Showcasing fresh ideas from the creative young minds of New Westminster students
Some of our most creative young minds helped New West Record advertisers design their most memorable ad ever!
The New West Record, in conjunction with School District 40, arepleased to present this special section with ads created for local businesses by New Westminsterstudents.
Creativity &Children -Agreat mix
That’s oneofthe reasonsour annual Design an Ad special supplement continues to be popular in New Westminster.
The New WestminsterRecord, local businesses and organizations, and the New Westminsterschool district, team up and ask city studentsto design newspaperads for the special section.
Every year, the students produceinsightful, creative, thoughtful– and often humorous –advertisements that highlight the strengths of their subjects and often carry compelling messages.
The businesses and groups get to choose which students’ advertisement they want to run in the section. Unfortunately, this year due to COVID-19, our photographercouldn’tvisit the schools so the teachers graciously sent someintousinstead! The ads and photos of studentsare put together by our team at the New Westminster Record and another DesignanAd section is complete
Iwould like to thankall of the students, teachers and participating advertisers who continue to make this annual project a real success!

Creativity at play.Inspiring futures.
Creativity is such an important part of learning …it’sabout how we express ourselves as individuals and how we showcase our views of the world around us. That’swhy our school district is so excited to participate in this annual event, Design an Ad.
This partnership with the community and our local paper is agreat example of how we can work together, for the benefit of all. And it’s something we know our students get very excited about each year.
So to our students: whether you’re aspiring marketers or budding young artists, future advertising strategists or destined to be hobby crafters, Iwant to applaud the work you’ve shared this year. And Ihope you’ll always strive to hold onto the creativity and passion reflected in it.
To the readers (including those proud parents) and the wider community: Ihope you enjoy the work our talented students have created.
