Site Intervention

FOR THIS PROJECT I HAD TO DESIGN AND CONSTRUCT, AS A MEMBER OF A TEAM FOR A SITE-SPECIFIC INTERVENTION ON THE TJU EAST FALLS CAMPUS. MY GROUP AND I CHOSE THIS SITE MAINLY BECAUSE OF THE LARGE OPEN BARE SPOT IN THE FRONT OF THE BUSH. THE SPACE WAS AN EYE SORE AS DEAD LIMBS HUNG. WE DECIDED TO ADD LIGHT INTO THIS SITE THROUGH THE USE OF YELLOW YARN TO BRIGHTEN UP THIS AREA.

For this project I created four different models to exlore the form of an object. I represented the shape of my shoe through horizontal, vertical, egg crate, and skin modes of construction.

Creating Pattern, Color, and Texture

IN THIS PROJECT THE OBJECTIVE WAS TO CREATE THREE DISTINCTIVE PATTERNS FROM ONE SYMBOL WHILE EXPLORING COLOR PALATES. THE TOP ROW OF PICTURES SHOWS HOW ONE STAMP CAN TURN INTO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SYMBOLS THROUGH OVERLAPPING, TOUCHING AND SPACING OUT. THE SECOND ROW SHOWS COLOR INVESTIGATION THROUGH THE COLOR WHEEL AND COLORING OF THE OVERLAPPING COLOR STAMP. THE THIRD ROW SHOWS COLOR AND TEXTURE THROUGH THE ORIGAMI-LIKE STRUCTURE WITH THE COLOR PALATE OF THE SECOND ROW.

In this project I had to convert a 2-D textile to a 3-d object. From one side of the project, it has to look like my textile. To accomplish this project, I learned visual hierarchy the difference of perspective. For example, if you view a line's top elevation, it would look like a dot, but it looks like a plane if you view its side elevation.

I abstracted my painting entitled “ Virgin and Child, with Saints Apollonia and Sebastian" for this project. My obstructed drawing informed my 5 diagrams of the essential elements of the painting. I produced a bas relief of incorporating the important aspects from the diagrams.

Making Place I TOOK A CLOSE-UP PICTURE OF MY BAS RELIEF MODEL IN HARSH LIGHTING TO GET REALLY COOL SHADOWS. FROM THE PICTURE, I CREATED A WOODEN SITE. MY WOODEN SITE WAS ALSO INFORMED BY MY INVISIBLE CITY, LAUDOMIA, REPRESENTING DEATH, LIFE, AND THE UNBORN THROUGH THE THREE PATHS.

Making Space

This project aimed to create an embassy of space that portrays a particular city from "Calvino's Invisible Cities." I chose Laudomia, the city of the unborn, living, and dead. I portraited the themes of my city by making three distinct spaces that match the themes of death, life, or the unborn.

Throughout this project, I work with a variety of materials. I discover new ways to use, handle, and manipulate each material. Each cube or cylinder has a corresponding drawing. Through continual drawings, my drafting has improved.

CT 03 The purpose of researching the United Nations was to learn about their sustainablity development goals. The U.N has 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a "blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all"
