TRESOR PARIS GLITTERS AT THE MOBOS IT was a night when the stars from urban music came out and Tresor Paris was there to rub shoulders on the red carpet. It was the annual 2011 MOBO awards, held in Glasgow’s SECC arena. For the first time in the history of the award show, The MOBO organisation decided to team up with Tresor Paris to create a special award show bracelet to be gifted to each category winner as well as the hosts on the night. The nominees at this year’s event included Adele, Wretch 32, Tinie Tempah, Tinchy Stryder, Beyoncé, Katy B, Dionne Bromfield and Jessie J. THE glittering event hosted by US singer Jason Derulo and Strictly Come Dancing judge Alesha Dixon was in it’s 16th year and did not fail to live up to expectations with fantastic performances - Ms Dynamite and Tinchy Stryder ft. Dappy performed their number one smash hit ‘spaceship’. On accepting her award for best album,

Jessie J said; “Wow. I did not expect to win that at all. I just want to say the biggest thank you to my fans because I watched this last year by myself in my living room and no one knew who I was and now I just won best album. That is epic. Thank you everyone”. Tinie Tempah won one of the four categories for which he was nominated – picking up ‘Best Hip Hop/Grime Act’. Tresor Paris also had the opportunity to speak with founder of the awards Kanya King - on congratulating her on yet another successful awards show, she replied by saying; “The awards reflect what is happening in the UK music scene right now more than ever, urban music is prevalent.” On Jessie J’s opening performance, Kanya said; “Jessie’s opening number – I think people will remember that for a long time to come”. The excitement and atmosphere of our second year here in Glasgow has shown the love that the whole country has for MOBO. continue to page 2

“WE felt so welcome the first time we came here; we didn’t think it could be topped. This year has been a phenomenal success and we can’t wait to return in 2012”. Each category winner received a special edition MOBO bracelet. The men’s bracelet was made up of five pavé-set incrusted yellow diamonds and six matté agate semi-precious stones, with four 18ct gold plated stones and a tibetan cord. As well as this, the design was finished with a subtle MOBO and Tresor Paris gold mini disc. The women’s bracelet was made up of six pavé-set rose coloured diamonds with seven semi-precious matté agate stones and four 18ct rose gold plated balls. Like the mens version, the spiritual tibetan cord running through was finished with a MOBO and Tresor Paris gold mini disc. The lucky winners of the special edition bracelet included Tinie Tempah for ‘Best UK Hip Hop/Grime Act’, Tinchy Stryder and Dappy for ‘Best Video’, Rihanna, ‘Best International Act’, Adele, ‘Best R&B/Soul Act’ and Alboroise for ‘Best Reggae Act’. Kairos 4tet won ‘Best Jazz’, Wizkid, ‘Best African’, Triple O, ‘Best Gospel’ and Jessie J was the biggest winner on the night scooping four awards for ‘Best UK Act’, ‘Best Newcomer’, ‘Best Song’ and ‘Best Album’.

Boys II Men love their new Tresor Paris bracelets

There was also an award for ‘Outstanding Contribution to Music’, with that award going to the 1990’s American all-male group Boyz II Men. The MOBO ceremony also featured a tribute to Amy Winehouse, led by the singer’s 15-yearold goddaughter Dionne Bromfield, who sang ‘Love is a Losing Game’. Speaking before performing the tribute, Dionne, who was nominated for the ‘Best UK R&B/Soul Act’, said; “It’s amazing. It’s really emotional but I’m really pleased to be doing it. Amy loved the MOBO’s, it was one of her favourite awards.” It was only fitting for the last words to go to Kanya; “It’s been a great event that has welcomed some exciting new award winners to the MOBO roll of honour”.

ello and welcome once more to Tresor Paris News. I am Bobby and I am your stand-in editor for this month while Leroi jets off to a sunnier climate. What an honour it is to be Acting Editor during such a busy month. As we roll out our third edition, we at Tresor Paris would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your huge support for our work with Breast Cancer Care. As you know this is a charity very close to our heart and the support we have had from you has been immense. We had another hectic but ever-soenjoyable month at Tresor Paris, from our quick hop over to Glasgow for the MOBO’s, to showcasing our AW11 collections at the J Autumn Fashion show on Tower Bridge. We also had a presence at the Miss World 2011 contest this month, having collaborated with Sandstorm Boutique, but you’ll have to wait for next months issue to read the full report! The launch of our AW11 collections went down a storm this month as we rolled out the Tresor Paris bus once more for the top fashion press. The two-day tour of London went as we expected, great, and the response we got from the bus was also well received. There is still so much excitement about Tresor Paris and we are pleased to be sharing it alongside other members of the fashion industry. I would also like to give a big thank you to the Tresor Paris team for their hard work in putting together another great paper – the team have put in a lot of hours to bring this to you and we hope you all enjoy it. Before I go, there is one last thing I’d like to mention and that is a warm welcome to all of our new stockists. As you would have seen from our last issue, the list of stockists is ever growing and we would just like to let you all know how pleased we are to have you on board. Don’t forget to follow us on twitter and check us out on facebook for more great prizes. Enjoy!

TINCHY STRIDER – it’s hard to know where to begin with the young grime artist, who shot to fame back in 2009 and has continuously grown (well, not literally – they don’t call him Tinchy for no reason) ever since. Ghanaian-born Tinchy, real name Kwasi Danquah, began his career at the tender age of 13, broadcasting on pirate radio sets with other music stars such as Dizzee Rascal and Wiley. For those of you unfamiliar with the origin of Tinchy’s stage name, ‘Tinchy’ derives from his nickname due to his 5.1” stature and ‘Stryder’ is taken from an arcade game he was fond of as a child. Since these humble beginnings, Tinchy, 25, is now recognised as a musician, a music video director, a business manager and a creative director. Having had three singles, peaking within the top three of the UK charts, it is a safe assumption that this young man knows a thing or two about the music industry; His first major song ‘Take Me Back’ in 2009, was the first hint of superstardom for Tinchy and he later released ‘Number 1’ with hip hop band N-Dubz, which did in fact reach number one. Stryder, now well established within the industry, then

collaborated with Sugababes beauty Amelle Berrabah to release ‘Never Leave You’ – the stars second number one single. Quite an achievement. For Tinchy though, it’s not all about the music. Whilst there is no doubt of the passion he has for his musician roots, he has also gone on to become a successful business man with various ventures behind him; founding and creating his own clothing line ‘Star in the Hood’, Tinchy is also the President and CEO of Takeover Roc Nation and Chairman and A&R executive of Takeover Entertainment Ltd. Tinchy’s ‘Star in the Hood’ clothing line was named after his pseudonym, which also shares the same name as his first solo album. ‘Star in the Hood’ is a range of street clothing that descends from his roots in Bow, East London. Tinchy is not afraid to express, both through his music and public image, his origin and naming both an album and retail venture after his nickname, shows he is an East London boy at heart. As well as music and business, and probably many more we are not yet aware of, Tinchy Stryder has one other talent – football. In 2010,

Stryder revealed if his music career had not taken off, he would have liked to become a professional footballer; “I was quite athletic, I had to choose between football and music”. He wasn’t kidding – Tinchy was actually scheduled to become a professional footballer and even enrolled at the academy of Wimbledon F.C. Playing striker and second striker, his coach Peter Cawley had only great things to say about him; “Kwasi Danquah combined immense speed and skill with a physical presence that belies his short height… I think he definitely had the talent and attitude to become a professional footballer”. Who knew? A footballer, a musician, a businessman and what else? A TV personality - recently appearing on That Sunday Night Show, the 25 year old, not just a pretty face, charmed thousands with his great wit and sense of humour. Having attending the University of East London, Tinchy gained a Ba (Hons) in Digital Arts, Moving Image and Animation and he shows his intellect. Rarely seen without his beloved Tresor Paris jewellery, Tinchy Stryder is the proud owner of the ‘Montlucon’, ‘Mariac’ and ‘St. Tropez’, to name a few. Just last month, there were numerous sightings of Tinchy wearing Tresor Paris, including his presence at the 2011 MOBO awards. Hosting the backstage segments of the awards with former music partner, Dappy, the pair flashed their Tresor Paris bling. Dappy opted for the ‘Gironde’ bracelet whilst Tinchy stuck with his faithful ‘Mariac’ and ‘Montlucon’ and added the ‘Sure’ bracelet for good measure. With Tinchy and friends wearing Tresor Paris at almost every outing, the brand couldn’t be more thrilled of the talented young artists support.

AUTUMN TUMN SHOW T he scene was set; the cameras at the ready, the models booked and the guests confirmed. We were ready to be amazed at the famous and iconic Tower Bridge of London for the spectacular J Autumn Fashion Show. With views stretching over the river Thames illuminated by London City by night, the J Autumn fashion show took to the catwalk once more. Following in the footsteps of the J Summer fashion show 2011 that was held at the London Savoy, Jessica Minh Anh took her team to create another great show, having ensured the J Autumn show became an event eagerly awaited by fashionistas nationwide.

This event was to be the perfect opportunity for Tresor Paris to showcase their latest AW 2011 collection; with a list of designers and brands from around the world, the J Autumn fashion show was destined to be a night to remember. As the guests began to arrive at the foyer of 1 Tower Bridge, anxiously waiting to be ushered up to the highest level on the bridge, the walkway. For the first time, the Tower Bridge walkway was being turned into a catwalk that would light up the bridge for one night only. The fabulous outfits were not just on the catwalk, but were also being worn by the

many guests which ranged from buyers, designers, brand representatives and a host of VIP’s all waiting in anticipation to see the new collections and most of all, Tresor Paris. The Tresor Paris brand was teamed with Moscow designer Razu Mikhina along with a few select outfits from the other designers showcasing their finery. There was an array of fabulous designs but one of the most striking was that of Vietnamese designers Vo Viet Chung, whose Chinese-inspired designs were made from wool and would be the perfect fit for any evening out in London. Once the catwalk show was over, the crowds made their way to the second

walkway where interviews, networking and drinks began. From diplomats to musicians, the guests were in great form and as the night drew to an end, the only thing on everyones’ mind was the date of the next fashion show.

Tresor Paris NEWS November, 2011

Name: Michelle Jedrasiewicz Position: Stockist Supervisor Please tell us your title and explain a bit about your role. My official title is ‘Stockist Supervisor’, which involves establishing relationships with new clients. I deal with the initial enquiries right through to finalising the agreements made between Tresor Paris and the new stockists. When did you join the company and how did you get into your current role? I joined Tresor Paris just a few months ago when my previous employer closed down. I worked in a similar role at a local Hatton Garden jewellers so am very familiar with this. I actually have an accounting background so the role I am in now just came about fairly unintentionally. What does your role entail, on a day-to-day basis? It is a very busy one with lots of admin involved so I am always on the go! As I am always liaising with our current and new stockists, I am constantly checking emails, on the telephone, running around, taking enquiries and placing orders. The day goes extremely quickly though, as is always the way when you are in a busy environment. What do you like most about the job? Although at times, my role can be very demanding, I really enjoy the company I am in. The team that I work with really make each day for me and always lift my spirits.

How would you describe Tresor Paris? I think Tresor Paris is an appealto-everybody brand. We have jewellery made from crystals and diamonds for those who love their bling and a selection of natural stone collections for those who prefer an understated look. Personally, I love the bling! It’s suitable for all ages - I have been getting lots of Christmas ideas already! What would you like Tresor Paris to do in the future? It would be great for the brand to expand internationally. We already have stockists across a selection of countries but there are some we are yet to target. India for instance would be great for all of it’s Bollywood fans – I think they would go crazy for Tresor Paris! Where do you see yourself, careerwise in 5 years time? Well, what a lot of people don’t know is that I am very good with figures. I have an accounts background so I would love to try a hand at merchandising. I hope to still be with the company and by this time, I imagine they will definitely need a merchandiser! Do you have any advice for anybody wanting to follow in your footsteps? For me, I kind of fell into this role but what I will say is that you have to be a people-person, be prepared to work hard and always grab opportunities that come at you.

& Counterfeits

FAKES

FAKES AND COUNTERFEITS are one of Tresor Paris’ main concerns and we feel the need to highlight the magnitude of fraudulent transactions. We would like to pay thanks to Trading Standards, who last month, confiscated over 100,000 worth of counterfeit goods, some of which were Tresor Paris. It is for this reason that Tresor Paris only recommends customers purchase items from our online store or from an official stockist. Unfortunately, some consumers become convinced that counterfeit goods may be a cheaper alternative to the original product, but in fact, this is not the case – the quality of fake goods is well below acceptable and those involved in such trades are often fuelling other illegal behaviours. Those who sell fakes and those who knowingly buy counterfeit goods are abusing the hard work of all that create a quality product with a quality brand name. Tresor Paris have previously received complaints of ‘poor quality’ and when

Tresor Paris Newspaper Pg 6.indd 1

investigated, it is clear to see why – unofficial stockists sell fake goods at a lesser price which, obviously can not have the quality and craftsmanship of true Tresor Paris items. Earlier this year, a North-West London man was jailed for two years after he was found guilty to numerous trade offences and money laundering. Adrian Hindson, 40, used multiple identities to sell fake goods including jewellery, bags and shoes, with a so-called ‘business’ believed to have been worth £500,000. To prevent the occurrence of fake and counterfeit goods, Tresor Paris already have a legal team in place and we welcome any queries that consumers may have relating to stockists. Alternatively, a full list of stockists is available on our website. Fortunately, with the help of the Council, the Police and Trading Standards, we have successfully shut down a number of illegal outlets and will continue to do so until all counterfeit sales are stopped.

asima Ahmed

Marketing Guru and stylist-to-the-stars, Nasima Ahmed, shares her experience of working in the ever-demanding fashion industry.

WITH a degree in marketing behind her and a swarm of invaluable experience, it is fair to say Nasima Ahmed is one to watch for 2012. Having graduated just three years ago, this young woman has tried, and succeeded in various ventures and boy does it show. After graduating in 2008, Nasima began working as an intern with Talk PR and since then, she has climbed the career ladder, working with brands including Hugo Boss, Pinko and Versace as well as styling for Asian Woman magazine. Her work has been featured in Stylist Magazine and she has also worked with the well-known Loreal brand, Mizani. It is with Talk where she first experienced the perks of working within fashion; “I got a real thirst to work with fashion brands. I started styling, working with photographer friends I had developed over the years, and since then I have worked with some great brands and magazines. I am currently a freelance fashion stylist and freelance writer for Asian Woman magazine.” Nasima is also working with talent branding agency Live Love Brand as a Freelance Brand Partnership Manager, where she liaises with fashion brands and celebrities, building relationships between the two. No ordinary job, Nasima’s day-to-day assignments vary from one day to the next; “One day I might be on a shoot, another day I could be returning items, then the next, managing meetings with brands, finding out what they are doing and what they might like to do in the future with celebrities – both fashion and styling related.” Managing various challenging roles must take its toll on

Nasima but in fact, she actually quite enjoys the unusual hours that are not to everyone’s liking; “It’s not a normal 9-5, which I prefer – I work my own hours and I feel it’s a lot more rewarding!” It’s not all plain sailing in the fashion industry though, and whilst there are benefits of working freelance and meeting celebrities on a daily basis, there are often obstacles that mean you need to on be hand for any odd last minute requests; “The flexibility and last minute projects that pop up can be the downsides of my job. I might have a project I need to deliver within a day – I once had a client who asked me to make a wired dress from scratch for an advert!” Tresor Paris is expecting more great things from Nasima and no doubt, hope to work alongside her in the future; “I absolutely love Tresor Paris, it’s such a fresh and cool brand and the bracelets especially are something you can wear with anything.” It’s great for those that Tresor Paris works with to be passionate about the brand. So what’s next for Nasima? “Well, I’m working on a lot of projects with brands and celebrities at the moment, but who knows, I may even start up my own agency!” Lastly, understanding how difficult it is to break into the fashion industry, Nasima gives a word of advice for those wanting to follow in her footsteps; “Get as much experience as you can and build your networks and contacts as they will be your source to success.”

Tresor Paris on Tour

A

s reported in the last issue of Tresor Paris news, our press event last month went down exceptionally well. The Tresor Paris team took to the streets of Central London and caused a perfect storm; if you hadn’t seen the Tresor Paris bus already, you surely would have last month. Our very own double-decker, leather interior, high spec tour bus features a bar (with cocktail waiter and Tresor Paris cocktails included – think Cosmopolitan but with a twist), lounge seating and three beautifully fashioned pods which replicate the luxury chic of our trendy Hatton Garden showroom. On the 11th and 12th of October, the finest fashion editors from all over town experienced what Tresor Paris is all about. Those from Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Red, Company, Cosmo, Glamour and more stepped on board the bus and caught a glimpse of our new collections – the ‘Neptune’ and ‘Cygnus’ ranges. Made with the same attention-to-detail as Tresor Paris’ earlier collections, the ‘Neptune’ and ‘Cygnus’ ranges offer a newer style of jewellery but with the same carefully placed, professionally sourced crystals and natural stones. The ‘Neptune’ range features a host of colours, as featured in the ‘Orion’ collection, but without the traditional Tibetan cord entwined. The newer styles are ideal for an evening event or perfect to wear alongside existing designs. The ‘Cygnus’ range, whilst

just as striking, offers an alternative variety of pearl and silver bracelets, just in time for the Christmas party season - snowy pearls, bright white crystals and natural stones create a winter-white collection of bracelets that are finished with delicate black diamonds and an 18ct gold plate. As is imaginable, the new designs were an astounding success with the fashion press and they snapped theirs up as quickly as you can say “Tresor Paris”. Fortunately for them, the jewellery co designer, Lilian Lousky, was on hand to answer any questions. Lilian talked about the origin of Tresor Paris right through to future plans and everything in-between. What with the delicious nibbles supplied by the caterers, the Tresor Paris cocktails, the new collections and the excitement of the bus, we were left feeling a little bit exhausted, but very much looking forward to our upcoming events over the next few months. With an orderly queue already well established by journalists, merchandisers, PR’s, buyers and more, expect to see Tresor Paris splashed across the fashion pages of your favourite magazines.

F

Each month we will bring you an insight into one of these exceptional stockists. This November we introduce you to Diamantes! We spoke to owner Louise McDonald about the success of Tersor Paris in her fabulous and inviting designer jewellery shop.

TP: Tell us about Diamantes, how did it all begin? LM: Diamantes has been open for less than a year but it’s the jewel in the crown of the Telford Shopping Centre! I saw a gap in the market for the sale of designer jewellery in Telford – the closest retailer of this kind of product was nearly 20 miles away. We opened the week before Christmas. Our modern and funky interior combined with the friendly staff makes Diamantes a great place to visit and pick out your favourite Tresor Paris pieces!

TP: What types of brands do you sell? LM: We sell a range of on trend designer jewellery including Pandora, Trollbeads and, of course, Tresor Paris! We’ve only had Tresor Paris in store for 8 weeks and it’s the second best selling brand we stock, it out sells the 3rd best selling brand by almost 60%. TP: What makes Diamantes stand out from all the other in the Telford Shopping Centre? LM: We aren’t like the other jewellers because we are an independent boutique, we’re not just another high street chain. We love the products we sell and this comes across in our customer service.

TP: Can you describe Diamantes in only three words? LM: Fun, unique and friendly. TP: What is the most popular bracelet sold? LM: Ours is the Monaco...The Arc-en-ciel with its multi-

coloured design is really popular and yes, the Monaco too. TP: Have you got a Tresor Paris bracelet of your very own? LM: I have two, The Triumph and St Malo and so many pairs of earrings! TP: What do you think makes Tersor Paris appeal to so many people? LM: The pieces are eye catching – they are bright and colourful and that’s what attracts people. We have the bracelets displayed in our shop window and it’s the only section of the window with fingerprints all over the glass! People are drawn to them! TP: Would you say Tresor Paris is suitable for every occasion? LM: For any occasion it’s a great present, weddings, birthdays, for friend or loved one or for no occasion at all! Getting a Tresor Pairs piece makes you smile! TP: Do you think you’ll sell alot this Christmas? LM: Yes, it’s going to be crazy this Christmas! TP: What piece of Tresor Paris jewellery would you like Santa to leave in your stocking this Christmas? LM: I’d love the one piece Toucy necklace! The full necklace with white and grey crystals and magnetite.
