ituated at the foot of Wisconsin’s Lake Winnebago (a location that gives the city its French name), Fond du Lac is about 60 miles from metropolitan Milwaukee, Madison (the state capital) and Green Bay – Titletown USA. This puts the city at the center of the state’s population concentration, an area with more than 3 million residents. U.S. 41 (a four-lane limited access highway with a 70 mph speed limit) skirts Fond du Lac’s western edge, providing the city with a swift route to Milwaukee, the Fox Valley and to the nation’s interstate highway system. U.S. Highway 151 links Fond du Lac with Madison on the south, and the newly constructed 151 bypass allows visitors to skirt the city on their way east.
More than 30 interstate and intrastate trucking firms use this excellent highway network to serve the needs of Fond du Lac business and industry. In addition, the Canadian National Railway serves the area. w

ake Winnebago covers 215 square miles and is Wisconsin’s largest inland lake. The 400 acres of islands and lakefront making up Lakeside Park
are a focal point for outdoor activity throughout the summer. The Fond du Lac area hosts 17 additional parks, featuring facilities for tennis, volleyball, baseball, picnicking, fishing and other family outdoor recreational activities. For those that enjoy the outdoors, campsites are available at nearby Kettle Moraine State Park. Several private campgrounds can also be found throughout the Fond du Lac area. There are many public golf courses that challenge the most avid golfers. hopping is fun in Fond du Lac! Finding just what you need is easy in the downtown business district, in an enclosed mall and at several shopping plazas throughout the city. The downtown shopping area in the center of the city offers plenty of off-street parking in 18 municipal lots – including two parking ramps only a block or two off Main Street. Downtown has everything to satisfy shopping needs – specialty shops, boutiques, sporting goods, restaurants and more. On Highway 23, just east of Interstate 41 (the city’s west side), you find the Forest Mall, a climate-controlled facility anchored by Kohl’s and Younkers. he people of Fond du Lac hold a strong belief in the value of education and they support a public school system that pursues excellence in all aspects. The Fond du Lac School District proudly serves approximately 7,400 students in 15 well-maintained facilities. The District consists of nine elementary schools, three middle schools and Fond du Lac High School seamlessly working together to ensure students graduate college- and career-ready. The District’s charter schools, in partnership with Mercury Marine, consist of the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Academy for Grades 3-5 and the STEM Institute for Grades 6-9. The STEM Institute will be expanding into Grades 10-12 one grade per year. Elementary schools feature blocks of time for literacy and math

The School District of North Fond du Lac is comprised of the Early Learning Center (which houses a privately owned childcare facility), Head Start, Early Childhood, four and five-year-old kindergarten programs; the Friendship Learning Center (grades 1-5), Bessie Allen Middle School (grades 6-8) Horace Mann High School (grades 9-12), as well as an Alternative Learning Center for high school students. Families enjoy the convenience of small town living with big time education opportunities for all children. Dedicated to attracting and retaining a world-class staff to serve all children, no matter where each is on his or her learning journey, the highly qualified and talented educators serve 1,200+ students. The District dedicates its resources to provide small class sizes, state-of-the-art technology support (school provided 1-1 computer technology grades 4-12) and many opportunities to become involved in school activities and athletics.
