Since our last report we have hsa d of the death of two Brothers who passed many years at the Terrace Bro. P. A Con1on, 0 past Principal, died in the Hos:Jital cf St. John of God, Geraldton, and Bro R. Cusack S::lent his last days in one of our Sydney es:ajish:-r1.::nts Both Brothers were well-known and well loved at the Terrace.

The afternoon sun is softened by the provision of adjustable aluminium louvres on the western windows, Above the classrooms are the Science :abor­ aties and their respective storerooms Here again attention wos given first to convenience and then to beauty In no instance was effi­ ciency sacrificed to mere appearance. Th2 net result has been a beautiful and functional set of laboratories that one can well be proud of A Demonstration Theatre is conveniently situ­ ated to both Physics and Chemistry store<oom and Laboratories.

Results in Public Examinations were very encouraging thirty boys sat for the Leaving Certificate There were twenty-one complete passes and six partial passes.

Five of these latter missed a complete pass only because they

Several of our recent Old Boys distinguis::ed ihemselves at their University Studies Nicl'O I ­ os Zorbas won First Class Honours in his degree in Electrical Engineering.

He was 0150 award­ ed the Cable Makers' Association Prize In Electrical Engineering Peter Heagney won the Dental Science Convocation Prize Brian Sadler was av/arded an I.S.A.S. Scholarship on his results in Fourth year Engineering, while Dovid Mattaboni won a £500 Scholarship entitling him to two years' study in Dairy Science at Hawkes­ bury Agricultural College, NSW He is the first student to be awarded this particular scholarship A younger Old Boy at present in England, David Wimbush won a Naval Officers' Trainirlg scholarship.

These Old Boys and all those other5, too numerous to mention, who ore doing 50 well in their study courses deserve our special -.:ongratulations.

Four ot lost year's Terrace students left to enter our Training College in Bundoora, Victoria. Two Old Boys, Rev Bros. B L. Fitz­ gerald, and R. O. White!y, made their Perpetual fJrofession in our Order last Christmas Dey Bra. Fitzgerald is now on the staff of C1ontorf Boys' Town.

Brother Whitely is at Minto, NSW Our Old Boys' Hockey Club hod their Annual General Communion and "Breakfast" at the College on Friday, 11 th September To my p'easure many expressed very forcibly a desire to re-form the general Old Boys' Association A committee was formed on the spot to prepare o constitution for discussion by a general meet­ ing at a later dote This meeting has been held, a constitution accepted, and a committee elected under the presidency of Mr John Dolli­ more who is present with us to-night Our Army Cadets functioned very efficiently under the command of Brothers Drake and Carrigg and likewise the Air Training Corps under Brother T rovers. The Army Cadets per­ formed very creditably in the Challenge Cup Rifle Shooting Competition against Col!eges throughout the State. Corporal Timothy Bai ley gained second highest individual points In his division of the sheot, and fourth highest in the State-wide competition.

John Gorman was awarded an AT.C Flying Scholarship and has since gained his Pilot's LiCEnce.

The Combined Army and AT.C March Out took place en Sunday, 11 th October, p"e3ided over by Major Callander and Squadron Leader Eckert representing the Army and Air Force respectively. The Air Force Cadets carried off the honours in the closely contested Drill and Weapons competition held before a large gather­ ing of parents and friends. Music was provided by the WEstern Command Bond und2r the b:Jton of Warrant Officer James.

Dancing classes this year were conducted by Mr. Sam Gilkison and Miss Kay Gilkison, ably assisted by Mrs Corner. We were very pleased with the results of their efforts and t~le interest they manifested in the boys' progress. We ore indebted also to the Victoria Square Convent of Mercy for its co-operation. Owing to increas­ ing numbers our College Dance was this year held in Anzac House Ballroom.

It was a dignified and happy function.

The Christion Brothers' Combined Eisteddfod • brought its usuol encouraging results.

Our Choirs won first place in the Juvenile section and second place in the Senior division.

We were also second in the Aggregate Choir se~t!on.

Paul Wells and Michael O'Connor won the Op n Duet with John Waddell John Gasiorowski Kevin Fitzpatrick and Ch~is Waddell winning the Open, Under 14, Under 12 and Under 11 vocal solo sections respectively Many of the second and third places were filled by our boys.

In the Elocution division we were not quite as successful as usual but we gained second place in fou r out of the si x age groups My tharl ks and congratulations go to the Brothers and to Mrs Piff for their hard and successful work in this field and to Mrs I<err and Miss Recllichi who accompanied the boys so ably Turning to the realm of Sport our Football teams had a most successful year. Our First XVIII won twelve out of fifteen matches played This year our team entered the Christ­ ian Brothers' Secondary Schools' Competition and went on to be undefeated Premiers. The Under 16 Team played with remarkable spirit in the East Perth-West Perth combined com­ petiticn. They lost only one match of nineteen played John Anderton was winner of the Alan Edwards Medal for fairest and best in the Grand Final.

Our Under 14 Team finished co-Premiers with CBe Fremantle. One very pleasing feature throughout the season was the excellent team spirit shown by the boys.

We are at a disadvantage in our Senior Cricket because of the difficulty of arranging games Since the re-organizing of the Public Schools' cricket programme it has been difficult to arrange fixtures convenient to them and to us. We are hopeful of regular competition next year I would like to thank Mr Jack Shec for his coaching of younger boys on Sun~ay mornings Our Tennis Team was second to CBe Fre­ mant[e in the Annual Combined Tournament.

We came first in the Under 15 division where Michael Edg'ey distinguished himself and also in the Under 13 section where Alan D'Orsogna was undefeated Alan later became Under 13 State Champion Over sixty boys represented the College in Saturday Morning Hockey Competition.

Of the five teams nominated to play three finished in the final four of their respective divisicns.

We thank Mr K DeCourtenay and Mr 1< Carton, both Olympic Games players and Old Boys for their valuable coaching assistance dur­ ing the year.

Though here I have reported only on some of the Senior sportinq results it must be realised that every boy in the schaol takes part in sport.

In the combined swimming camival, though our boys performed very creditably, we fuund Christian Brothers, Highgate, too good for us.

However, Peter Kidman was outstanding in the open division:; of both our own carnival and the Combined Carnival Cur othletes had a V2,y successful day in bringing home four of the six trophies competed for in the Combined Athletics meeting.

Two boys are to be congratulated as State Champ­ icns. James Farrell (Jnd Kevin Ho,gan are State title holders in the S~hoolboys' Ooen Gnd Under 17 High Jumps.

To the parents of the toys I express my thanks for their very reell co-operation and sup­ port during my years 0\' the Terrace If th9re is any thought I would particularly like to leave with them it is this - the tremendous influen:::e fer good a happy and loving home has in the upbringing of the chi Id The answers to prob­ lems of child delinquency a'e to a very great extent found in the harmony of a happy e,ome working in con' unction with a happy schJol. The boys' own co-operation is, of course, an essential too, but this is wrely missing in the circumstances menticned acove.

I om very grateful to the ladies who have contributed so generously of their time to Tuck­ shop duties and ta the caterin,j connected with the many functions held durinq the year Over the years I have been at the Terrace I hove marvelled at the harmony existing among these ladies. This harmcnv comes from th2ir own good will, their interest in the College and their preparedness to fece hard work.

It comes in no sm:J1I way fr0:11 their confidence in the President, Mrs. Lalor, and in the Secretory, Mrs Row~ Thanks to the parents in general, also, for their help an special occasions when tr.ey hav enal:Jled me to bce formidable tasks with confidence.

I thank my staff for their whole-hearted understanding and co-operation. The Brothers have worked tirelessly for the good of the boys.

I hove had every co-operation and assistance from the lay teaching staff - from Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Tebneff, Mrs. O'Connor and Mrs. Rose, and from Messrs, Kelly, Hickey and Beverley I thank them 011.

REV. FR. BERT AODERLEY, B.A. (Hons.), Oip.Ed., Ph.O. Bert is the son of Mr. ond Mrs. B. Adderley, of Broome Street, Cottesloe, He was educated at the Terrace from 1933 to 1939, when he gained seventh place in the State in the Leaving Certificate examinations.

After taking degrees in Arts (hcncurs) and Education at the University cf W.A., Bert studied Phil~s:Jphy at the University of Washington, completing his Doct:::rate in J 953.

Before leaving to study for the priesth:Jod at Beda C:Jllege, Rome, Bert taught successively at Scotch College, St. Louis School, and Aquinas College.

His Ordinati:::n took place in Rome on March 14th this year.

On his return from overseas, Fr. Adderley graciously re-visited his Alma Mater, and celebrated Mass in the College Chapel.

Later in the day, he addressed the school assembly, and impart d his bless­ ing to Brothers and boys.

Fr. Adderley is nClW exercising his ministry in the Diocese of Bunbury.

We cffer him our prayers and best wishes fu a successful apostalate, REV. BR. R. O. WHITELY. Br. Whitely, s:::n of Mr. and Mrs. B. Whitely, of Laftus Street, Claremant, first attended C B.C as a member of St. Mary's Cathedral Choir in 1942, and remained at the Terrace for seven years.

During his years of training at Mount St. Mary, Strathfield, Reg was often called upon to make use of his talents as an accomplished singer, far the benefit of his fellow students.

Since the completion of his training, Br. Whitely has been engaged in household and farming duties at Minto and Strathfield, New South Wales.

He took Final Vows as a Christian Brother on Christmas Day, 1958, at Mount St. Mary, Strathfield. Reg. is a brother of Fr. Barry Whitely, Victoria Park, and of Lyn, who is studying with the Calumban Fathers in Sydney.

Younger brother, Michael, is one of the leading lights in First Year at the Terrace.

He attended CB.C from 1942 to 1947, entering the Training College at Strathfield in January, 1948.

Br. Fitzgerald has since taught at the Brothers' Schools in Geelong, Fremantle and Leederville; he is at present stationed at C10ntarf Boys' Town, where his practical knowledge of the building trade (he has a Registered Builders' Certificate) is invaluable.

Next year Br. Fitzgerald hopes to complete his studies and practical work for a Diploma of Building degree.

We wish him every success in his work.

REV. BR. P. A. CONLON. Brother Conlon who died in SI. John of G::Jd Hospital, Geraldton, lost December, come to Australia frem Ireland over sixty years ago.

He was Principal of the Terrace from 1928-1932, and later resided here while teaching at St. Charles' Seminary, Guildferd.

He was the founder of the Christian Brothers' Agricultural College. Tardun, and mode several trips to England to bring child migrants t Aus­ tralia.

For some years he was 0 member of the Pr::vinciol Council of the Christian Brothers in Australia.

Much 01 the credit for the compre­ hensive programme of work 01 the Society in the school was due to the President, Philip Hosemann, and to the other mem­ bers of the executive os well os to the com­ mittees which were responsible for organis­ ing the various functions.

Army Cadet Un it Among the many facilities for self-improvement enjoyed by the boys at C. B.C., not the least beneficial is the College Cadet Corps. The aim af Cadet training is n:lt only to give the members af the Corps 0 foundation of military knowledge and discipline and to develop them mentally and physically but also to provide on opportunity for the development af self-confidence, self-respect, the acceptance of responsibility and the ability to control themselves and others.

It also aims to foster a sense of citizenship and patriotism.

Although no oath of allegiance is token, 0 Catholic Cadet is expected to worship God by the regular practice of his Faith, to serve, well and truly, eur Sovereign Lady the Queen in the Cadet Corps, to discharge his duties faithfully, to act always in a manner becoming a gentle­ man, and to avoid at all times actions which may bring disgrace and dishonour on his parents, his school or his Unit.

The training programme mopped out for the Cadets differed little from that of previous years.

Under the capable leadership of C.U.O. P. Jacoby, the Under Officers and N.C.O's. carried out their duties efficiently and w"lI.

ANZAC DAY PARADE. On the 24th of April Col. J. E. Barrett again addressed the Cadets on the Spirit of Anzac. An impressive Flag Ceremony was conducted en the College Oval in the pre­ sence of the entire school.

The blessing and laying of the Wreath, the Lost Pest and Reveille, and the slow raising of the Flag frem half-most left all who witnessed this simple but teuching ceremOny wi th a feeling of a duty still to be d::ne for the s::uls of those who hove given therr lives in defence of their country and their friends.

ANNUAL CAMP. Northam again was the lecation for the annual camp.

The weather was perfect.

During the camp the Unit took Dart in 0 ceremonial March-Post on the occasion of a visit from Col. Farrest.

We distinguished eurselves by our

marching and performed creditably during the specialists' competitions.

Cadet Pollard again secured second place in the Reveille race.

Fr. O'Shea was our Chaplain during the we k and we were pleased to see him both on Our field exercises and en his many visits to the Lines. All agreed that it was 0 wonderful week thanks mainly to the keen interest shown by the Camp Commandant, Major Callander and the Unit's instructor, W.O. P. McGrellis.

CHALLENGE ROUND. Our ri fie team had notable success this year, taking secend place in the "B" Division and thus securing for the Unit promotion to "A" Divisien.

This honeur was ebtained for uS by C.U.O's. P. Jaccby, e. Grant, A. Mlrmi­ kidis, Cpl. T. Bailey, LICpl. Hinds, Cdt. B. Francais, ana LICpl. T. Grocke.

It is to be haped that next year's team will maintain this coverted position.

MARCH - OUT PARADE. The Annual Passing Out Parade was held on Cctaber 11th at the College Oval.

We were privileged t') have present Maj. Callander, M.B.E., Staff Officer of Cadets, who inspected the Cadets and took the solute at the March-Post.

In his address to the Unit he praised its members for their "bearing and steadiness en parade."

The high standard of drill execution and the efficient carrying out of the parade was due, in the main, to the tireless efforts of W.O. McGrellis.

During the year we obtained valuable help from A. T.e.

Headquarters and our thanks ore due to Ft. /Sgt. Perrett, Cpl. Hicks and Cpl. Smith.

However, much of the in­ struction work was carried out by the CU.O's. and N.C.O's., who ore to be cangratulat d en the fine werk that they did, particularly C.U.O's. Fisher and Hosemann.

The Annual Camp was held at Pearce in the M'JY holi­ days, but because of accommodation problems only about forty Cadets ceuld attend.

However, apart frem this the Camp was highly successful.

The Pearce authorities were very co-operative and the Cadets were shown everything about the station that could be of interest to them. Thev sow quite 0 let of the Advanced Flying School in oper­ ation.

We also held 0 week-end camp this year in ADril.

During the period the Cadets did S'Jme interesting werk in bushcraft and spent several hours on the Range.

Other highlights of the year were 0 visit to the aircraft carriers, "H.M.A.S. Melbourne" and "H.M.S. Albian," when they were in Fremantle in March ,and 0 visit to Perth Airport.

This was the first year in which one of our members was actually able to fly 0 plane. CU.O. John German obtained 0 Flying Scholarship lost year and during the year hod quite 0 number of hours in the air.

He is to be congratulated On successfully completing the course.

At the Marching Out Parade the Inter-Service Drill C:lI1­ tEst was wen by the A. T.C. squad under the command of C.U.O. L. Fisher. We wish to congratulate them on their effert, os also the Weapons Relay team and L.A.e. R. Taylor who gave 0 fine display with his medel aircraft.

SWIMMING The College Swimming Cornivol VlOS held ot Crawlev Baths on the morning of March 4th.

Another Inter-School Meeting was held with Aquinas College and Kent Street High on October 17th.

Peter MeMo hen did best for uS on this eccasion, winning the Under 16 100 Yards in 10.9 secs., and the 220 Yards in 24.3 secs.

Another notable performance was that of feurteen-year-old Terry Flynn who finished 3rd in the Under 17 Mile; his time was 4 mins. 56 secs.

This season proved to be the most successful a Terrace 1st XVIII has had for many years Pla\,ing in the Christian Brothers' Secondary Schools' Competition for the first time, we finished undefeated Premiers.

In matches apart from those of the competiticn we gained victories against Hole (by 23 pcints), New Norcio (by 42 points and 4 points), and the Old Boys, but lost to Aquinos (by 29 points), St. Lcuis (by 15 paints), and the Broth rs.

The team thorough Iy deserved its success both cn cc­ count of the determination displayed on the field and the ccnsistent effort mode at training.

At all times the captain, Gecrge Osborne, set a fine example to the team; in this he received strong support from Vice-Captain, Phil Moslen.

In olmest 011 matches we had the advantage of asc ndancy in the ruck; mcst credit far this must go t:J Jim Farrell, Pat Gianancelli and John Sheridon. ,A. very reliable defence proved another valu:Jble asset; both Jch,., Rcgers, centre half-back, and Branka Banavich, full-back, played extremely well.

Others whose consistently gaed performances merit special mention are wingers Fred I<omadina and Lindsay O'Rourke; rover, P ter Bronchi; centre-man, Don Lee; centre half-forward, Chris Grant; and Cliff Byrne, full-forward, wh:J kicked 4] gaols.

The Fairest and Best Award was won by John Rogers wi th Fred Komadina runner-up.

UNDER 16 EIGHTEEN. The seasen proved to be a highly successful one for the Terrace in the Under 16 District Competition.

The team WCn 011 sixteen matches in the minor rcund, lost the semi-final, but recovered well to win the preliminary final against Mt. Hawthern.

Many enthusiastic supp:Jrters were of no little assistance to the b:Jys On Grand Final day, when a tiring and hard-fought match resulted in a well­ deserved win for the Terrace.

Ray Harrold proved a capable and inspi ring captain.

He WQS ably assisted by Max Hyde whose determination served as a lesson to all players. John Andertan, runner­ up far the Chesson Medal, was our most outstanding play­ er, and deserves much credi t for his performances.

In the :;rand Final a sterling exhibition of determined ruck work earned for John the Alan Edwards Medal, presented to the Best and Fairest player in the game.

Others to impress were Chris Lalar, Roly Bott, Leon Dusci, Les Valmadre, Jchn Burrell, and Errol SporeI'.

The team was ably lead by Malcalm Dwyer, who was the outstanding player of the season.

William Tulley showed promise at full-forward.

Radney Gamble was easily the mast improved player, playing v ry effective­ ly in the back packet.

Fr d Miller and Jerry Haaper were the stars of the sea­ son, closely followed by Rabert Shields (C) Other reliable players were Michael Petkavich, Geaff serjeant, Robert Daniel, Michael Knight, Jaseph sadawski and Michael Elphick. Michael Riddler, Brian Sradley, Rass Kelly and Paul Risinger showed promise f r the future.

All our games were played in a good spirit, and we always finished strongly.

UNDER 11 EIGHTEEN. Matches were played agaimt St. Louis, Fremantle, High­ gate, Leederville and subiaco.

Thirty-five boys play­ ed in at least one match during the season, with S. Mc Dowell and D. Pinder the stars. C Tomasi, J. Ferguson, G. Fitzgerald and N. Hawtin played consistently well. The most pleasing feature of the season was the tremendou enthusiasm of all ot training.

HOCI(EY Five toms represented the College in the "Saturday Morning Competition" conducted by the Western Aus­ tralian Hockey Assaciotion, and it is with gratitude that we acknowledge our indebtedness to the W."\.H.A. for its co - operation with the Schoolboys' Hockey Committee in supplying grounds and umpires.

As the season progressed we olmost took for granted the marked grounds, the umpires ond the white ball without consider­ ing the rganization and time that went into making those Saturday mornings so pleasant and exciting, not only for us but olso for the otn r 600 boys who took port in the Saturday Morning Competition. To the members of the various clubs who gave up their Soturdoy mornings to umpire these matches go our whale-hearted thanks.

"A" GRADE. In the "A" Grade we fielded one team which due to superior opposition WOn only one game during the season.

The team played consist ntly well but locked the weight necessary for the hard hitting that characterized most of the opposing teams. Anthony Eyles and John Dwyer proved a useful ccmbination as full-backs and gave good support to the forward line.

Kerry Burvill and Barry Giles on the wing, with Srian Rocke as centre forward, provided the spearhead of the attack.

Perhaps the most improved player was P ter Temby who, playing hockey for the first time, achieved remarkable success as left half-b:JCk. Good work, Peter it just shows what practice will do. Richard Ridge, Kevin Williams, Errol Jobsz, Phillip Fitzhardinge cnd Robert D'Olimpio occupied their positions in the t am with credit. The team is to be complimented On its fine pirit of determination in the face of unfavourable cir­ cum tances.

"B" GRADE. Under the captaincy of Tim Delan y and B rnard Egerton-Green the two "S" Grade teams enjoyed a very successful season, finishing fourth in each division.

Team work and stick play had improved considerably since last seaSOn and under the guidance and coaching of Kevin Carton, to whom all are deeply indebted, a high standard of hockey was attained, although there were occasicnal lapses into old faults.

We were all anxious to learn the skills and moves of the game and an even mare successful season seems likely for next year.

Davld Anderson, Colin Cook, Robert Sloffwitch, Joseph L1orens, John Harvey, John Allanson, Robert Meade and the two Terry Smiths deserve praise for consistently good play. "e" GRADE. Again, with S:J many ager to represent the school in organized sporting activities, it was found necessary to field two teams from the First Year Classes. Despite the fact th:Jt this was the first time many of us had ever held a hockey stick, we soon learn d the basic skills and stop­ ping, flicking and bullying became by-words as the team settled down to hard, serious practice.

We found the stick hard to manage at first awkward and somewhat of a nuisance but after five or six weeks we became used to it and could master the little skills necessary tJ beat an opponent.

Then we really began to enjoy the game.

Ivan lIich and Paul Fisher inspired their teams with enthusiasm and led them to many hard-earned victories.

Paul Wells and Michael Jervis were outstanding in their wing positions, while Pat McDanald as half-back and Ion Lewis, Terry Mclntyre and Robert Gorddard as fuli-backs showed promising tolent.

Our two gaali s, Pat van Raoyen and Leonard Sell, deserve credit for their spec­ tacular performances in gcals. Honourable mention must ols be made of Peter Atkinson, Vaughan Heenan, Arthur Kalmund, Kieran and Nicholas Woods, Barry Lawson, Allan Callaghan, Phillip Waodhouse, John Geargiades and Sylvester Cypelt.

Again this year we found it most difficult to obtain fixtures; this was 0 great pity os our team displayed notable keenness.

In the four matches played the stand­ ard of both bewling and fielding was very pleasing; batting was good at times.

George Osbarne and Pot Gianancelli led the bowling attack while, in the field, Phil Moslen, with some very fine catches, and Peter Bronchi proved c utstanding.

Five matches were played during the season, and of these C. B.C. won three.

The team was efficiently cap­ tained by Ray Harrold, whose brilliant fielding and sound batting contributed largely to the keen spirit shown by the boys, particularly in the field.

John Anderton (highest

scare, 46 not out), proved the mast successful batsman, while others to score well were Kevin Sole, Raly Bott and Michael Dads.

The latter two bowled with notable success, each having the ability to turn the ball quite censlderably in the air.

CRICKET.

Three matches were played during the season.

The team was defeated by C.B.H.S. Highgate and St. Louis and drew with Aquinas.

On the whale, our batting was very weak, though Michael O'Cannor, Paul Fisher and Malcolm Dwyer played 0 few fine innings.

The standard of field­ ing was generally very high, Brian Barber, Paul Fisher, Radney Gamble and Malcalm Dwyer being among the most reliable, Garden Kendall and Warren Jones were the mast successful of the bowlers.

In the short time the team was together, it played matches against Subiaca and Highgate.

D. Pinder was outstanding os botsman and bowler.

He was well sup­ ported in the bowling by B. McDawel1 and G. Fitzgerald, while C. Tamasi, J. Risinger and G. Fitzgerald did quite well with the bot.

B. McDawell, G. Fitzgerald, C. Tamasi and D. Pinder were the mast brilliant at fielding, in which section of the game the team improved considerably dur­ ing the short season.

In the Inter-School Tennis Competition we were ogoin second to Fremantle, The team performed creditably, especially the Under 15s, who won their section of the Competition, and the Under 13's. where Alan D'Orsogna was un­ defeated,

We were unfortunate in the fact that the Open Champion, John Bev8rley, had to with­ draw from the Competition, His performance in the Slazenger Cup Competition against John Curtin High School was a very creditable une.

Former Hockey Club President, Greg Brophy, entered the Jesuit Order in 1950 shortly after completing his Bachelor of Engineering Degree at the University of W.A. His years of study will culminate in his ordination at SI. Mary's Cathedral On 9th January next the first Jesuit ordination in this State. Greg's lest year at the Terrace was 1937.

Greg's younger brother, Jock, IS WI th the C.S.I. R.O. at Crawky in on administrative capacity.

Living in the some area is Tom Perratt whose main interests now ore managing the point contracting firm of D. C. Perrott and Son, and assisting in the management of five lively chi Idren.

Mourie McGovern, President of the Hockey Club, is on EnQineer in the P.M.G. Civil Engineer, Ron Firns, works with the Department of Civil Aviation and was lost heard of at Port Moresby.

Other Old Boys in the some area are Mourie Faley whom we expect to see back in Perth in late 1960, and Peter Gas:Jn. Jock Sheo again this year devoted many hours on Sun­ day mornings to coaching 0 group of promising Terrace cricketers.

Architect Gene Mapp has been gaining valuable ex­ perience in South Africa, but, according to reports, the call of the West is too strong, and he is expected home before Christmas. Gene mode 0 name for himself os left half-back in the "A 1" Grade Hockey Teom 0 few years ago and C. B.C. followers are looking forward to his re-aopearance with keen anticipation.

The recent Legal Convention brought to Perth two dis­ tinguished Old Boys, Justice Dunphy of the Commonwealth Arbitration Court, and Justice de Ba un of the NSW. Judiciary.

The latter paid 0 visit to his old Alma Mater and was pleased to see evidence of the development that has token place.

Mick Cleaver, B.A., B.Sc., lectures at Port Pirie Technical College in Chemistry and Economics; his small son also claims 0 good deal of his attention.

John Goadman and Bill O'Grady, despite advancing years, are still well to the fore in the athletics field.

Frank Dads engages in clerical work at the Police Traffic Branch and finds time to perform creditably on the cricket field.

Colonel J. E. Barrett, on Old Boy of the early 20's, takes o keen interest in the College Cadet Unit; earlier in the year he distributed Badges of Rank to Under-Officers and N.C.O's. and later was present at the Unit's Anzac Day Ceremony.

Another Old Boy of the some period, Mr. G. W. Mackey, Senior Meteorologist at the State Weather Bureau, gave valuable advice when 0 Stevensan Screen was set up at the College fC'r the benefi t of Geography students.

ATTENDANCE. Parents ore requested to see that their boys attend school regularly and punctually and that facilities are afforded them to pursue their studies at home. School work commences doily at 8.45 a.m. and terminates for the Juniors. at 3.30 p.m The Senior Classes terminate at 4 p.m. There is a recess for luncheon from 12.30 pm. to 1 15 p.m.
