Bernadine (founder and owner) witnessed the consistent quality issues of plaster sand in SA, She soon saw the need for a good, durable, and flexible textured coating that would solve the consistent problems of uneven plastered surfaces and having to re-paint due to the crazing of plaster When established in 2006, TOT's core business philosophy was to produce an uncompromising quality textured coating

Since then, our research and ongoing developmental effort, have led to countless industry advancements and achievements.

HOW CRAZING HAPPENS

When water from the surface of the plaster starts evaporating due to high temperatures and windy conditions, it leads to wind cracks or crazing The wind creates hot air circulation at the surface and causes constant evaporation of the water from the plaster due to the high temperatures Our textured coatings can remedy such surfaces and transform your house from a overwhelming road map to a masterpiece

PAINTS AND PRIMERS

THE IMPORTANCE OF USING PRIMERS

Using a dedicated primer before your final coats of paint has many benefits The most important benefit is to ensure proper adhesion of the paint to the substrate A primer will also increase the practicality and longevity of your finish as it ensures proper adhesion of the paint to the substrate/surface.

In some cases, a low cost PVA paint is used as a primer. This, however, only provides two of the functions that a dedicated primer would A PVA paint will seal the substrate and hide some blemishes, but will not promote adhesion, which may cause paint to flake and eventually peel off the walls

Applying a primer coat over new surfaces seals the original material so that the paint doesn't soak into it, thus requiring extra coats A primer coat also helps to hide joints or seams on a new drywall.

The Project has won numerous awards including, most recently, a 2013 PIA Honourable Mention.

“The eye catching deep orange exterior of the Office Park was achieved using 60mm thick EPS (expanded polystyrene) lightweight cladding, fixed to a light steel framework which is bolted to the reinforced concrete structure. This technology is used internationally but is only now catching on in the mainstream SA Building industry. Our Levelscreed was applied to the expanded polystyrene for adhesion purposes A mesh was also embedded into the levelscreed and then rendered with our Textured Coating in a colour called "Cave Painting"

The owner of this lovely house approached TOT in need of a durable and long lasting product to put on his house due to finding himself having to repaint his house every two to three years because of crazing in the plaster and surface imperfections.

After preparing the walls, we applied our Levelscreed to the surfaces to ensure the walls are free from uneven plaster, defects and crazing Our levelscreed also promotes adhesion to almost any substrate, The house was then rendered in a 1.8 Grit Textured Coating and coated with our Render Guard to provide additional protection against UV and Dirt

From nada to Prada After poor maintenance, this house needed a serious face lift. The owner contacted TOT for assistance in turning his house to the masterpiece it was always meant to be

The house had serious crazing and uneven plastered surfaces as can be seen from the photos.

After preparing the walls and applying levelscreed to smoothen out the surfaces, we worked with the aesthetic design of the house emphasizing the entrance and other features around the house using a 2.4 Grit Textured Coating (now updated) tinted in a dark colour and applying the coating to a Doric Finish

The ceilings was rendered in a light colour in 1.6 Grit and the main walls of the house was rendered in a 1.8 Grit.

We are aware of the impact all our actions have on future sustainability of our environment This is one of the many reasons we continue to spend countless hours on product research and development In 2016, we started manufacturing our own range of Eco-Friendly, water based paints with low VOC (volatile organic compounds), utilizing recyclable paint buckets ensuring that our paint and packaging is as kind as possible to the environment.
