Mayor’s Welcome As Mayor of Addison, I send my warmest greetings to you. Whether you are a new or longtime resident, a member of our growing business community or are visiting Addison for the first time, please accept my words of welcome. What brings you to Addison? I can tell you that for my wife Mary Ann and me, and our family, it’s the people of our community. A new resident can move to Addison, as we did 45 years ago, raise a family and have your children attend our school systems. our community, as I did starting as chairman of the Substance Responsibility Commission in the early 1980s, moving on to the village board as a trustee in 1992 and now serving in my second term as mayor. As I travel within Addison each day, residents will approach me to ask a question, let me know about an issue in their neighborhood or offer a word of support for one of our new initiatives. It’s that interest in Addison that helps me stay connected with our residents. A spirit of community is everywhere throughout Addison, and I invite you to experience the Addison Advantage. Chamber History The original Addison Chamber of Commerce has been serving the business community for 115 years! It all started on Nov. 10, 1902. In 1991, the Addison Chamber of Commerce merged with the Addison Industrial Association, which was subsequently renamed and today is the Addison Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Today the Addison Chamber is all about PROMOTING SUCCESS for our member organizations and our community. The Chamber is a community resource that promotes success by: • Producing programs and events that provide member organizations with relevant

ANNUAL CHAMBER EVENTS The Addison Chamber of Commerce & Industry schedules meetings with speakers and informational subjects, and business networking opportunities. Each January, they host their Annual Meeting, ection and the Mayor’s “State of the Village” address. Annual Student Honors Banquet recognizes Addison Trail High School top graduating seniors and presentation of scholarships.

Miss Addison Pageant selects Miss Addison and her court for the coming year. Winners receive scholarships provided by the Village of Addison, and preside at local events throughout the year. The Golf Outing networking event features golf and buffet dinner, and provides proceeds for the Chamber’s scholarship fund. All are elected at-large for four years with staggered terms. An appointed full-time village manager supervises operations of village departments. The village board sets village policy, approves the annual budget, determines the tax levy, passes ordinances and resolutions and approves subdivisions and other land use. The village board meets at 7 p.m. on the first and third Monday of the month in the village hall board room. Three standing committees hold regular meetings: Finance & Policy Committee on the first and third Mondays at 6:30 p.m., Building, Zoning & Development Committee on second and fourth Mondays at 6:30 p.m. and Public Health, Safety & Judicial Committee on second and fourth Mondays following Building, Zoning & Development Committee. Addison Fire Protection District The Addison Fire Protection District is an all-hazards emergency services organization providing fire, medical, rescue and safety educational services to the Village of Addison and the unincorporated areas surrounding the village. The Addison Fire Protection District is housed in three fire stations staffed with full-time, cross-trained firefighterparamedics. Emergency services are primarily provided via three paramedic-equipped quint fire vehicles capable of performing the multiple roles of a fire engine, a ladder truck and rescue squad. Three advanced life support ambulances provide paramedic services and transports to area hospitals: AMITA-Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Edwards-Elmhurst Hospital and AMITA-Adventist Glen Oaks Hospital. The fire protection district also offers a variety of community services, such as blood pressure checks, CPR and first aid classes, health equipment loan program, public and private fire prevention classes, residential key box program and rural address sign program as well as a robust young adult Explorer program. The Explorer program involves young men and women who are at least 14 years of age and not yet 21 years old. Exploring is all about helping young adults make a more

Economic Development It’s no secret that Addison’s thriving economy has deep roots in the industrial sector on the west and south ends of town. At the crossroads of several major highways and conveniently positioned to service the Chicago area, the village has long been a popular location for office, warehousing and manufacturing businesses. In total, Addison has approximately 21 million square feet of industrial building space encompassing about 1800 acres – roughly two-thirds of the village land area. The success of Addison’s industrial park and the additional retail draw on the west end of town has motivated village leaders to focus their attention on east side development in recent years. “We’ve been spending a lot of time making sure our east end isn’t hurt by our west end,” said John Berley, community development director and assistant village manager. Within the last two decades, the relocation of the village offices, the new Addison Public Library and the construction of the $27 million Elmhurst Hospital building all number among efforts to balance east side traffic against the regional draw of Addison’s west side. Most recently, the east side saw the arrival of the new Addison Bank & Trust, and Dunkley’s, a new burger and craft beer restaurant will soon open at the site formerly occupied by John’s Restaurant Pizzeria. Furthermore, improvements to the Village Green Festival Grounds have enhanced the experience of the popular and well-attended Rock N’ Wheels concert and car shows. With

an attendance averaging around 2,000 people per event, this free Thursday night summer gathering has been a boon to the east side. Residentially, Addison has about 12,500 housing units. And while the village is fairly built out, there are currently a few new housing projects on the horizon. A 19-unit ranch townhome project is in development at Woodland Avenue and Rohlwing Road Additionally, 30 acres of the old Addison Golf Course are being developed with single family townhomes. In the early stages of development, these Woodland Townhomes will ultimately comprise 87 new single family homes targeting the adult downsizer market. The village also plans to meet the needs of senior residents with the construction of the Clarendale of Addison senior living community on Lake Street near Marcus Cinema. In 2017, Ryan Companies US Inc. broke ground on this $50 million project that will consist of 100 independent units, 50 assisted living units and 40 memory care units. Ryan Companies anticipates Clarendale of Addison will open in the summer of 2019. Generally, Berley said the economic future is bright for Addison, due in large part to the village’s shrewd vision. “I have to give credit to the village board; they’re open-minded and they will make bold moves to get things going in the right direction,” he said. “They wait for what they think is best for the community and they’ve done a good job.”

Plastisol is capable of painting and coating a variety of substrates, including metals, plastic, glass and wood. Plastisol also offers top-quality powder coating services, an environmentally friendly option to painting. President Donald Malcolm Jr. oversees operations at the company’s 51,000 squarefoot facility at 1002 W. Republic Dr. in Addison. A family-owned business since its inception, Plastisol has remained committed to meeting customers’ individual needs while upholding the highest standards of the powder coating industry.

Porter Pipe & Supply Co. Operating out of a 330,000 square-foot facility at 401 S. Rohlwing Rd. in Addison, Porter Pipe and Supply Co. has grown considerably over the years to become one of the leading area wholesale distributors to the plumbing and mechanical trades. The company was founded by Ralph Porter in 1976 and remains a family-owned enterprise under the ownership of Jim, Bud and Nick Porter. A faith-based company, Porter regularly focuses on giving back to the community; volunteering with the Special Olympics and fundraising for Misericordia number among

Porter’s annual charitable activities. Many of Porter’s employees live in Addison, and the company has prided itself on maintaining a fun, family-focused culture through four decades in business. SWD Inc. SWD Inc. is a metal finisher and fastener sorter company founded by Dick Delawder in 1980. For over 25 years, SWD has specialized in black oxide, a conversion coating that provides corrosion protection and gives a rich, black appearance to parts manufactured by area customers. SWD has grown steadily over the years, from relatively humble beginnings in a 20,000 square-foot space, to the company’s current 170,000-square-foot facility at 910 S. Stiles Dr. A family-run operation, SWD employs a diverse group of roughly 200 people. Recently, the company held a job fair with the intention to hire as many as 25 new team members in 2018.
