WINTER SPORTS

Wrestling

Wrestling is again part of Trinity ’ s athletic program. “Our focus was on learning the sport and learning to love the sport, ” said Coach Eric Gobble. “Wrestling takes a terrific amount of physical and mental toughness and the team worked on developing that throughout the season. Our slogan for the season was, “building the unbreakable, ” he said.

Most of the regular season matches were against Group AAA public junior varsity teams. By the end of the winter season, the team had jumped up to the varsity level and competed in the Virginia Prep League Tournament where freshman Sam Parker and sophomore Connor Ashley both won matches. The team took four wrestlers to the state tournament where Ashley won a match. “Even once we are experienced, we want our program to be known for hard work, determination and exceeded expectations, ” said Coach Gobble.
