Identify a Gas Leak in 3 Simple Ways SIGHT
A gas leak will often produce blowing of dirt or grass, water bubbles or dead plants.
SOUND
Gas leaks will produce a hissing sound near the gas line or gas meter.
SMELL
Natural gas is odorless. To ensure safety, Mercaptan is added to give it a “Rotten Egg” smell.
If you suspect a Natural Gas leak - leave the area immediately and call Fountain Inn Natural Gas at 864-862-0042 or 911! DO NOT create a spark by using electrical products or cell phones near the leak source. DO NOT try to locate the source of the leak. DO NOT attempt to stop the leak.
