Resources

Over the next two months, several changes and/or updates will take place for next school year. These changes will go out to you via this newsletter and to your child via their school email. They will need to check their email regularly in order to better

Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) is not new to the district but is newer to the high school. Last year, teachers throughout the district participated in professional development on PBIS, provided by the Trumbull County Educational Service Center. From that process our PBIS committee developed our PBIS Matrix.

During our SEL WIN period, our students made suggestions for our PBIS signs that were placed in the classroom, hallways, restroom entrances, and the

cafeteria. These signs are intended to remind students what behaviors are appropriate in different areas of the school. These are all about accountability for everyone.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is an important part of Girard High School. According to the National Education Association, “schools play a key role in developing students’ soft skills such as beliefs about their intellectual capacity, sense of belonging at school, and eagerness to learn in the face of adversity.” Once a week, we have an SEL extended period that works on these skills. However rewarding that this is, we need your help during the summer break.
