“A Vision; Way Forward”: Our DG-elect’s Message

Warm Rotary Greetings, I hope we are back to our normal routine after rejuvenating, spiritual holidays.

We all seek purpose in life; we want to accomplish something we've always desired — to rise in our profession, which gives us a sense of fulfillment. However, as we progress in the journey of life, a natural inclination to nourish our soul arises. This is achieved by 'doing good for society'; we find satisfaction when we share the resources acquired during our life's journey.

We seek like-minded individuals who share similar passions, enrich us with their wisdom, and cultivate meaningful relations. In modern times, we term this as purposeful networking. Throughout our lives, we take various paths to compose our desires, with the ultimate goal of finding the purpose of life.

Rotary is one such platform that can help us in this pursuit, broadening our perspective and connecting us to different minds across the globe. It offers an opportunity to serve on a large spectrum. To fully utilize these opportunities from Rotary, we must strengthen it, meaning we need to have healthy clubs.

Healthy clubs have diverse memberships, where every member has an equal opportunity to express themselves, and individuals from all walks of society are included in its activities. Clubs should create an atmosphere where everyone feels a sense of belonging. They should undertake projects or activities that have a lasting impact on society, increasing their reach to include the last person in society in their activities. Clubs should be nimble enough to adapt to the fast-changing needs of society.

To make Rotary more relevant and sustainable for eternity, we must work towards creating a peaceful society and shaping a world where we can all live together. Let us always remember what our founder, Paul Harris, said, "Whatever Rotary may mean to us, to the world, it will be known by the results its achievers produce." Let's work on creating hope and fostering positive change in the world.

ON 07/11/2023, breakfast was given to children of Anganwadi of Halpatiwas and two Anganwadi of Lake Phaliya at Lajpur by Rotary Club of Surat Tapi.

Project : "NOURISH" Week - 44

Pre Diwali Celebration with Anganwadi children To eliminate Malnutrition of children and bring them out from red(R) and yellow. They will be provided nutritious food at regular intervals and monitored for nutrition.

On Nov 8th: "Nurturing is not complex. It’s merely being tuned in to the thing or person before you and offering small gestures toward what it needs at that time" Today rotary club of Surat tapi has distributed sweets and snacks to old age home ( Asra Vrudha Ashram ) near bread liner circle. Thanks to all Rotary club of Surat Tapi members for the noble cause.

We are delighted to share the exciting news that Rotarian Paresh Parekh from our club recently had the privilege of attending a meeting at the Rotary Club of Kitchener in Canada, belonging to District 7080. The visit was marked by the exchange of flags, fostering fellowship, and enjoying moments of pure Rotary fun.

Be happily dissatisfied….

She has always admired her father for his discipline. Now she is married. She expects her husband to be disciplined, which she believes is an essential virtue. In discipline, her husband never makes the grade. She is dissatisfied with him and she is frustrated with him.

“My mother has always been honest and transparent. The problem with you is that you never tell me everything about your life,” the husband complains to his wife. “Look at your brother’s handwriting – it is work of art, and look at yours,” the mother nags the daughter. “In my earlier organization, we never operated like this,” cribs the new General Manager. “In America, we don’t have these issues,” cries the NRI about India.

Rotary has also provided me with the chance to collaborate with like-minded individuals who are passionate about giving back. It's incredible to see how a diverse group of people can come together with a common goal of making the world a better place. The friendships and connections formed through Rotary are invaluable.

EXPECTATION ISN’T THE PROBLEM: BENCHMARKING EXPECTATION IS. She gives her father a ’10 out of 10’ on discipline and isn’t satisfied with her husband who is tottering at 4or 5. See, for him, 5 is his 100% score – given his nature, temperament, upbringing and condition, he will never make it beyond 5 in discipline.

This is him and this will be him. There must be some other quality in which the husband is perfect 10, whereas his father won’t make the necessary grade. The wife may never be as transparent as mother, but she may be very selfless in financially aiding the family.

The daughter may outperform the son in singing. You believed this organization had better growth prospects than your previous organization, and that’s why you are here.

After all, India doesn’t have some of the issues that the world has.

No one is inferior to others on all counts and no one is superior to the rest in all measures. We all have our pluses and minuses. No one is zero – defect. No one is all -defect. Stop focuses on isolated qualities. Start relating to the whole being.

Exploring R. Partners's Creativity Cond....

However, there is a twist in the tale. While being dissatisfied with others makes me unhappy, being dissatisfied with myself helps me grow. When I benchmark others with my expectations, it leaves me dissatisfied with them and thus affects my happiness.

When I benchmark myself with my expectations, the dissatisfaction created propels my growth and development. When I demand a ’10 out of 10’ from myself on excellence, integrity, purposefulness, character, competence, etc.…. it shows me where I stand and where I need to go. The gap becomes the scope of my transformation. When I demand ’10 out of 10’ from the world, it affects the quality of my relationship with the world.

So, on all matters, rate the world on ‘5’ and rate yourself on ‘10’. Not that the world is any less capable or that you are superhuman, but because….. Without happiness, there is no life. So rate the world on ‘5’. Without dissatisfaction, there is no growth. So rate yourself on ‘10’. Thus you will be Happily Dissatisfied.

I am happy with the way you love me. For my part, I will find more and more ways to love you.

The saline waters of the ocean, the contaminated drains, the stinking ponds, the stagnant lakes…………from anywhere, when water evaporates into the above and comes down again as rains, it is pure drinking water.

Similarly, when human connects with the force above, self-purification happens. Human’s thoughts, feelings and even the being are purified when he/she connects with the divine.

When prayers go up, blessings come down.

*Four Way Test Contest* Rotary Club of Surat Tapi invites you to be a part of *FourWay Test Contest*. The Rotary Four-Way Test Contest is a competition organized by Rotary clubs to *encourage young people to think about and discuss the importance of ethical

behavior

in

their

personal

and

professional lives*. Contestants are judged on their ability to effectively communicate ideas,

apply

ethical

reasoning,

and

demonstrate an understanding of the FourWay Test. The contest provides a platform for

young

individuals

to

engage

in

meaningful discussions about ethics and integrity.
