses start, grow and prosper. “From helping to develop a business plan to accessing capital, troubleshooting city-related issues, employment and workforce development assistance, business-to-business networking opportunities, and connecting with other businesses and customers, the PACC is a one-stop shop and vital connection to city hall’s Small Business Center, the local Polish-American community, and other resources designed to help business grow,” said Bodgan Pukszta, PACC executive director. “This grant helps us expand existing efforts and afford new opportunities for Polish American business development and connections.” The PACC and other chambers of commerce and business organizations named as neighborhood business development centers have strong neighborhood networks and coordinate efforts with local aldermen, the city and other community partners to implement the city’s neighborhood small business growth strategy. Centers help businesses with information about particular neighborhoods, getting a new small business started, troubleshooting city-related issues for small business, connecting businesses to financial resources, employment

and workforce development assistance, consumer marketing and connecting the business to the local community. SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT: THE LOCAL PROJECT SCOPE
Designed to help create jobs, facilitate job searches, create new businesses, improve awareness and understanding about doing business in Chicago, and to prevent businesses from dissolving or moving out of the city, the grant project challenges the PACC and others across the City of Chicago to enhance community and business outreach efforts. As the premier organization currently providing services in all business circles in Chicago, the PACC program recognition and new grant funding will help ensure the Polish American community is served and has access to vital programs and information designed to encourage greater integration and new business development. With a citywide focus, PACC’s current and potential membership base is concentrated in certain wards and neighborhoods of the city’s northwest and southwest sides. “Some of the trends and challenges we face are common to those faced by businesses throughout the metropolitan area,” said Pukszta, citing credit and capital limitations, building and space vacancy, regulatory demands, environmental concerns and transportation issues. Awareness of Chicago programs and services, he added, often is lower among Polish immigrants than among other immigrant and ethnic groups. “The PACC can help level the playing field by providing information about local City of Chicago programs for entrepreneurs and small business owners in the Polish community to help them grow and create new jobs.” THE POLISH AMERICAN CHAMBER TODAY Dedicated to the enrichment of all aspects of the PolishAmerican community and the enhancement of economic relations between Poland and the United States, the PACC was founded in 1994 and is the largest Polish-American business organization in the United States dedicated to fostering the interests of businesses, business owners and professionals on a regional, national and international level.
PLAYING ON THE WORLD STAGE
In addition to helping to support and spur new business development within the City of Chicago, Pukszta said today’s PACC membership represents not only the interests of Polish businesses of Polish immigrants locally, but has evolved to include local, national and international companies, many with deep roots in Poland and the surrounding region. “We’re a conduit for accessing the Polish-American consumer market locally as well as facilitating international connections and investment through networking events, by hosting international delegations and providing learning opportunities for members and the community,” Pukszta said. “Poland’s stature has grown on the world economic stage and we are an active participant driving bilateral trade relationships between the U.S. and Poland.” As one of the most rapidly developing countries in Europe, Poland is one of the fastest-growing exporters in the world. The PACC is actively engaged in promoting and helping Polish businesses establish their presence in Chicago and in the U.S. by planning and organizing trade missions and business-related events to help raise awareness of commercial and investment opportunities in Chicago. Capitalizing on Poland’s economic growth, PACC and member companies from other Neighborhood Business Development Centers also are able to offer business services such as trade and export financing or consulting to Polish companies seeking an entrée to the U.S. market via Chicago. Additionally, Pukszta noted, working with the PACC local companies interested in international expansion can gain a deeper understanding of the Polish market by developing relationships with Polish government, Polish trade organizations, industrial, science and technology parks, research and development corridors and Polish universities. MAKING CONNECTIONS & FORGING BONDS For more than 20 years, the PACC has collaborated with other community-based organizations, public officials, and private individuals in the process of offering its services and accomplishing its goals.
