House Mentor Group is the first class of each day and takes 15 minutes. This is important as it is a time for students to meet with their House Mentor who will take attendance, check uniforms and read the daily notices It is also an opportunity for students to build positive relationships and develop teamwork skills as students are involved in a range of activities that not only build connections but activate the brain so students are ‘learning ready’.

Learning

At Trinity, we look carefully at the transition process for students as they move from primary to secondary education We are conscious of providing a positive experience that encourages each individual to discover their own learning style. We want our students to experience a range of subjects so they can see what they are good at, identify their areas for growth, and develop interests they are passionate about.

Core subjects in Year 7 are:

English

Maths

Science

History

Geography

Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE)

Music

Visual Arts

LOTE

Religious and Values Education (RAVE)

We want our Year 7 students to build their research and time management skills, study strategies and work collaboratively and independently, as this skill set is important right throughout the Senior School.

Homework

We focus on study techniques in Term 1. Homework is introduced in Term 2 with students taught how to create a study/homework timetable

What should I do if my child has difficulty with a subject?

Enrichment, Extension & Learning Support

Students from Kindergarten to Year 12 are encouraged and challenged to aim for their personal best in all they do To address this outcome in their academic studies, students are supported by teachers through engaging in growthfocused teaching and learning programs, which are informed by quality research

In our Senior School, every student has the opportunity to access various forms of support for their learning. Some students, based upon identified needs and/or their pathway through the College, will also access other provisions available through Extension and Enrichment, VET (Vocational Education & Training) programs and Learning Support through the Tutorial Centre.

In this manner, the personalisation of student learning in every classroom and subject is key to ensuring students at Trinity are building skills and understandings for a bright future.

The aim of the Learning Support Team is to improve educational outcomes for all students

In the Senior School, the team provides in class support in core and specialist lessons as well as opportunities for students to work in small groups or individually with learning support teachers.

Booklists, stationery & BYOD

Books

We use an Australian company, Box of Books, to support our learning programs for the school year. Our students have access to enhanced texts and publisher resources through the simple-to-use online platforms.

2025 Booklist

Specific details will be sent to families directly with our 2025 booklist during Term 4 2024. Using the Box of Books online store, families can easily order and arrange payment and delivery of both the physical and digital resources.

Stationery

A full stationery list will be provided during Term 4 2024.

BYOD

We operate a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program in the Senior School. This means all families of students in Years 7-12 purchase their own laptop to use as a learning tool and for use everyday. We provide all the software required for learning, which includes access to subject specific online tools.

While at the College, student laptops connect to our wireless network to allow access to online resources needed for learning This network uses firewalls and safety mechanisms to ensure students are safely accessing the internet.

Lockers

All students are allocated a locker to secure their possessions, especially valuable items (phone, wallet, etc) All personal items should be clearly labelled with their name.

Your child’s locker is their responsibility It is important they are organised and develop good habits early. Students must always have their lock on their locker and should never tell anyone their lock combination

Mobile Phones

We recognise that, on occasion, mobile phones may be useful / necessary for students to bring to school for safety or communication reasons.

We encourage responsible use of mobile phones:

All phones are to be locked away in student lockers during the day

Students are not permitted to use mobile phones during school time, unless permission is given by a teacher

Parents are requested to only contact their child via mobile telephone at the conclusion of the school day At any other time in case of emergency, parents may telephone the Front Office on 02 6049 3400.
