Founded over thirty years ago, Orange Hill originates in the traditional calypso music of the San Andrés, Providencia archipelago, and of Santa Catalina. The Orange Hill, birthplace of the six musicians (most of them were originally farmers or fishermen), is one of the well known neighbourhoods of San Andrès where multiple formations with warm and colored sounds can be found. Orange Hill is one of those endearing bands, with bewitching caribbean rhythms, seemingly made for an endless pulsating summer under the sun’s beams. Orange Hill is devoted to the thriving of local culture and constantly strives to open the way for a new generation of musicians.
Fondé il y a plus de trente années, le groupe Orange Hill s’inscrit dans la droite lignée de la musique traditionnelle calypso de l’archipel de San Andrés, Providencia et Santa Catalina. L’Orange Hill, d’où proviennent les six musiciens (la plupart d’entre eux fermiers ou pêcheurs à l’origine), est l’un des quartiers bien connu des résidents de San Andrés, où l’on retrouve de multiples formations aux sons chauds et colorés. Orange Hill fait partie de ces groupes attachants, aux ryhtmes et sonorités carraibéennes des plus ensorcelantes, pour un été dansant bercé par les rayons de soleil, sans fin. Orange Hill œuvre pour le rayonnement de la culture locale et ouvre la voie en permanence à la nouvelle génération de musiciens. 21
