Knowledge Base What is GEAR? Gears are machinery components, which are used to transmit mechanical power from one shaft to another shaft through rotary motion by successively engaging their teeth on the edge. They can be efficient ways to change the direction of motion, rotational speed, and the form of movement.

Gear transmits motion by gear teeth catch each other in same size and shape.

Direction Two intermeshing gears transmitting rota tional motion by opposite direction.

Gear Box Two or more meshing gears, working in a sequence, are called a train or a transmission.

32

Safety Gear The safety gear can protect the gearbox from being damaged by excessive force. B06

Normal State Part A11 drives the outer wheel to move together.

A11

When part A11 is under excessive force, part B06 will jump away to protect the gears of the inner gearbox.

Infrared in Our Life Infrared can provide auxiliary lighting for the monitor in the dark environment, let us see the monitor picture clearly, and provide 24-hour monitoring protection for many important places.

Two Helpers of Infrared IR Emitter : Converts electrical energy into infrared light and radiates it out.

Current Direction

34

IR Receiver : Converts light into electrical current and detects.

Current Direction

Minos with IR Sensors Minos detects obstacles through IR and reacts differently while playing.

Direction Minos uses two pairs of IR sensors and equips with two motors that move in different directions depending on the amount of current. Low Current

Cautions:

36

• Non-rechargeable le batteries are not to be recharged. • Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the toy before being charged. • Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged by an adult. • Different types of batteries or new and used batteries are not to be mixed. • Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used. • Batteries are to be inserted with correct polarity. • Exhausted batteries are to be removed from the kit. • The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited. • Do not mix old and new batteries. • Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries. • Parental guidance is recommended when installing or replacing batteries.

Troubleshooting How important is it to use brand-new alkaline batteries? Because MINOS is a toy with a circuit board, it requires high-power batteries to have good performance. So, it is necessary to use new alkaline batteries instead of carbon-zinc batteries.

NEW! AAA Batteries ×4 Alkaline batteries

1. When play the Bullfighting and Line Tracer Mode, the robot moves backwards. Please refer to page 13 step 3 check and ensure the wires of motors and gearbox are connected correctly. 2. If the robot restarts while playing, the LED eyes flash alternately in three different colors, it means that the battery is low and needs to be replaced. 3. Install the part B08 in Bull Bot and Dinosaur Bot improperly.

B08

• Part B08 is only applied to Dinosaur Bot. If install this part to Bull Bot, will reduce the sensitivity of IR sensor for the object detection. • If Dinosaur Bot can’t run follow the black path line, check and ensure Part B08 is installed in Dinosaur Bot , refer to page 23 step 1.

4. If the motors are working but the wheels can’t move, please ensure the shafts and gears are installed correctly, refer to page 5-6 and page 8-9. 5. Create your own black path line to play the Line Tracer Mode of Dinosaur Bot, the width of black line has to be greater than 10mm but less than 18mm, and avoid drawing the zigzag line. Black line width is less than 10mm

Black line width is greater than 18mm
