Trinity Sixth Form Entry 2019

The Headmaster’s Welcome The rigorous pursuit of excellence balanced by compassionate concern for individuals. Trinity School’s mission

At Trinity it is not just what our students achieve that matters, but as important is what kind of young people they become and what they choose to do when they leave us. We have fostered a welcoming, diverse and grounded community in which our students feel cared for and supported. Within that, I am confident that they will be able to express the gifts they have, to thrive academically and to respond well to being challenged intellectually. Our students achieve some of the best academic results in the country, giving them access to the world’s best universities and exciting work opportunities, but academic confidence is only one part of their development; they are also actively encouraged to take up the wealth of opportunities we offer outside the classroom, and we are proud too that they play an active role in building and caring for our local community. The transition from the Fifth Year (Year 11) to the Sixth Form marks the start of an important and exciting new stage at school. There will be considerable opportunities to develop leadership skills in tandem with a greater sense of responsibility, and to prepare as a young adult

for the next stage of education. After managing the challenge of completing a large number of GCSEs, students welcome the opportunity to select four A Levels and will find the detailed study of these subjects more satisfying and demanding than the broader, but necessarily more superficial, approach which they have encountered so far. With well over 20 subjects from which to chose, an enrichment programme and an independent research project, all set within our over-arching Diploma, our Sixth Form provides a stimulating learning experience. My commitment to every Trinity student is that they will acquire new knowledge, skills and interests, as well as a strong set of values so that, when they leave Trinity, we can be proud of their achievements and be delighted by the sort of person they have become. I would very much like to welcome you to the School so you can experience for yourself the spirit of Trinity and its warm, purposeful atmosphere.

Alasdair Kennedy Headmaster
