Tristan Taylor Architecture Student
To whom it may concern:
Lawrence, KS
I am delighted to apply for the Studio 804 DesignBuild Program, the Gensler/GastingerWalker Program, and the Urban Design Program as 5th year options. As I have progressed through my degree plan, I have begun to develop my skills as a designer, a project coordinator, and a builder. I believe that this development has put me in a position in which I can expand and apply my skills to contribute to these teams.
My skills in both digitized and physical craftsmanship gathered throughout my past studios would be a great fit in these programs because of their ability to cater towards and create a positive human experience. I am also able to work well both in teams and as an individual, and my adaptive ability to maintain productivity in a variety of environments will aid in the multiple locations, in-house and on site, in which these programs practice.
My experience in my third year DesignBuild program will also aid in the objectives of these programs, as I was a leading member in the elements that were built during that semester’s project. Those elements include the design of a fence for Grandview Park Presbyterian Church, which led to a further understanding of community engagement, client interactions, and efficient and sustainable design. Not only did I enjoy the digital and physical aspects, but I also achieved engagement with the community in order to provide our client with quality work in order to service the church and the community itself.
After reviewing these programs’ objectives and the results of existing designs and constructions, I feel that I would be a strong suit for them, and I strongly believe that they will agree. I also believe that they will provide opportunities to further learn about and and practice sustainable design, as the future of the environment will be influenced by architecture.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Tristan Taylor
