Trinity Lutheran College

2023 - 2026 | STRATEGY

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.
Proverbs 16:3, 9 10:18
To be a Christ centred community nurturing and empowering every learner to serve our world.
“No other foundation, ... Jesus Christ.”
-1 Corinthians 3:11
To be a globally connected and innovative learning community growing together through heart, head and hand.
I am pleased to present you with the Trinity Lutheran College 2023 to 2026 Strategy. This 4-year strategy is stage two of a 15-year long view of our educational offering which casts what the world of life and work will look like for our current Junior Kindy students (2.5 to 3 years old) when they reach Year 12 in 2034. Our 2023-2026 Strategy follows the 2020 to 2022 strategy which was set before the pandemic outbreak in early 2020.
The college has delivered all the master plan projects, except for the College Administration building, that was/were outlined in the 2020-2022 strategy. Our 10-year master building plan has been updated to reflect the emerging economic context post pandemic. The college is dedicated to creating an environment conducive to 21st century teaching and learning while encouraging our future innovators and entrepreneurs to forge a new landscape for life and the world.
I commend the second of the five stages of our strategy, to deliver a globally connected future focused education where each member of the college is nurtured and empowered to be the best they can be.
By community, we mean that we:
-Engage with our on campus church
-Value all members and build alliances
- Inspire participation in college life
By respect, we mean that we:
- Accept differences and embrace diversity
- Interact positively with others
-Demonstrate regard for our environment and facilities
By service, we mean that we:
-Respond to the needs of others
- Make a difference to others
- Value the contributions of those who serve
By growth, we mean that we:
- Aspire to continually improve
-Honour achievement
-Strive for personal best
STRATEGIC THEME(S):
As a result of the research findings of the scenario planning process, we anticipate that Trinity will be a very different college in 2034. To meet the challenges of an ever-changing world, we will deliver an innovative and contemporary teaching and learning practice that is Christ-centred.
We focus on the head, heart and hand to nurture well-being of our staff and students to serve the community effectively. Our students will grow to become infinite (i.e. life-long and life-wide) and resilient learners.
The strategic vision and goals are achieved through the ongoing review and enhancement of these three enablers:
COMMUNICATION: To refine both internal and external stakeholder communication
DATA WISE: To maintain a meaningful data informed practice and culture
STEWARDSHIP: To prudently manage all resources (human, physical, financial and environmental)
In 2018, the college scenario planning project team completed comprehensive desk research and interviewed experts in fields including education, environment, economics, legal, politics, religions, society and technology in preparation for our strategy formation.
We focused on how the trends in the above fields would help us to envisage what our world will look like in 2034. With the scenarios of 2034 firmly framed in our minds, we endeavour to develop the strategic themes to help us prepare our students for their life and work for 2034. We are excited to share this future focused, value-added and individual focused approach to educate our students to create a future for themselves.
Such an education offering will be one that carves out a path that has not yet been paved. The future is an exciting and enriching one for our staff and students.
• To establish a shared vision, culture and practice which supports and enables well-being amongst staff and students
• To provide continual resourcing for the implementation of effective well-being practices
• To invest in the development and support of staff
“Well-being in schools affects nearly everyone from staff and students to parents and community leaders. Here at Trinity we are “Strong Together”. Like the strands of a rope, individually we are easily broken but when bound together we are almost unbreakable. Overall well-being enhances the growth of every student academically, socially and physically. Caring for those around us provides the platform of a safe and supportive school.”
-Byron Cullen, Year 8, 2023 Middle Years Vice Captain• To ensure the delivery of innovative and contemporary teaching and learning programs that are best practice
• To instil lifelong habits of learning in our students
• To embrace educational technological advances to improve student outcomes
“To study and attend lessons in the Senior Learning Precinct has been the highlight of my time at the college. Offering a wide variety of study areas, the SLP fulfils the varying needs of all students. The precinct boasts expansive open study areas which foster collaboration, whilst also granting students the option to work in solitude if they wish to avoid distraction. This flexibility has been central towards developing effective study habits during my years as a college senior.”
• To develop respectful, connected and service-oriented citizens who embrace diversity in our local, national and international communities
• To develop respectful, connected and service-minded citizens who care for our natural world
“Having an understanding, respect and appreciation for other countries and cultures creates connection between people all around the world. With this connection, we have the ability to explore ideas, solve world issues and embrace friendship. Learning to become internationally minded through our units of inquiry is a fun and rewarding experience.”
