The TRu DIFFERENCE AUSTRALIAN DESIGNED TRu Workwear's garments are light and breathable with high UPF ratings, stemming from the engineered yarns, allowing the garment to combat the harsh Australian conditions. The garment construction - tape and high-visibility material configurations - meet Australian specifications, providing the wearer with maximum protection. TRu Workwear ensures that every garment meets Australian standards where necessary.

DURABLE For a product to outlast the build it has to be built to last, this is why we construct all our garments from the yarn up. Through technological advancements and yarn spinning innovations we produce and test all our garments, ensuring they exceed fabric specifications and testing. The rigorous testing measures ensure we can stand behind our products knowing they will outlast their intended use.

COMFORTABLE Australia has some of the most unique working conditions of any country around the world. TRu Workwear is designed to combat the harsh Australian sun and its hot and humid summers as well as the cold crisp mornings. Venting systems which combine horizontal/vertical cooling vents and underarm mesh vents for breathability and fabrics with high-visibility color fastness and UPF 50+ protection to withstand the sun are essential to ensure comfortable working conditions. With the ever-increasing need for workwear to be worn, comfortable well-fitting products are paramount. All of TRu Workwear's products are fit tested and trialled for user comfort. Our garments are for the worker.

INNOVATIVE Yarn innovation is the driving force behind our garments. New spinning and dying techniques have allowed the production of garments that are lasting longer and are lighter yet offer more protective, essential components in Australian conditions. As a business we have been investing in research and development to drive this innovation to ensure we remain a market leader in producing industry first garments.

GARMENT FABRIC & MATERIALS

AS/NZS 1906.4:2010 Hi-visibility fabrics and retroreflective material What makes a hi-vis garment a most trusted safety tool is its high visibility properties. High-visibility fabrics and retro-reflective materials are essential for a safety garment, as stipulated by AS/NZS 4602.1:2011 Garment Construction. High-visibility workwear is comprised of two categories of materials; high-visibility and retro-reflective fabrics. These fabrics and materials have differing properties that create strong optical effects when responding to either natural or generated light sources. They are both uniquely essential for providing visibility in particular environmental conditions and times of day.

TESTING METHODS The AS/NZS 1906.4:2010 Standard aims to confirm a fabrics high-visibility with a ‘daytime colour and luminance factor test’ that compares the fabrics properties against the Standards benchmark. It does so by assessing the levels of the following fabric properties and additional durability testing as below. FABRIC PROPERTIES

DURABILITY TESTING

Chromaticity - Quality of colour independent of brightness

Colourfastness after UV exposure

Photometric - Perception of light in terms of brightness or luminescence

Colourfastness to washing test

Colormetric - Concentration of a chemical compound responsible for colour and other physical property requirements

Colourfastness to perspiration test

The result is a classification system which places the fabrics in four categories in terms of fluorescence and reflective properties, as stipulated on the right.

MATERIAL TYPES Retroreflective Material

High-visibility Fabric

Retroreflective material reflects artificial light such as car headlights. It is most effectively used during the night time in absence of daylight.

High-visibility fabric reflects the sunlight and appears brightest during the day. It can be either be fluorescent or non-fluorescent.

8

CLASS F

High Daytime Visibility Fluorescent Material Class F garments are the most common class. This class consists of garments with high-visibility man-made fabric without reflective tape. Fabrics woven or knitted out of natural or man-made fibers for a particular high-visibility colour range. The Standard specifies the use of certain colour spaces of yellow and orange/red. Fabrics that meet Class F have been engineered to retain more fluorescent dye, for a longer duration than natural fibres. Wet weather garments can achieve a Class F (W) where the material passes an optional wet weather test along with the Class F classification.

CLASS NF High Daytime Visibility Non-Fluorescent Material Class NF is given to fabrics - typically made from natural fibres - which have a lower chromaticity level due to the nature of the fabric. Natural fibres tend to be highly breathable, and for this reason many prefer its use to combat humid conditions and extensive sun exposure. Natural fibre garments tend to have reduced colour retention properties when they undergo prolonged exposure to UV rays. It is especially important for natural fibre garments to be labeled with the NF classification as they should be properly inspected regularly for colour fading.

CLASS R Retroreflective Material Class R Retroreflective material is applied to workwear garments in the form of high-visibility reflective tape. This material reflects direct artificial light sources - such as car headlights back to the viewer. This fabric type is essential for night-time garments.

CLASS RF Combined Performance of Class R and Class F Class RF Retroreflective and fluorescent fabrics. These garments meet all the requirements of Class R for reflective materials and Class F for daytime fluorescence.

GARMENT CONSTRUCTION

AS/NZS 4602.1:2011 Garment Construction High-visibility clothing is mandatory safety equipment for road, rail and any other industries with a similar high risk level. Safety garments should be worn by any persons who require visibility at a distance, against complex backgrounds and around conditions that obstruct vision. The AS/NZS 4602.1:2011 Standard acknowledges the tough conditions workwear must protect against and directs how a high-visibility garment is constructed. Construction refers to the garments overall design. In the case of workwear, construction refers specifically to the configuration and amount of two safety materials; fluorescent and retro-reflective.

This Standard accompanies AS/NZS 1906.4:2010 for Hi-visibility fabrics and retro-reflective materials. The materials in AS/NZS 1906.4:2010 provide differing levels of visibility depending on the time of the day, amount of light available and what type of light it is natural or artificial. AS/NZS 4602.1:2011 has therefore outlined what garment construction is safest for day, night and day/night use. Depending on the site and it’s working requirements, personnel need to assess which of the following classifications will provide the best visibility. Below are a few examples of products which would fail to pass the AS/NZS 4602.1:2011.

Incorrect Fluoro Area

Non-Fluoro Fabrics

Broken Tape

Fluoro area should be no less than 0.2m²

Dyed fabrics must meet chromaticity levels to comply with standards.

Reflective tape must not be broken or have gaps

THE RECOMMENDED TAPE PATTERN - BIOMOTION Biomotion is defined by two hoops around the arms and legs. This tape configuration although not mandatory is highly recommended in the AS/NZS Standard. There must be a hoop above and below the joint; knee and elbow. This will ensure the limb is visible when bent and increases visibility at a long distance.

10

CLASS D Day Use

The garment requires a minimum of 0.2m2 of unbroken high-visibility fabric, covering the front and back of the wearers torso. This section of fabric should not be broken or covered by features such as ID card holders. Logos, words and pockets are not included in this area. Likewise, Underarm vents that don’t meet the colour specification of AS/NZS 1906.4, are not included. Garment material must be compliant to AS/NZS 1906.4 Class F and NF material as dictated by the Standards level of fluorescence and high visibility. Class D garments should not be worn for night time applications. Fluorescent materials are generally not reflective when exposed to artificial light. Therefore, the garment would pose risk to the wearer, as stated on labeling.

CLASS N Night Use

Class N garments are designed for night time use only, where natural light is replaced by artificial light sources such as the fluorescent lights of a warehouse or the headlights of a car. For this reason, unlike Class D garments, Class N garments do not have a specified high-visibility material requirement such as white, pink and sky blue fabrics. Night garments instead rely on retro-reflective material in the form of high-visibility reflective tape, to respond to artificial light and create visibility. It is essential for night worn garments to have an adequate amount of reflective tape placed on positions of the body that are most visible. The standard outlines five exact tape configurations to the millimeter, which will ensure maximum visibility. Theses configurations are commonly referred to as ‘biomotion’, ‘double hoop’, ‘H-pattern’ (back and front) and ‘X-back’ patterns. Due to lack of Class F or Class NF fluorescent material these garments are not suitable to be used during the day.

CLASS D/N Day / Night Use

Designed to provide wearer visibility in both day and night-time conditions. These garments combine the requirements of Class D high-visibility fabric with Class N requirements of reflective tape configurations. Like Class D, Class D/N garments must have same 0.2m2 hi-visibility fabric on the front and back torso, compliant to Class F and RF material Standards. Class NF fabric, can be used instead, with the caveat of reduced high-visibility properties and differing care instructions.

SUN PROTECTION

AS 4399:2020 Sun protective clothing evaluation & classification Long days under the harsh Australian sun can be dangerous without the right safety equipment. TRu Garments are UPF50+ reducing the risk of skin cancer and premature aging.

ULTRAVIOLET PROTECTION FACTOR The Australian standard for sun protective clothing, AS4399:2020 is used to measure UPF (Ultraviolet protection factor). UPF refers to amount of solar ultraviolet radiation (UVR) that passes through an unstretched dry fabric. This includes both types of UV radiation that reach through earths' surface UVA and UVB. UVA rays are more abundant and deeply penetrate the skin with damaging effects such as photoaging. There are around 500x more UVA rays in sunlight than UVB rays UVB rays are the strongest contributor to causing skin cancers, responsible for the formation of malignant melanoma

TESTING PROCEDURE TRu Workwear garments are UPF tested in accordance with Australian Standard AS4399:2020. The UPF testing is carried out at the fabric testing laboratory of ARPANSA the Australian Radiation Protection And Nuclear Safety Agency. ARPANSA is accredited by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA). These companies issue test reports outlining compliance to the AS4399:2020 standard. A report will provide the UPF ratings of the materials tested but do not evaluate the design or body coverage of the products. When measuring to the Standard a UPF rating is calculated based on the amount of ultraviolet radiation (UVR) that can pass through a dry unstretched fabric. Wet fabric and the knitted materials create variations in the level of UVR protection on a garment. Denser fabrics with tighter weaves, stretch less and therefore offer stronger UVR protection. The standard allows for a variation in fabric types on a single garment, such as underarm mesh vents on workwear shirts. However, all fabric used on critical body parts must achieve a UPF rating. The AS4399:2020 version of the standard specifies three protection classifications, dependent on the amount of UVR blocked as corresponding below: UPF RATING

CLASSIFICATION

15

Minimum protection

30

Good protection

50, 50+

Excellent protection

The numerical score is based around the amount of UV that is blocked and is rated on a 15 to 50+, the highest assigned rating for a UPF rated fabric. If a fabric is found to block 95% of the UV rays, allowing 1/20th of the UV radiation through, then it would be assigned a UPF20 rating. If the garment is rated at UPF50+ then is recorded as letting through less than 1/50 of the radiation that hits the garment meaning it provides excellent sun protection.

For on-site outdoor activity you require materials with a UPF50+ rating, which is capable of all day sun protection

MINIMAL SKIN EXPOSURE The Standard assesses clothing for how well it is designed and constructed to cover the largest area of the body. This is expressed on the swing tag: “The UPF rating applies only to the area of skin covered. Protection may be reduced if the material is wet, stretched or from the effects of normal wear or exposure to chemicals. For best sun protection use hats, clothing that provides maximum skin coverage, sunglasses, and sunscreen and shade.” Garments maybe be intended to cover the lower body, upper body or all in one. Each category have specific requirements. For 'upper body' coverage, the garments sleeves must protrude more than 3/4 of the upper arm (i.e a singlet would not be sufficient) and include the shoulders and torso. For lower body coverage pants must cover at least halfway down the thighs, extending from the hip. SPF sunscreen should be applied to areas of the body that are left exposed by the garment, to ensure total protection.

LABELING The AS 4399:2020 stipulates that all compliant garments be permanently labeled with the following statement: Level of protection - "UPF50+ - Excellent protection" "Maximum skin coverage helps prevent skin damage"

12

Made for the Australian conditions TRu Workwear garments are made for the harsh Australian conditions, with every garment reaching a UPF rating of Excellent 50+. We take sun safety seriously giving all wearers the maximum UV protection as well as options for heavily vented garments to ensure heat exhaustion is minimised.

GARMENT CARE

LAUNDERING Hi-Visibility Laundering Instructions As stated in AS/NZS 4602.1.2011 High Visibility Safety Garments, washing and industrial laundering can diminish the high visibility properties of workwear garments

SAFETY INSPECTION

POLYESTER

Safety officers and workers should check regularly for garment fading, tearing, dirt/soiling, busted seams or other damaged components of the garment. When garments undergo industrial washing ensure that high-visibility colour Standards are upheld and garments are left unscathed by these cycles.

Polos

Garments should be analysed and examined for the above damages every 3 months to maintain safety. Regular clothing inspections are a common means of performing these checks.

LABELING AS/NZS 1905.4.2010 stipulates that accurate care labeling be displayed clearly on every garment in accordance with AS/NZS 1957:1998 Textiles - Care Labeling. The standard provides a uniform system of care labeling. It is part of AS/ NZS standards the garments be labeled with the correct care information as specified by the manufacturer. Labeling is often the primary source for garment care instructions.
