PRODUCT DESIGN BA/BSc(Hons) Product designers define the world around us, they give it form and material quality, they make it usable and sensible and they have to do this in an economic and sustainable way. Both programmes deal with the design and development of mass-produced consumer products, systems and services. Where they differ is in their approach to new product development.

Strain artefacts. Emphasis is placed on idea generation, form development and product styling through studio and workshop practice, allied with a sound understanding of materials and manufacturing. The programme integrates traditional studio practice with state-ofthe-art digital tools, with students utilising the latest versions of industry-standard computer aided design and visualisation software, and rapid prototyping facilities. BSc(Hons) Product Design This programme integrates the use of industry standard, state-of-the-art, digital design tools and time compression technologies into the design process
allowing for the exploration and realisation of product Making solutions through creative, technical and analytical design practices. There is a strong emphasis on the Plaster detailed resolution of product proposals with regard to the enabling technologies, material choice and manufacturing criteria. This programme of study Mould gives students the opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge and intellectual abilities to undertake the computer aided design and development of new products based upon a clear understanding of scientific and technological principles.
Research & Industrial Links The teaching team are all experienced designers who are either engaged in industrial practice or are research active. Â The courses include live design projects which enable students to engage with both major companies and small entrepreneurial businesses. Staff practice, industrial contact and live projects ensures that students are fully prepared for the demands of employment.
