Ex-Kiribati Pres backs climate change action

The former President of Kiribati, His Excellency Anote Tong, has visited Saibai and Boigu this week to stand alongside communities as they prepare for a legal case against the Australian Government on behalf of all Torres Strait Islanders.

The case (see ad on p 4 for more details) is about climate change and its effects on Torres Strait Islanders, an experience shared by Mr Tong as his nation is just two metres above sea at its highest point. On-country hearings on Boigu, Saibai and Badu are scheduled for June this year.
