Cold Weather Start-up Trout Rivers products are meant for use in any weather, but special start up procedures are required in the cold. When the driver turns on the truck, he should engage the PTO. o This will warm up the hydraulic oil that is being circulated in the "closed loop" from the reservoir to the pump o Run for 5-10 minutes After initial warmup, If the trailer is empty, it is also a good idea to run the conveyor for a few minutes to warm up the hydraulic motors before use o Try not to engage all at once, this can shock the motor. Run slowly at first. o Run in forward and reverse If the trailer has any other hydraulics, they should also be warmed up at this point o When warming up hydraulic cylinders, run slowly and extend fully, if possible Once all of this is done, the trailer is ready for operation
