Experience the Trosa Archipelago Cycling and Hiking
Welcome to Trosa Trosa is a quaint and picturesque town that often tops the lists of Sweden’s most beautiful towns and most popular destinations. The lovely archipelago location and the walks along the beautiful Trosa River are frequently mentioned as top summer excursions. However, Trosa is a vibrant area with service, shopping, food, lodging, events, and leisure activities all year round! Trosa is located along the country road of “Utflyktsvägen”, on coast of the province of Sörmland, forty kilometres north of Nyköping and seventy kilometres south of Stockholm. You can easily get here with the Trosa bus that runs regularly between Stockholm/ Liljeholmen and Trosa. The bus ride takes only 55 minutes. Trosa offers something for everyone. Beautiful nature areas with opportunities for hiking, cycling, golfing, and kayaking, among other things. Add to that personal and unique shops, several reputable restaurants that serve first-class food, charming cafés, and a unique archipelago. In summertime, there is a tour boat to the island of Kråmö, where you can rent a cabin, swim, and relax. During winter, the action-packed ski slope and golf club ski tracks are highly popular. Berg’s Farm has MTB trails and loops, a climbing wall, and lots of fun for the kids, including the opportunity to meet the farm animals. The farm also has a restaurant/café. This town is so much more than just a summer city. We invite you to discover Trosa and all that it has to offer.

More than 1,000 km long, the Sörmlandsleden Trail runs along the Trosa River and continues past the Tullgarn Castle. The trail takes you through history, deep forests, and glittering lakes. Along the way, you’ll find wind shelters and established rest areas. If you want to experience the wilderness, hike the Åda Wild Boar Trail, which runs through unpaved terrain in unique and varied forest. At Berg’s Farm, which is open all year round, you can go mountain biking, trail running, or hiking. You’ll find a technical area, 28 km of MTB trails and loops in the forest, as well as guided tours and bicycle rental. SÖRMLANDSLEDEN
SÖRMLANDSLEDEN TRAIL
In the centrally located Vitalis Forest, which is also where the ski slope is, are three MTB trails of varying difficulty. At Häradsvallen in Vagnhärad you’ll find two loops; one is 1.6 km and the other 2.3 km. “Utmärkt gångväg” and “Vagnhärad runt” are health trails on easily accessible road. Maps can be found at the Tourist Information Centre. The Näckrosleden Trail is a bicycle path that runs through the whole of the province of Sörmland. It’s divided into 14 subsections, each making for a suitable daytrip. In the outdoor guide “Naturkartan”, you’ll find more information on Trosa’s nature and outdoor life. The archipelago, the Trosa River, and the lakes offer great opportunities for regulated recreational fishing. For years now, there has been a so-called fishery conservation area in order to manage and cultivate the fish stocks in and around the Trosa River. The aim is to maintain the diversity, fish stock, and excellent recreational fishing in the Trosa River. You’ll find countless opportunities to enjoy Trosa’s beautiful surroundings. The archipelago town of Trosa More than 10,000 years old, the archipelago in the province of Sörmland spans 60 kilometres of coastal line and comprises the municipalities of Trosa, Nyköping, and Oxelösund. In addition to 2,800 some islands, there are numerous islets and skerries. The Sörmland archipelago is not as exploited as many others along the Swedish coast, and large areas constitute nature reserves. Within convenient boating distance from Trosa is the idyllic archipelago island of Kråmö, Trosa Municipality’s own holiday island. The archipelago reserve consists of the main island of Kråmö and seven smaller islands. Stroll through hiking-friendly flat rock forest and across meadows and beaches – all highly popular among visitors. However, great natural values can be found below the surface as well, including eelgrass beds, mussel banks, and bladderwrack belts. The buildings on the island mainly consist of small
fishing sheds, which contributes to the authentic archipelago setting. In the harbour, you can go swimming and enjoy an ice cream from the kiosk. The island has an old archipelago homestead that dates back to the 17th century and that used to be part of the Tureholm Estate. The subject of countless stories, Tärken is a legend who lived on Kråmö for 52 years. Einar Tärk and his wife Hilja were the last two residents on the island before finally moving to Trosa in 2003. Einar, who fled Estonia in a rowing boat in the 1940s, built sterling fishing boats in his little shipyard on Kråmö, where some of his life’s work is still preserved. If you’re in the mood for a swim, you’ll find four municipal swim areas – Komöte, Sillebadet, Trosa Havsbad and Borgmästarholmen. The Trosa Harbour has jetties for kayak launching, by ABCbryggorna, Suckarnas bro in the Trosa Marina, or at Västra Stadsfjärden behind Trosa Hostel.

Along the river, you’ll also find the giant ash tree. In the autumn, with its bright yellow leaves against the clear blue sky, it’s simply breath-taking. During advent, pitch torches are lit along the river. A magical walk, with the light from the torches illuminating the way along the beautiful turn-of-the-century buildings. If you love nature, you’ll find a wide range of experiences, including hiking and cycling trails, walking paths, ski slopes, cross-country trails, and numerous MTB trails. You can also rent a boat, bicycle, kayak, canoe, SUP, and portable gas stove. TROSA HOMESTEAD MUSEUMS AND THE LÅNGMAREN MUSEUM FARM Be sure not to leave Trosa without visiting one of its lovely homestead museums. In addition to the beautiful settings, events are organised for both young and old. In Trosa’s oldest district, you’ll find Garvaregården, carefully preserved by the local heritage society. Visit the tanner’s home with furnishings that belonged to the tanner family, and a workshop with tools that were used by the last tanner, Carl Jacob Dahlbom. Garvaregården is open during summer and houses the town museum and a handicraft shop. In the lush garden you’ll find a café. The Trosa Summer Theatre performances during July are highly popular. Comprising eight historically interesting buildings, the Trostorp Homestead Museum is located between Trosa and Vagnhärad. Two of the buildings are of particular historical interest: Trostorpsstugan and Åbrostugan. Trostorpsstugan is an old

18th century tenant croft with an extension from the 19th century. Åbrostugan was originally located in Åbro outside Vagnhärad, but was moved to Trostorp in the 1940s. The cottage, which was built in 1758, is a so-called semi-detached cottage with a magnificently painted interior. During summer, Trostorp is an immensely popular destination. The area around Trostorp is rich in ancient remains, such as burial grounds, rune stones, and the old medieval town. There is also a fairy-tale forest, a playground, and a café. In addition, various celebrations take place here. Along road 219, in the northern part of Nynäs Nature Reserve, you’ll find the Långmaren Museum Farm. The farm has an unusually well-preserved peasant history, and the buildings, as well as the land immediately surrounding the farm, are now historic landmarks. The Sörmlandsleden Trail passes through Långmaren, and you can visit the farm at any time. During summer, you can enjoy coffee and basic treats, go on guided tours, and attend various events linked to the history of the site.
