UNITED: BUILDING STRONG COMMUNITIES The Case for Partnering with Trident United Way

CONNECTING THE COMMUNITY “It’s like winning the lottery.” That’s what one client said who described the Connect and Collect Community Fair at the Trident United Way Resource Connection Center in Moncks Corner. More than 500 people came to downtown Moncks Corner to meet with 20 local service providers in one central location for resources on education, financial stability and health. Partnering with The Lowcountry Foodbank, people got to choose from nearly 10,000 pounds of fresh fruits, vegetables and frozen meats. Volunteers from Berkeley Electric Co-op and Santee Cooper helped unpack and give out food to very grateful attendees. For some like Moncks Corner resident Johnnie Mae, it provides a lifeline. “This saved me a trip to the grocery store, this is more helpful than you’ll ever know,” Johnnie Mae said. “I just want to thank you for doing this. It makes such a difference to me! I learned so much about what you have here at this office and I am going to come back! Thank you, thank you.” Events like these are just a few of the ways Trident United Way, partners and volunteers provide direct benefit to people across the Tri-County.

SINCE 1944 For 75 years, Trident United Way has served the Tri-County region by continually reimagining how to best serve our citizens, maintaining our relevance - as new eras bring new challenges - by partnering with generations of donors and hundreds of organizations. However, we have never reimagined the expectations and aspirations of our founders. Their goal to serve the public good has guided us for more than seven decades – and they guide us to this day.
