Trouble was born in 2004 in the central Victorian town of Newstead, beginning life as free street press and heralding a strong tree-change movement of artists and creatives into rural areas. The street press magazine achieved National distribution in 2010, and by 2011 boasted a CAB audited circulation of 20,000 copies monthly.
In 2012 Trouble again moved early to adopt a digital distribution format with the successful launch of an iOS app, a new, responsive website, and a fresh approach to social media.
