There are, by the reckoning of sociologists, seven generations at Trinity School today. From the Greatest generation, who prayed for a school like Trinity, to the Silent and Boomer founders and pioneers, to the Gen X and Millennial settlers who came to the school when it was established but still very much in formation, to our Gen Z young alums and Upper Schoolers, to our Gen Alpha Lower and Middle School students. Without any one of these generations, there is no Trinity School. The torch of classical Christian learning has to be passed from person to person, and if any one of these links in the Trinity chain breaks, we are done for. So we need each other in all sorts of ways.
Dr. Chip Denton
Head of School
Those of us who have come to the school more recently are sitting under the shade of trees we did not plant, and we drink from wells we did not dig (Deuteronomy 6:10-12). This land at the end of Pickett Road and every building and field on our campus were gifts given by generous souls who believed in our mission. And if the youngest among us, our students and our prospective students, do not embrace this vision of an education formed and shaped by the Good News about Jesus, the very purpose of Trinity School begins to unravel.
I am grateful beyond words that here at the end of our 28th year, we can see the faithfulness of God in the ongoing generosity of the Trinity community. I am grateful that we met and even exceeded our Trinity Fund goal. I am deeply thankful that God brought us Andrew Phillips to lead our advancement efforts. Enrollment is higher than it has ever been, and demand for admission is rising. We launched a visionary and inspirational strategic plan to pass the mission on to the next generation, and even in this first year we accomplished a number of the goals that make that vision a reality.
This report is our tribute to our great God and our thanks to you, the Trinity community, who are fulfilling the mission of Trinity year after year, generation after generation.

Onan overcast spring day, Trinity grandparents Ronald and Jean Copeland sit on rockers outside their red-colored neighborhood market store, greeting guests as they come and go. Ronald points toward the corner of the intersection and shares, “Every September, a little sign goes up over there saying ‘Ragan and Holly’s Pumpkin Patch.’”
Ronald’s grandfather founded the Copeland family business in 1918, and what was once a nursery has since blossomed into a neighborhood market, a mulching business, a pumpkin farm, and a strawberry patch. The pumpkin patch, which opened after the Copelands’ granddaughters Ragan ’20 and Holly ’23
Copeland started attending Trinity, has provided an extra source of income to fund the girls’ Trinity education. “God has blessed us way, way, beyond what we ever would have deserved,” Ronald says. Jean enjoys the continual flow of Trinity families to the farm in the spring and fall. “I always look forward to moms coming to the farm with their Trinity students, and I look to the future when those same students will come here as moms.”
Dick and Peggy Garner, Ragan and Holly’s maternal grandparents, have spent countless hours behind the wheel of their car, making their way from their home in Myrtle Beach, SC, to Trinity, where they’ve supported
their granddaughters’ events. “My granddaughters have learned to be loving, kind, and compassionate at Trinity,” says Peggy. Dick believes the most important way he and his wife have given back has been to show up and partner with the school. “It’s very unusual to have both sets of grandparents alive. That’s been a critical part of Ragan and Holly’s time at Trinity.”
Lisa and Will Copeland, Ragan and Holly’s parents, also believe in giving back. They’ve been faithful volunteers at Trinity from the girls’ first days at the school until now, helping with everything from chauffeuring field trips to serving in the Trinity Parent Organization. “Driving was my specialty,” says Lisa. “I had a Suburban and I would load it up with kids.” In the early days of Trinity, kindergarten classes took field trips to the farm to pick strawberries, and Lisa and Will often opened their home for Trinity pool parties.
Just as the family has been generous to Trinity through their farm and their service, they have also been generous through their finances. Together, the Copeland and Garner families have a combined 20 years of annual fund support. “Money isn’t worth a nickel in the bank if you don’t do something with it,” Ronald says, “and we want to do something with it.” Dick couldn’t agree more. “We want to support whatever we can, as long as we can,” he says. Sharing their time, treasure, and talents with
the school flows from their desire to make an impact and give back in return for what they feel their grandchildren have already been given.
“Money isn’t worth a nickel in the bank if you don’t do something with it,” Ronald said, “and we want to do something with it.”
“The Trinity motto that your kid is known and loved is one hundred percent true for our girls,” Lisa shares. “To know that they are known and loved has helped shape and mold who they are today.” Ragan graduated from Trinity in 2020, and her sister Holly has just turned the tassel to the other side to complete her Trinity education. As the family looks to the future, they are optimistic about staying connected to the school.
“Trinity helped nurture in my children a great amount of feeling and knowing,” Lisa says, “and I really feel that they will be grateful for the rest of their lives for the education and love that they received here.”
The Trinity Fund allows us to continue to offer an education in which each student is known and loved as a unique person created in God’s image. When you give to the Trinity Fund, you are playing a central role in what God is doing at Trinity— providing an education that’s rich, unhurried, and focused on building a future generation of virtuous Christian leaders.

Endowments support the long-term growth of Trinity by generating annual support while still growing in total value over time. Families, organizations, and individuals have collectively given over $1M, allowing our endowment to grow to a total value of over $1.6M today.
Endowments support areas such as faculty professional development, scholarships for students with financial need, and scholarships that promote socioeconomic and racial diversity.
Your family has the opportunity to create named endowment funds at Trinity to support the scholarships or programs that are important to you. A named and unrestricted endowment can be established with an investment of $50,000, while a named and restricted endowment can be established with an investment of $100,000.
>$1,655,000 combined endowment value, with an average annualized return of over 7% since inception

General Endowment
The general endowment provides direct scholarship support to students and families with demonstrated financial need.
Non Nobis Scholarship/Endowment
The Non Nobis (“Not to us”) Endowment alleviates financial hurdles related to attending Trinity, enabling access to a rich Trinity education while increasing the school’s socioeconomic and racial diversity.
The Anna K. Stouffer Endowment was established through the generosity of the Stouffer family and provides direct scholarship support to families who demonstrate financial need.
Lux Esto Endowment
The Lux Esto (“Be a light”) Endowment awards needbased scholarships for socioeconomic or racial minority students and is renewed annually to provide scholarship support for student(s) throughout their Middle and Upper School time at Trinity.
When you give to the Non Nobis Endowment, you are preparing students for benevolent engagement with the culture at large. Exposure to various cultures, life experiences, and perspectives serves to train young people to see goodness in the variety of God’s human creation. This leads to a deeper and richer appreciation for beauty, one that honors the full spectrum of color and is not monochromatic.

Profile of a Student
A Non Nobis student is diverse, intelligent, and generous. Many students receiving this scholarship would not be at Trinity if not for your support. They range in ages and are passionate about many different things— from literature to athletics to STEM to the arts. They make up a community of learners that are an essential part of Trinity’s culture.
Fred Brooks and his family were instrumental in the founding of Trinity. Earlier this year, Dr. Brooks went home peacefully to be with the Lord at the age of 91. His investment in the mission of Trinity will be remembered for generations to come.
The Fred Brooks Memorial Fund was created to celebrate and honor Dr. Brooks’s legacy. As an educator himself, he understood how critical faculty professional development was to the mission of a school. This memorial fund will sustain the ongoing work of Trinity by supporting professional development that deepens and advances our distinct mission.

Since its inception in 2015, the Sunshine Tuition Assistance and Relief (STAR) Fund has distributed over $80,000 in emergency tuition funds to students whose families are facing unexpected financial hardships.
Past recipients have received STAR Fund aid when facing unexpected medical bills, the death of a family member, or other crises. When you make a gift to the STAR Fund, you’re directly impacting a family who might otherwise struggle to keep their child at Trinity.
$1,231 raised in STAR Fund gifts in 2022–2023
Thank you for investing wisely to make Trinity’s mission flourish this year and for years to come.

We are passing our Christian, classical, rich, and unhurried mission on to the next generation through three strategic priorities:
• Forming our students’ purpose
• Sustaining our faculty’s calling
• Partnering together for the future
The vision for our new strategic plan for Trinity School is, with God’s good help, to pass the mission and blessings of Trinity along to a new generation of students, parents, faculty, staff, and Board members, so that the school can grow from strength to strength.
Trinity School enters this phase with nearly three decades of God’s blessing and the resources he has given us to steward.
The next few years are hinge years for the school, when we have the opportunity to pass the mission and the leadership along to another generation. Such transitional times present challenges, but also wonderful opportunities.
To see the plan in action and find out how you can make an impact on the next generation, go to Trinity-SP.org.
