COMPETITION RULES Gilberdyke Phoenix FC Competition Rules (2022).

The age qualification is that which applied to the 2021-2022 season.

Winners and runners-up will each receive a memento, and a team cup or plate for the winners.

All group matches will be 5 minutes each way, with the ‘home’ team (listed first) kicking off.

Group positions will be determined in the following order: Points (3 for a win, 1 for a draw) Goal difference Goals scored Result of matches between teams Teams that are tied on the above criteria will result in a Penalty competition, as explained below. If a team is unable to satisfy a fixture, a 1-0 win and 3 points will be awarded to the opposing team.

Knock-Out stages are to be 10 minutes one way except for the final which will be 8 minutes each way.

In the event of scores being level after normal time in the Knock-Out stages a maximum of a further 3 minutes each way will be played in which a ‘golden goal’ will win the game. If the scores remain level, then the game will be decided by a penalty competition in the following way.

All penalty competitions in the tournament will comprise of a minimum of 5 penalties per side, taken by 5 different members of the team on the pitch at the end of the match, followed, if necessary, by sudden death penalties taken by other members of the teams (including substitutes).

After the group games, the top two teams from each group will qualify for the cup competition, the bottom two teams will qualify for the plate competition in a knock-out format.

U8'S Reds 21/22 Thoroughly enjoyable season for all the team & parents alike. The lads really improved throughout the season with some truly memorable games. Connor & Arthur shared goalkeeping duties & both were brilliant picking up Man of the matches for keeping us in the closer games, our defence duo of TJ & Theo took it in turns to keep the opposing teams at bay & have both improved a great deal after their 1st full season. William had another great season & showed he can play most position's, Freddie Allen mostly played striker, he gets in space very well & had a great season, Freddie Welford is another player that is versatile & plays left, right or up front, scored some important goals this season, Franky Lightowler's improvement has been amazing, he is fondly known as free kick Franky by his teammates as most of his free kicks end up in the back of the net, brilliant season with loads of goals for the team. Oakley Deakins has also had a great season & is our top scorer,a natural talent that will only improve with age.

Like the goalkeepers all players have had the man of the match awarded to them & we also picked up a trophy as cup competition winners.

Brilliant season, looking forward to the next one where we welcome Reuben & Grayson to our Squad.

Stu and Andy are the very proud coaches of the Gilberdyke Phoenix U15 whites. In the 20/21 season we won the U14 spring shield cup and also gained promotion to the Selby league division 1. This season we finished 4th in the very competitive Division 1, only missing out on back to back promotions by 1 point! We finished the latest season with a record of P18, W12 and L6 which included a fantastic 6 clean sheets.

With a squad of 18 which we are lucky enough to have an incredibly talented group of lads who are an absolute joy to coach. With all the talent in this squad we are looking to go and win the U16’s division 1 title in the upcoming season. We are both committed to helping the lads on their journeys into men's football too. Working closely with Sean, Scott and Dempsey from the seniors coaching staff. Both myself and Andy know that these lads are fully capable because of the work they put in in the training and in matches.

We would like to say a big thanks to Yvonne for the smooth running of the team which allows myself and Andy to concentrate on the coaching.

U15’s “New team new ambitions”, As the start of the 22/23 season approaches fast the clubs U15’s are a newly created team that have drawn upon past and present experienced talent players which several players have already played at a higher age group for many years.

This will give the team a strong foundation to build towards in preparation for the new season.

The U15’s are now looking at recruiting new talent to showcase their skills for the team within the Selby League.

The seniors this year appeared in their fist cup final since the 05/06 season and have had several successful seasons including a divisional title. This team of lads started together at only 9 years old in the HDYFL U10. The boys won’t mind me saying that starting out at they weren’t all the most able of players, some came for the social side and that worked for us. We didn’t win every game but they all played with a smile on their faces. This attitude led them to be real team players and they bonded to be the team mates they are today! And what a team they are! The mindset and growing maturity of these lads never ceases to amaze us. This season alone they have gone unbeaten in their league to be crowned champions and made it to the semi finals of the Jubilee cup.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of these boys for their consistent effort they put in at every training session and every game, without each individual one of them they wouldn’t be where they are now!

Also big shout to the team coaches who spend every second of their spare time planning sessions and talking tactics Sean Neal, Dempsey Walsh and Adam Holloway!

Firstly let me welcome you all to our tournament here at Gilberdyke Phoenix football club. As a newly appointed chairman I am very proud of where the club is right now. We have superb facilities that allow boys and girls to come down to Ings view,Group social, Walks play Solo & Small football and enjoy being part of our football family.

PuppythePop-ins What we have at this club is an amazing group of players right through age groups that work extremely hard every week in training and in matches.

What we also here Cat & Small Pethave Visits at Gilberdyke Phoenix are fantastic coaches, parents and committee members who give up their time and volunteer to help make this club work.

Myself and the rest of the committee members are constantly working behind the scenes to try and develop and drive the club forward. We are now using social media to create a buzz around the club and are looking at more social events in the future to utilise our recently extended clubhouse area. This will hopefully bring new people to the club and new players into teams from academy right through to open age. I see a really bright future for this already brilliant club.

In order to ensure that all participants enjoy their day we would ask that respect is shown to, and by all those taking part and supporting the teams.

The ‘Respect’ barriers are in place to allow the players and their coaches the opportunity to do what they enjoy most – play football.

Managers’ Meeting at the Score Tent Morning: 9.15am Afternoon: 1.45pm Polite Reminders …. Please ensure all children are aware that they are to stay off the cricket square. The area is clearly marked. No dogs are allowed in the playing area, except guide dogs.
