Inside the Square 2021

JOE MAGNAN ALUMNUS OF THE YEAR Matthew Michael Tattnall Square Academy was proud to welcome back alumnus Matthew Michael (‘99) as the speaker for the 2021 commencement services and announce him as the 2021 Joe Magnan Alumnus of the Year.

To say that Matthew has been involved in his community would be an understatement. He has served the Macon and Middle Georgia community in a variety of ways from serving on the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors to volunteering as a baseball coach for the North Macon Youth Sports Association.

Upon graduation from Tattnall, Matthew attended Georgia College and State University where he graduated with a BA in Mass Communication. He also holds a MA in Theological Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi.

In 2008, Matthew co-founded M&R Marketing right here in Macon. Since starting in 2008 with zero clients, Matthew and his team have grown M&R Marketing to serve over four hundred.

M&R Marketing also employs a team of over twenty designers, developers, writers, digital strategists, project managers, administrators and account managers. In addition, M&R Marketing was named one of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies in 2020 by Inc. 5000, and was named the 2018 Small Business of the Year by the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce.

When notified he had been chosen as the Joe Magnan Alumnus of the year, Matthew said, “Most of my memories and friendships in life originated at Tattnall, so it is an honor to have been selected for this award.”

Matthew lives in Macon currently with his wife, Kim, and their three sons Garner, Riley and Harper. They are active members of Northway Church where Matthew serves as an elder, and Kim serves on staff as Preschool Director.
